Been eating here almost every other weekend for three years, you won't find a better steak in New Mexico and the staff was always excellent. Now for the bad news, it's under new management and everything became an extra charge. For example, a extra plate to share my food used to be free, now they have to charge me to split my plate and add in a few more veggies and potatoes, I didn't want or ask for more food, I had plenty already, I just wanted an empty plate. The whole evening, I kept hearing, that's now an extra charge. Two weeks ago, the waiter brought me a couple extra pieces of bread, I didn't ask, they just did it for free. This week, there was five of us, I asked for extra bread for myself and my guest, first words the waitress said was it's extra charge, however she brought extra for all five of us, then charged me for two orders since there was not a way to charge for just five pieces of bread . A $52 steak and you have to nickle and dime us ! On the second night of our road trip we met in-laws here at the Isleta Resort Casino and had a five-star meal. It consisted of a Chilled Shrimp Cocktail with large and meaty shrimps, a cheesy French Onion Soup, a fine Steakhouse Wedge Salad with crumbled Blue Cheese Dressing, excellent flakey white Roasted Seabass with Parmesan Risotto and Lemon Butter Sauce, and Grilled Asparagus. I'd like to say we had a good experience to Embers. We ordered Prime Rib, and it was explained it was their best seller. The meat was hard to cut with a steak knife and had lots of fat. They refused us service and a table. And said if we want to eat dinner there, we will have to wail until after 7 pm. Its not surprised that they are probably losing money and have to raise prices soon. Requested to talk to manager and was not allowed to talk to her. Stopped here on the way to SLC Utah and we were not disappointed. We had the prime rib with mashed potatoes and their asparagus for a side. We really enjoyed Ember's steakhouse. We went in May for a parent's night out. We got a room at the casino and went to a concert there. We figured Embers was the easiest option, and we are so happy with our choice. The steak was of course hood, but we started with the mussels and they were AMAZING. So good! I'd read the reviews and knew that Embers needed a reservation for a Saturday night dinner for two. After making a reservation they texted a confirmation request to me on the day prior. Despite the confirmed reservation, we had a 15 minute wait for a table. Our server, Paul, was very polite and helpful. We planned on cocktails and then wine with dinner but the bar service was slower than the kitchen and drinks didn't arrive until after the appetizer mussels (very good) were served. About 3/4 of the way through the mussels, our main courses arrived. My prime rib was a winner but we had to ask Paul to take the filet mignon back for some time under the broiler as the meat was red instead of the ordered pink. Staying at the Isleta for the Imagine Dragons Concert. Unfortunately it is the only option within the casino but it could be worse. The other options are a mini food court within a smallish casino but that's another review. We were originally seated at a bar height table. Not really what I wanted for a nice romantic evening plus on of the tables was wobbly. Got the two tables pushed together setup where the crack is right smack in the middle. We politely asked to be seated at a regular table, which the happily obliged. Menu is pretty basic and straight forward. Not much creativity compared to some foodie places. We ordered Sea Bass, Scallops and a filet. The seafood was cooked to perfection and delicious. Fair warning, the scallops are swimming in butter. The steak..... was good. We ordered medium rare so that should put anybody on notice that they know their steaks and how they want it. Now I'm not one to immediately pull out my phone and snap a picture but I would say it was medium at best, closer to medium well. Already committed and not willing to wait, I ate it only after reminding them that it was ordered with béarnaise sauce. Pretty middle of the road.
