So.... what an adventure to drop in here way far away near the Walkersville area of Frederick. The rink itself looks like it could be from any era in the last 50 years, but really, what do you want from an ice skating rink? Parking is easy. Finding the location is easy. Going to the register and paying for your pass and rental (if you don't have your own skates) is easy. The cost is incredibly low - I feel like they were cheaper than when I was in high school back in the day in a land far far away from this place. Anyhow, getting your skates, also incredible easy. They have lockers for your stuff that cost you, wait for it, 2 quarters! So cute! They have a few vending machines, mostly ice cream, and a snack bar where you can get some cheap food and beverages. It is not expensive by any measure. They have teams and others who train and play here, but they have open skates. The open skates are usually on the weekends. And, again, wow, I could not believe how cheap. We had a great time skating, but since we're not 12 year old children, our bodies were a little less flexible and a lot more sensitive, so we didn't even last the whole 1.5 hour session. Ha ha! We still had a fabulous time, and will probably go back winter holidays 2024 for a new tradition. In other words - highly recommended for a cheap, short adventure!

These boots were not purchased here, but they were happy to help me out. Mark helped me, and was able to complete the work in less than an hour. There was about a 45 minute wait from the time I signed in, until I was waited on.....to be expected at this time of year. I…read morestopped by the Harford Road location to grab them and was told they were only available at this location. So, a few days later, my kids and I headed there. When I entered this location, the owner, Gary, was working. He was talking to a prospective vendor so we perused the shop while he worked with him. My kids were enamored with the boards and, feeling generous, I figured I'd get one for them. After assisting the vendor, Gary turned his attention to us. I told him what shoes I wanted and the size and he quickly handled that. Then I started asking about the boards. He asked some questions and then was able to make recommendations that allowed me to eliminate a number of boards on the walls. Then I had my kids select one. After getting the board, Gary showed us the skate ramp in back. He gave me a card and told me that if the kids ever wanted to do lessons he could work with them. Such a great experience! Next time I need shoes or skate equipment, Vu will be the first place I go.

I've been going to Fishbone for years and they've always been nice. Same people have been there for EVER so they know what they're doing. It's a fun place to go because they have a bit of everything. Lots of shoes, especially. Like, skate brands, urban brands but also ones that your mom would want, like Vionic or Dansko. Plus all the trendy ones the teenagers love like Vans, Converse, Adidas. In the winter they got some killer boots and I got a fantastic pair of Hoka One One running shoes there before. They also have sportswear and outdoor brands like Patagonia and Mountain Hardwear (which they just started carrying in women's sizes, whoo-hoo!!). Some Marmot too, I think? And disc golf discs! But also they got trinkets and fun stuff. Like Funko Pops, hemp necklaces, Manic Panic hair dye, tie-dye everything, posters, concert tees. Also THE BEST place for hats in the mall. Hands down. They were nice but didn't do their job correctly and the price of a board was wasted. Staff sold a regular sized skateboard to parent for a 12 year old saying it was the right size. Clearly too big for the kid and was never used, not mounted, and they would not take it back though their policy clearly states exchange for store credit accepted with receipt. Error by the staff means customer problem. They even have sizing charts on some of their complete boards and ignorant employee failed to utilize it!! I won't take my business there again.
