It was fun to go to one of the oldest steakhouses but overall was just ok. Steak was just ok. Waitress said fries are homemade and really good. They were undercooked with no flavor. Jumbo shrimp weren't good. Ambiance is dim and very cluttered. Service was good. Long line starting around 530p. Oh the homemade ranch dressing in the salad was really good.

TBH having a bad experience at lunch here right now. The waitress brought a Guinness with no glass. I had to ask twice before I got it. Then 15 minutes after ordering, the waitress came back to us,she'd misplaced the paper she'd written the order on. Still waiting on our food. I get that they're busy... but pretty annoying. Once the food came it was good as always. But a more experienced waitress would have comped our beverages or something

You walk in and out prepare for the dark. While I usually don't visit places that are too dark but my friends said let's try the place. I would have to say it is for the elder crowd. Reminds me of places my grandparents would visit. The side salad is small and not much to write home about. Not impressed with the wait staff. I think the place is made to look old, seats need repairs. I had a salad and it was good. It was presented very nicely.

Went today for a birthday lunch. We arrived around 3:15 pm and were seated right away. Since we arrived between lunch & dinner so it was not crowded or loud. I ordered 12 oz. ribeye medium with baked potato butter only. My son ordered 14 oz. New York Strip medium also with potato butter only. Both steaks came out perfect as were the potatoes. The young man at the grill always does as excellent job with the meats he grills. Don't know his name, but he's been there for many years and wears his ball cap backwards. Waitress was on point and very friendly. By the time we left around 5:30ish it was packed and people were standing around waiting. After going there for many years I would suggest getting there between 2pm - 4pm to avoid waiting. They are closed Sunday and Monday.

So I came to this spot after talking to some of the locals about a good hometown steakhouse. Coming here on a Friday night with a reservation wasn't too bad. After about 30 min, we got sat and the staff was welcoming and attentive. The ambiance is pretty cool. It has an old school, low light, nostalgic feel. The food was pretty amazing, taking into consideration that this place is to the rear of a liquor store lol. Only complaint was too much fries, it felt like I ordered fries with a side of ribeye

The Monte Carlo has been an Albuquerque institution for decades. Lunch time you can see the who's who of Albuquerque politics. Tucked away behind a walk in liquor store (no kidding ) is a throw back to the days of low lit, nip and tuck booths and a small bar serving up delicious steaks and all the fixins. Toss in some Greek touches and you have the Monte Carlo Steakhouse. We started with a Gin Martini straight up with three olives (not 2) and a rum and coke. Salads with Italian dressing started us off on the meal. My wife had the ribeye with a loaded baked potato and I had the NY Strip also with a loaded baked potato . Bam they were cooked as ordered and delicious. If you've never tried this neighborhood gem then you need to beat feet down to Central Avenue just west of the Central Avenue Bridge.

Steak and local vibes. This is a local hang out for sure. Liquor store in front and you can feel the nicotine from years of smoking hanging on the walls. This place is old and worn and the steak is delicious and not fancy. Expect solid fare, served fast, for a good price, by nice staff. Beer in bottles only. I recommend a steak or something off the specials menu.

Holy moly guacamole! I'm not going to beat around the bush. Go get a steak! Like, right now. I don't think over ever had a steak as heavenly as this one before. Normally, I like steak sauce and dip my beef in it. No sauce needed. The flavor explosion was phenomenal. And the French fries! So fresh upon delivery (the picture only has half the fries- I attacked first, then remembered the picture). Oh and our waitress was very awesome!

This was my first time here. My husband has visited here once before me. He wanted me to try it out. A classy restaurant with a chill vibes atmosphere. Loved it! A place that is attached to a liquor store, who knew that this place existed. Parking wasn't too bad, although we visited during the day time. Not sure what the parking situation would be in the evening. The restaurant has a dark ambiance inside, so beware because your eyes will need to get used to it. Greeted by friendly staff members and seated right away. We got there right after lunch time so there wasn't a wait at all. Our waitress was so nice and patient with us. Trying to make decisions on what to order. The menu isn't as elaborate as most places but I knew this place was known for their steaks. Looking over the menu, we decided on sharing a Rib Eye steak and a loaded baked potato with bacon and cheddar. Started with fried zucchini. Had a side salad with ranch. The food was good. I love how rich the flavor of the steak was. Cooked to your liking as well. It was definitely a big meal for us. I couldn't eat a steak by myself. But the portion is pretty big. We'll be back again for sure. This place was good. Thank you.

Ask the Community - Monte Carlo Steak House

Are they pet friendly? How bout service animals?

I'm sure the owners are cool w/service dogs because they are vet; service: first responders supporters. Maybe call and ask them. I can't imagine them otherwise. I know they are some of the friendliest familia I've met in past 40 years in New Mexico

    Is liquor sold?

    Yes

Do they except. Credit cards? Do they except credit cards?

They do accept them now. I know many of Albuquerque's best don't but Monte Carlo is getting with the flow of the 21st Century!

Crispy Brussels sprouts had great flavor but way too much cayenne pepper (which adds nothing but heat) my husband ate them but said he would prefer less heat. I had 2 bites and gave up. Baked brie was amazing I loved the granny Smith apples! My husband loved them too. We also got the hummus duo which has dates on it and I used a date in the brie that was fantastic! I'll ask for that next time! It was the bomb. Hummus duo was good the watermelon radish was beautiful on the plate but gave both hummus a bitter flavor. Shrimp and grits. We live in Alabama currently and this was our least favorite dish of the day. Shrimp were cooked well and so were the grits but there was just something else it needed. Parmesan cheese and some onions maybe. Greek salad delicious. The flash fried chick peas made it. We needed more dressing and the wait staff was prompt and sweet about it. Spicy Lime Ceasar was ok till he requested more dressing then it was amazing. I was afraid of ordering it but the dressing wasn't too spicy . White sangria I had was disappointing it was more of a 1995 wine spritzer than a wine infused with citrus which is the very essence of sangria. It was ok and had I ordered a wine spritzer I would say yummo but I ordered sangria. Pork Belly flat bread was the winner of the night the tomato jam made that dish. I would love more on it next time but we will definitely be ordering that dish again! Yes we had a lot of left over food! But I love sampling a menu and this menu has a lot to offer. We will be back to try 4 or five other things. I look forward to my return.

In a rare turn of events, both kids got the same thing, the Korean chicken bites with the sauce on the side, which was a great decision bc it did have a kick to it. The chicken itself was a bit dry. Both adults also got the pork belly flatbread. I found it a bit unbalanced with too much sauce and not enough other toppings, and the base wasn't as crispy as I prefer. Speaking of crispy, we opted for the appetizer brussel sprouts, and they were a bit chewy and on the not so super crispy side. Service was fine, and glad to have a little break from heavier New Mexican cuisine on this night. Lots of variety on the cocktail and adult beverage menu too.

After several locals recommended Antiquity, we quickly learned why reservations are so hard to come by. We couldn't secure a table on our actual anniversary, but managed to get one a couple of nights later, and it was well worth the wait. From the outside, Antiquity is understated. Step inside, however, and you're immediately welcomed into a warm, intimate atmosphere that feels like a hidden gem tucked away in Old Town Albuquerque. Owner Steve, who has been running the restaurant for nearly three decades, greeted us personally. His passion for hospitality was evident from the moment we arrived. While we waited briefly for our table, he took time to learn about us, ask what types of food we enjoy, and offer thoughtful menu recommendations. The restaurant itself is charming and authentic, with an old-world steakhouse feel that perfectly complements the historic New Mexico setting. Many of the tables and booths are arranged to create private, intimate dining spaces, making it an ideal choice for special occasions. We were touched when Steve seated us at what he called the "anniversary table," complete with a small scattering of heart confetti, despite our celebration having technically passed. Service throughout the evening was exceptional. Rather than relying on a single server, the entire staff worked seamlessly together. Water glasses were never less than half full, empty plates disappeared almost instantly, and every member of the team seemed genuinely invested in ensuring guests had a memorable experience. Even the kitchen staff engaged warmly with diners, adding to the welcoming atmosphere. As for the food, it exceeded every expectation. We started with oysters on the half shell, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. I upgraded to the special salad, a beautiful combination of greens, apples, strawberries, mandarin oranges, walnuts, bacon, and a creamy mini brie, all brought together with a delicious pear vinaigrette. For our entrée, we chose the Châteaubriand for two. It was expertly prepared, carved tableside, and cooked perfectly. Every recommendation we received was spot-on, and the meal was so impressive that before leaving, I made another reservation for later that week just so I could return and try more of the menu before our trip ended. Antiquity offers beer and wine rather than a full bar, which was perfectly fine for us and fit the restaurant's classic, understated character. This is not an inexpensive dinner, nor should it be. What you're paying for is exceptional food, genuine hospitality, flawless service, and an atmosphere that is increasingly difficult to find. Antiquity doesn't simply serve dinner, it creates an experience. If you're visiting Albuquerque and looking for a memorable meal, especially for a special occasion, this restaurant deserves a spot at the very top of your list.

No, so don't expect change for the sake of patrons' convenience. At least the person who answers the phone, and frankly, that's more than you get from most restaurants these days. Very unassuming on the outside. Inside, you can tell it's an established place that's been around for a while. Arrived a few minutes early for our celebratory reservation and were seated right away in a quiet, private book surrounded by art and dim lighting. For starters, my gumbo was good, and his salad looked as good as it tasted. For entrees, husband got sucked in by the specials and ordered the schnitzel, which (to quote Shania) didn't impress me much. To clarify, there was nothing wrong with it, but I've had a lot of schnitzel, and it just failed to stand out. I kept to the classics with a filet mignon. To my surprise, it left the same impression. Again, absolutely nothing wrong with it - cooked well, quality cut, etc. - but I've had more memorable steaks at High Noon Saloon. *shrug* Highlight: The servers were exceptional. Lowlight: The sconce / light fixture over our table was in need of a dusting. Overall: A lovely evening to toast my guy's significant professional achievement. Would recommend if you find yourself stuck in the rut of bad service when dining out. Antiquity's dinner service will remind you how a night on the town is supposed to feel!

She also seemed very distracted and did not have good recall when we were putting in our orders. She came back several times to ask what our drink orders were before finally bringing over the tablet to enter in the information right in front of us. Secondly, our food took forever to come. This also happened the first time we came to eat at social house a year ago, but it felt more pronounced this time. And the restaurant was not full. Probably a third full of patrons? We were seated at 6:45 and our food did not arrive until 830. Quite the wait if you ask me. Finally, the kitchen was having some sort of smoke issue. If you've never been in an establishment where the grease smell and smoke is visibly accumulating in the air, you know it's quite distracting from a dining experience. It was so smoky inside. I actually caught myself blinking my eyes to see if it was just my vision being blurry or if it was the room. Our food was fine, the pork belly was a standout. Otherwise, I'm not sure I need to come here again. I wish that they would get a better handle on service timing, because that seems to be an ongoing issue.
