We were craving some oysters and Lamella seemed the obvious choice in the Willow Glen area. Let's start with the service. Our server Alexis was wonderful! Kind, friendly, and super attentive in a way that elevated our experience. We also noticed that Alexis carried this same positive energy to all table. The food... I said . We started with a dozen raw and a 4-piece Rockefeller. The raw were delicious, little to no shell bits, but the Rockefeller... Wow! Suffice it to say that after we each had our first rockefeller, we promptly ordered a 1/2 dozen more. For drinks we went with a bottle of The decor is warm and intimate and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Thanks to Alexis for excellent service, unfortunately unusual these days. the place was pretty cozy and intimate. though because of it being valentines day it was very busy, and i was surprised to see pretty much only one waitress taking care of all the tables. the food was very good! even though at first i was very confused about the Tapa, their oysters were on the smaller side but flavor was very strong, we liked them a lot. and the rest of the food and the drinks were more than amazing. would recommend!!! p/s: the drinks were very strong lol but when we were there a group of dinners were complaining about their wait time, then end up canceling their tab and left. so it freaked us out a bit. our food took a while, but once they started coming out, they were on the table at a good pace. read more

Came in for a night cap around 9pm on a Saturday night after some underwhelming drinks nearby. The place was fairly crowded so we grabbed a spot at the bar and enjoyed the live music. We had just planned on getting a drink, but after looking over their food menu, which had some super fun and delicious sounding options (I'm looking at and will be back for you swordfish carpaccio) we decided to get a small bite too. Went with the focaccia because how can you say no to warm bread? We both opted for espresso martinis, though many of the others sounded and looked amazing - we saw so many getting made and going out while at the bar. The tinis were really good, a little stronger on the coffee, but I'll take that over one that's overly sweet anyday. The vibe was dark and high end but not bougie, definitely a place you can get dressed up to visit, or show up in your patagonia jacket and a baseball cap. One of my favorite bars in the South Bay! The cocktail options are always delicious! My favorites being that they recently added an Espresso Martini section! The dirty chai espresso martini was great! The thin mint, also great! When I come in, I always order the flatbread of the day. It never disappoints! There was one time I ordered a shrimp plate with nduja sausage and it was probably one of the best shrimps I've ever tasted. The bartenders here are always super friendly as well! The service was good just kind of slow even though it was not busy. Everything came out one by one instead of all together. We had to ask for caviar at the end of it because we were waiting so long for it. We ordered: The flatbread was really good the sauce was full of flavor. Caviar and chips, not my favorite the dip its self was kinda fishy. Very overpriced for the amount of caviar and not even homemade chips. However for whatever reason tonight as the patrons thinned out they just cranked up the music so loud we couldn't even talk. There were only 3 occupied tables and the music was so loud! We asked them to turn it down a little but they just smiled and did nothing. It became so unpleasant. We spent nearly $200 for drinks and a snack. We asked them to turn it down just a couple of notches but no. Also don't go in the bathroom because it's 18 times louder. And here's where it gets interesting: Their Oaxaca Mezcal selection. Folks, I'm drooling. I'm a grown man standing at a bar, salivating like Pavlov's golden retriever. It's embarrassing. It's beautiful. But the Old-Fashioneds? Holy Toledo, the Old-Fashioneds. I don't know what kind of wizard academy these bartenders graduated from--Hogwarts School of Mixology?--but these drinks border on actual magic. Some unique dishes and drinks. All well executed. We were surprised at how much we enjoyed the dinner out. It is all small plates, no real entrees. We saw on the website that they didn't take reservations, so we were hesitant to try them out. But there were many open tables so we sat right down. Service was friendly, but spotty. Seemed like they were training one server to make drinks and the other may have been covering tables at the Table restaurant next door. All were chatting with people at the bar. So we had some down time despite only 2 tables with people. The musician was great. Quiet background and classic rock acoustic sets. Drinks had some unique character. Menu items were great (oysters, fish, white beans, etc all very well executed and VERY tasty). I wish they had an entree like a burger or something a bit more substantial than small plates. But definitely worth trying out with a couple of friends as long as you get a night without a wait for a table. read more

We came here for happy hour, and we ordered the red lager beer, oysters, the prosciutto di parma sandwich, and the romesco sardine. All the food tasted amazing -- the beer was really smooth and had a refreshing flavor, the oysters were all super fresh and meaty, the sandwich was delicious and the romesco sardine was surprisingly amazingly good!! The sauce with the sardines was so flavorful with a hint of spice, and the onions and veggies balanced out the flavors really well. The vibe of the restaurant was really cute too, and it wasn't too busy since it was around 4pm on a thursday. I also thought it was really cool that they only used real hand towels in the bathroom -- good for the environment! Just had the most disappointing experience this evening at Lamella Tavern. I couldn't understand why on a popular day such as Valentine's Day this bar was so under staffed and disorganized, I arrived with four guests at 4:30pm. It took 35 minutes to receive our drinks and another half hour to receive only half of our food order. Our server took our drink orders and she never returned. We saw her bartending but never returned to our table. Many of the tables around us were served drinks and food before we ever received ours. I had to go to the bartender to ask where our food was and eventually I gave up and just asked for our check and cancel the other portion of our food order. If you LOVE Oysters this place is a MUST! The restaurant is owned by Jim Stump so he's not a newbie. We used to frequent his other Oyster bar which recently closed (Forthright which was next to Capers in Campbell) They have amazing craft cocktails and well versed staff. The service has always been good. And fresh oysters daily. The thing that really sets them apart is the mignonette (theirs has mirin, English cucumbers, parsley, white vinegar- well that's my guess anyhow) and you can practically drink it, it's that good! They do a happy hour daily with cool specials like a champagne and Oysters OR a martini with oysters. They do a $2 oyster of the day during happy hour which has always been delicious. Their Hamachi Avocado Wedges are to DIE FOR if you can fit in one bite, it's a big one but the perfect flavors all around. It's a 21+ location so it's usually a nice crowd and on some nights they have a live band. It's not too loud or too bright so can even be a romantic happy hour stop. The one thing that sucks is that it will always be a limited menu due to their kitchen restrictions sadly. read more

the ambiance of this place is very pleasant, a great place to go with a few friends. a petite, laid back, and upscale establishment that offers flavorful seafood bites. the servers are slightly hard to flag down, but i'm usually not in a rush. their selection of oysters is credible and extremely delicious. the best time to go is during happy hour. they offer one daily type of oyster to give u at a discounted price, as well as many of their popular appetizers. their "sip & slurp" menu, which are oyster and alcohol pairings, are also offered for a good deal. their espresso martini is average, i prefer their dessert blossom cocktail more. i loved the carpaccio and the ceviche. read more

Sandwiched between The Table and SusieCakes on the corner of Willow and Lincoln, Lamella Tavern is a cute cocktail and oyster bar that's owned by the same folks as The Table, Vesper, and Forthright. Which means I knew I was in for a good time when we stopped by! My partner and I went for their all day happy hour on Sunday, earlier in the afternoon, to try out some cocktails and food. We started our day with a Scenic Route and Hex Me Not. We liked both cocktails but we LOVED Scenic Route. What a nice, smooth cocktail that's perfectly balanced! We also tried a lot of their foods like their chips and dip (amazing onion dip with ruffles), hamachi avocado wedge (beautifully balanced and fresh), Caesar salad (think halved heart with great dressing and cheese), and some happy hour oysters! Their oysters were so fresh and amazing, we got more after we finished our first dozen. It comes with lemons, extra strong horseradish, cocktail sauce (which is not really needed), and mignonette; a perfect mix. We ended the evening by sharing a Suck It, Winter! cocktail and we think that it was also a nicely balanced, great tasting cocktail. The service was top notch, especially as we were there on an early Sunday afternoon and I believe there was only one server at the time manning the bar and serving us on the patio since we also brought our dog along with us. Limited parking available behind the building, but it's Willow Glen - there's some street parking and lots around. I complaints here. Handsome, stylish bar with bites located in downtown Willow Glen. We went for a midday cocktail and some food on Saturday shortly after it opened (around 330pm) so it wasn't toon busy. The gentleman that served us (and made the cocktails as well) was very polite and friendly. The cocktails were delicious and unique. We shared the giant beans (which don't sounds amazing, but were!) and the tater tots with a grated parm and delicious sauce were awesome too! We sat inside/outside so we could people watch the folks passing by, but still feel the a/c as the whole front opens up. For drinks, we ordered the Matcha Milk Punch and Scenic Route off of the happy hour menu. Both cocktails were delicious and well balanced. i'm always on the hunt for good happy hour spots so I was happy to see that the table opened a spot right next to their restaurant. I'm a fan of their food and was curious to see what lamella offered. I've been to lamella twice now - the first time ordering oysters, focaccia, and the Italian flatbread. their happy hour menu is better than most as they have plenty of options and I do enjoy the drinks there. we tried the scenic route, Mr pink, and matcha milk. all great choices! the second time I came, I tried the mushroom flatbread, hamachi wedge salad, and deviled eggs (the special of the day) oysters seem to be good quality here. I loved the deviled eggs and hamachi wedge salad, while I was longing for more mushrooms on the mushroom flatbread! our waiter had told us it had "a ton of mushrooms" and it was great for mushroom lovers so I was disappointed when there were barely any on it. one note I have is that service is incredibly slow here. one time they forgot to put in my oyster order, another we were sitting there for a while before someone came to check on us or even refill water. our waiter would disappear and only come back to drop off our food. love the interior and they have outdoor seating. Tried a drink listed on one of their previous happy hour menus, Mr. Pink, and it was tasty with a nice strawberry and lime flavor mixed with vodka, and presented beautifully with a flower as garnish (it wasn't on their current menu, but I showed the staff a menu pic from Yelp, and they had no problem making it for me). The kitchen also serves food till around 11:30pm on Saturdays, and we snacked on some light and fluffy rosemary focaccia which was served with a delicious garlicky balsamic vinegar dip that had a nice kick. It was good. This restaurant and bar had a warm and inviting atmosphere, with modern looking seating and light fixtures. The cozy space was crowded later at night, but we were lucky to find two seats, and were able to enjoy our time here. The staff was friendly, but service was a bit slow. Just had a moderately nice time at the bar where I over tipped $40 on a bill for $130 and accidentally left the takeout bag with our flatbread pizza minus 3 pieces, on the bar. I literally just went back 10 minutes later and the bartender and the blonde woman claim that they hadn't seen anything and had no idea where it was. I find it really rude to not admit that you threw it out when we left it there 10 minutes ago after we sat and talked and interacted with Jordan for over 1.5 hours! We went next-door to SusieCakes to pick up a birthday cake and realized that we had forgotten the bag and came back immediately. I can't believe Jordan the bartender did that to us! Won't be going again after that blunder in service. They don't care about their customers at all. Figures it's related to The Table. One star for the hamachi avocado small plate. PS. This place is very nice and cozy. I would say perfect for a date night. My friend and I came during happy hour and was not disappointed. We got a couple of cocktails and shared the three cheese flatbread as well as caesar salad. The Rudolph's Cup was delicious and not overly sweet. I love when Caesar salads come with whole leaves, however we did need to ask for extra dressing. It was simple but done well, the dressing was creamy. I don't know if I would call our other dish a flatbread rather than a pizza because of how fluffy the crust was but it was also good and had a little kick from the crushed red peppers. My friends and I decided to visit Lamella Tavern on a Thursday evening for some after work drinks. It happened to be a live music night so all of the tables were reserved (it's a small space to begin with), but we were able to snag some bar seating. The ambiance was intimate and dimly lit, a great spot for a date. For drinks, I ordered an Espresso Martini, which the bartender informed me is made with bourbon at Lamella. While that's not usually my liquor of choice, the cocktail was extremely well made and I ended up loving it. My friends were also big fans of the Towanda and Who's On First. Overall, their signature cocktail list was impressive and Zachary the bartender was talented and fun. I was starving so I also ordered the Artichoke Flatbread, which was phenomenal. It's probably meant for sharing but I finished the entire thing myself - delicious pesto, crispy artichokes, awesome texture. It's a great place for a drink- the bartender is just brilliant. The food choices are limited but I would go again in a heartbeat for a relaxing evening.
