I've always loved Emack and Bolio's since my Murray Hill days, where the service and selection were consistently great. Naturally, I was excited when a Long Island City location opened. Unfortunately, this location has been a letdown every time. Flavors are often out of stock, the shop feels disorganized, and lines can take 20 minutes or more. On my most recent visit, I was the first person in line, yet when the employee finally came out after several minutes, they began taking orders from the back of the line and completely dismissed me until I spoke up. It was rude and unprofessional. To make matters worse, the flavor I ordered--S'mores--was unavailable because it had melted and was being refrozen. Overall, this location feels understaffed, understocked, and poorly managed. Sadly, I won't be coming back. read more

I was so excited to see they opened an LIC location, as a fan of their Brooklyn location. I love their unique rotating flavors and the hot fudge is among the best I've had as far as local ice creameries. They offer a few seats indoors and there are benches outside that are a bit harder to snag than the indoor seats. I have previously ordered individual ice cream servings (cups/cones) which have all been phenomenal but the cake prompted me to write a review. Ordered a birthday cake which could not have come out better. Chose grasshopper pie and chocolate Oreo with an Oreo layer. Classic white frosting and sprinkles. This cake was delicious. One of the best cakes I've ever had. The service could not have been friendlier and accommodating when designing the cake. Just allow for approximately 3 days. We've been here a few times, there are limited seats inside (not really any tables). I think it's more of a grab and go place. They have ice cream and smoothies! We tried the energizer smoothie (it tasted like strawberry and bananas) and it was pretty refreshing. You can also create your own smoothie. There was one person working on a Sat afternoon so when there are a couple people in line there can be a wait especially since the smoothies take some time to make as opposed to the ice cream. Tried the Bean town buzz which is coffee with delicious crunchy coffee beans, I liked it so much I found myself digging for beans around my cup. Chocolate moose was smooth chocolatey goodness can't go wrong. The only thing strange was the seating area, there were short chairs next to high table and tall stools next to a low window. That area could be made a little more welcoming, but they did have good AC which was nice during a heatwave. Prices weren't too crazy, I'll def be back for more! read more

An okay ice cream spot - I believe it's the only one in LIC so it'd be great if it sticks around a while! They have fun ice cream flavor names, and allow you to try samples. There are a few tables, but I think there could be even more given the amount of space inside. After seeing the "#1 in Boston" sign out front in LIC, we had to stop in just because we found that funny. And wow - am I glad we did! Hands down, the toasted s'moreo flavor is one of the best flavors I of ice cream I have ever had - all of the different elements shined through perfectly in harmony, and it was absolutely delicious. It is a small spot but has all you need. They have a wide variety of cone which are super tasty. Also, the prices are really decent. I got the space cake flavor and it was to die for. My wife and I went to Emack & Bolio's during their soft opening on April 16, 2023. They had a great variety of vegan options: cappuccino fudge swirl, mint chocolate freckle, toasted coconut, goa mango, and raspberry chocolate Krupa rice. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to try different flavors out. I got the mint chocolate freckle and my wife got the cappuccino fudge swirl. I really enjoyed the mint chocolate freckle. It was similar to the typical mint chocolate chip but creamier. The cappuccino fudge swirl was a coffee flavor with a nice chocolate combo. I'll start off by saying that I think this place is a welcome addition to LIC. I have stopped by in person as well as ordered for delivery, the flavors are really good, and the experience has mostly been good as well. Unfortunately there are a few issues they need to work out with delivery. Sometimes they call and offer an alternative when a flavor listed on the delivery menu is not in stock, other times they just send whatever they feel like and it's a surprise when you receive your order. Aside from that, I just placed an order on Seamless today that was immediately cancelled -- when I pressed Seamless for a reason I was told "the restaurant is too busy." I get it, but then they should close off Seamless b/c that experience is not acceptable. I keep going back, but experiences like that over and over have begun to make me rethink. I would say for one to definitely go in person and avoid delivery orders. read more
