We've been looking for a really good Peruvian restaurant for some time and we have finally found "the one". We wanted some lomo so as gluttons we got 3 versions: the lomo saltado with fettuccine al pesto, traditional lomo saltado, lomo saltado a lo pobre (add on with fried egg and sweet plantains) and added the ceviche corvina last minute. Everything was seasoned perfectly. We have visited places where the lomo sauce was too salty and too syrupy or the beef cut was too tough but this one was mastered like it was high end cooking technique but tasted like abuela's home cooking. The stir fried beef was cooked to perfection and super tender. The onion and tomato were stir fried JUST RIGHT. Not over cooked nor undercooked. The fettuccine al pesto was excellent, it's the perfect blend of alfredo and pesto sauce together. Honestly, the thing that keeps me up tossing and turning is that ceviche corvina. This is by far the best ceviche corvina I have had, even the ones down in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, nope it's here in west Boca. The fish was SUPER FRESH and tender, the sweet potato must have been prepped to be sweetened because it perfectly balances the acidity of lime juice and marinated red onions. Their lime juice marinade is unique. It's more of a light creamy consistency instead of watery compared to other places and I'M ALL FOR IT. Excellent taste, texture, freshest ingredients... my god just go order it. The atmosphere is also very modern and clean. The bar is the center view. We appreciated our host as he offered seating outside near the playground for the kids but per our request he seated us indoors since it was a little cool outside. It was a difficult decision to make but our seats indoors was a prime spot in the center and we couldn't refuse! Overall, excellent place and I will make a beeline straight for the ceviche. Stumbled upon Embarcadero 41 with my family after we were popping around the shopping center - the restaurant is adjacent to a really cute little kids play area with turf, hula hoops and jumbo connect 4. My son was having so much fun that while we had other dinner plans, we decided to stay and eat so he could keep running around - a serious perk for families with little ones. Anywho, we ordered a TON because the menu is amazing and has so many yummy options - started with the beef and chicken tequenos and yuca fries followed by the seafood causa, kids fish and fries and the lomo saltado which comes with pesto pasta. Everything was sooooo delicious and cooked perfectly. We also got a couple of cocktails and they were yummy and well balanced. Tried out this new place with friends for lunch. There's 3 choices for lunch special. They got the order mixed up so we ended up getting one of each but that was fine. Service was good and and food presentation also good. The seafood rice was really good. My friends all liked the food too. My only problem was after lunch I got explosive stomach cramps all day. Even on the second day, I'm still having stomach issues. The only thing different I ate from my friends was the seafood rice. I don't know if it was the sauce on it or what. The noise inside makes conversation impossible. Outside is much nicer. The ceviche is great. BUT -- our server was completely overwhelmed, was literally sweating from serving tables inside and outside, some entrees came out long after others at our table were served and eating. When I pointed this out to the owner who served the last dish, his response was snide and something like "we're busy and it's only been 5 minutes since the first round of entrees were served". Basically Beef with White Rice and French Fries. This time I decided to be more adventurous and chose the Tacu Tacu Con Salsa De Mariscos. It's a Rice and Canary Bean dish which is fried then shaped into a big Pancake topped with a savory Seafood Sauce which made for a tasty and hearty Meal. The appetizers which I had earlier included Mussels, Seafood and Yuca Fries. GOOD. To finalize the evening 2 Mousse Desserts were selected. GOOD. They were Suspiro De Limeno which had a Caramel like taste and Terremoto De Lucuma which tasted similar but perhaps a bit more sweeter like Butterscotch. The evening started with a few Drinks which included the Pisco Sour and the Chilcano. This Restaurant was packed and busy on a Tuesday night during non-season with the snowbirds still out of town. Horrible experience. There are much better Peruvian restaurants in Boca. Waitress pushed me to get a special that she insisted was so good. I told her I want healthy and it wasn't. I didn't ask for the price because most of the main dishes where around $19 so how much more could it be. Got my dish and it was 1 split tiny langoustino. It was spicy and not good. I got charged $60 for that rip off dish. They charged it as if they gave me lobster which they didn't. My husband's steak was not good. Service was terrible too. I would give them a 0 if I could. We do love Peruvian food and yes there are much better Peruvian's in Boca. Do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant. Very disappointed. read more
