Taking a bite together of the salmon, skin, zucchini, and sauce together was delicious. I was surprised. Grilled Peaches & Stracciatella Salad- This was refreshing. The juicy and sweet peaches went so well with the creamy stracciatella, while the arugula added a subtle peppery taste that balanced everything nicely. It almost acted as a palate cleanser for me. Crushed Crispy Potatoes- nicely crisp on the outside with the right amount of saltiness. Simple, but I just wanted to keep eating it. Rigatoni Bolognese - The pasta was cooked al dente and the rich meat sauce was full of flavor. I'd say this was a comforting dish with nice flavors from the meat sauce. The service was fantastic. Our waitress, Sierra, checked on us often, kept our water glasses filled, and cleared our plates promptly throughout the meal. As for the ambiance, we chose to sit indoors, which was quieter and more intimate than the lively outdoor patio. There was a soccer game going on, so the outdoor area had a fun and energetic atmosphere as guests ate and watched the game. Overall, we had a memorable dining experience at Augustine. Service was actually the most notable part of the meal, and not entirely for good reasons. Food came out promptly and the staff were attentive, but our waiter made a noticeable shift midway through. The "are you good?" check-ins started feeling less like hospitality and more like a nudge toward the door. Dessert menus disappeared quickly and payment followed shortly after. To be honest, my expectations were tempered a little bit because after previewing the menu beforehand, it didn't look terribly impressive for the price. We ordered five dishes total, to be shared among the three of us: the savory Dungeness crab donuts, citrus-cured salmon tartare, harissa-spiced carrots, crushed crispy potatoes, and roasted cauliflower. I was a little concerned at first that this meal wouldn't be very filling since we ordered so many vegetable dishes, and I was totally wrong. Everything was delicious, and the vegetable dishes in particular surprised me with how flavorful and tasty they were. For dessert, we ordered the old-fashioned crullers, which are similar to donuts. The staff were so nice and attentive, even making sure to place the newest dishes down as we were taking photos. The private room we were in was really nice and luxurious feeling, as we didn't have to shout to hear ourselves over the other patrons' chatter. Highlights for me were the crispy potatoes. Oh, those were perfectly crispy but still soft. I could just eat that! I ordered the burger with fries and the burger was perfectly cooked. Santana Row has A LOT of new restaurants and we haven't been to any of them. Well, we knocked off 3 (yes, 3!) in one evening: Suspiro, Augustine, and Zazil. Augustine was our second stop, after Suspiro. It was the complete opposite of Suspiro, vibe wise. It was pretty dead inside, darker, more serious, and honestly, we were a little worried. But we sat down at the bar and ordered two drinks (a clarified Long Island iced tea and The Aficionado with tequila, mezcal, braulio, maple syrup, walnut, and angostura bitters), truffle french fries, and a duck confit cannelloni. The cocktails were solid, but it was the service and food that impressed us. They were just super attentive and brought me all the sauces for the French fries - ketchup, aioli, and a crème fraîche with chives - which were perfectly made with real black truffles. After food came out, the waiter never came back to check on us. Water ran dry with no refill. Dishes took forever to clear, and check took forever to come out. - Salmon Tartare, $24 (5*) Wow wow wow! Excellent salmon tartare. The toasted rice added a delightful textural component. The little pops of spice from the peppers was perfect. - Vegetable Salad, $22 (5*) Hard to be inventive with salad, and we were a bit surprised to hear there was no dressing. But truly none was needed! The orange, beet, dill, goat cheese mixture in one bite was perfect! - Duck Confit Cannelloni, $30 (4*) Really flavorful bites. Just wish there was a little something fresh to cut through the richness. - Beef Kefte, $18 (3*) Despite being described as ultra tender, I found these, while flavorful, to be a bit on the dry side. - Value (4*) For well executed food in reasonable portions set in Santana Row ambiance... pretty good. - Final Word Some real standouts in food make me want to come back and try more. Decided to give it a go with a group of friends. Ambiance was nice while seated outdoors, comfortable seating to accommodate our group. We ordered items for ourselves and some things to share. To be honest the only few things worth noting were the Fried Chicken & Caviar. The Kettle Chips were good too, but it's hard to go wrong when both things are fried and with caviar? Forget about it. We also shared the Old-Fashion Crullers, which were good, but just ok. Personally ordered the Garden Vegetable Salad and felt that it was anything but that. A few slices of avocado, beats, seeds and thinly sliced crisp bread. The portion was similar to that of fine dining, about 5 bites and the "salad" was finished. Not sure if their lunch or dinner menu is much better, but felt that their brunch was lacking. Service was great and gave recommendations. Price point is expected from a prestigious group. I would recommend opting out of brunch and perhaps may have a better experience dining for lunch or dinner, which I will probably have to do as well the next time I'm in the area. read more

Simple and sophisticated is how I would describe this place. The service was excellent, our waiter was very patient. Large amount of seating both indoor and outdoor. Fancy vibes but also would feel comfortable wearing comfy clothes. The food selection was small and mostly carbs. It tasted great, but was pricey for what you get. Came here for brunch and it was good overall. I made reservations just in case, but it actually wasn't very crowded right when they opened. We tried a few dishes. The savory Dungeness crab donuts weren't bad. The donut itself was great, but the crab was just OK to me and had a bit of a fishy smell. The buttermilk pancake, though, was amazing. So thick, so fluffy, and that lemon butter was perfect. I ended up taking most of it home. I'd definitely order it again. The hand-rolled cavatelli was really good too, though it didn't have any kick to it. My brother ordered the Augustine Breakfast, and there wasn't anything particularly exciting about it. I definitely want to come back to try more brunch items. I'm especially eyeing their fried chicken. I just wish they served the pancakes all day, not only during brunch.
