Emerald Chinese Cuisine at Jamul Resort was just an okay experience overall. It's definitely on the pricier side, so I went in with higher expectations. The menu is interesting because it offers a range of Asian dishes, not just Chinese food, which gives some variety. The interior is nice and fancy for a Chinese restaurant, smaller so if you have a big group it might be hard to accommodate. We ordered the surf and turf, and the salt and pepper lobster. The siu mai was fine, but the lobster was disappointing I'd skip it. It was deep fried, not very flavorful, and didn't feel worth the price. You get about five lobster tail halves for around $40, which didn't feel like a good value. The surf and turf was also deep fried and then stir-fried in sweet heat sauce. The sauce was tasty, but the dish didn't feel very authentic. Service was okay. When I asked questions about some dishes, our server didn't seem very knowledgeable and kind of brushed off my questions, which made ordering harder. I might try other dishes next time since the menu is large, but this visit was just average for me, especially for the higher price point. read more

I decided to come to Jamul casino on NYE. Emerald happened to be one of the few dining options we opted to try. I would say they didn't disappoint. The portions are flavorful and generously large, all priced modestly. The thai style fried rice was delicious with the seafood crab meat and shrimp. I think it has a unique taste compared to other fried rice dishes. The orange chicken was crunchy, with succulent juices. The duck noodle soup was decent in flavor. Finally, we gobbled up the Szechuan eggplant quite rapidly. That must have been our fave. In the end of the meal, we had a lot of leftovers. So we decided to eat the duck noodle soup clean, since it's difficult to pack that home. Again, unexpectedly large portions for a modest price. read more

We have tried almost every item on this menu and keep coming back to the bbq fried rice. Every time we have food credits, we use it all up on bbq fried rice. It is the best fried rice out there. Yes, fried rice is super easy to make but their version is so addictive. The rice that they use is short grain rice and it's dry not wet which makes it the perfect fried rice. This restaurant is inside Jamul Casino. My friend and I ordered some food here to go. It was all wonderful. We had a noodle dish that was absolutely delicious. We also have the beef and broccoli that was so good and flavorful. And. I am normally not a fan of honey for this absolutely amazing. Prices for also very reasonable. Less than $20 a dish and then if you're eating remember at the casino you get a discount as well. Brought ours home which was 30 minutes away and everything was packaged great. Portions are decent and the quality is also decent. Since this is a casino, the ambiance is always a bit noisy or loud. Went here last night for a late dinner. Ordered seafood chow mein, peppered angus beef and whole fish fried. Everything started well until we got to the chow mein, found a long white hair stuck on couple of the noodles. Told one of the server (Ashley) about it and she said "there's a hair in YOUR noddle" not our noddle that response made me upset. Instead of just replacing the item and get it resolved she i spirited it isn't their noddle. Asked another server and she gave it back to the kitchen and tried to get it replaced. We could hear the kitchen crew arguing that it Irene their hair at all. It's embarrassing how they're more concerns who's hair rather than getting it resolved. Then there was a manager there DID NOT even came to us to check what's going on. That whole experiences was bad. We come here almost twice a month now we will not go here for a while. Don't take my words for it. This is just our experienced. We have spoken to the F&B manager afterwards and told him the entire story. My 75-year old mama is very strict with her salt intake so I asked the server to lessen the salt and make the veggies a little bit overcooked coz she wears dentures and its much easier for her to chew. I am kinda hesitant because most of the time, restaurants would stick to the standard taste and ways of cooking. So when the food was served, I tasted it first and to my surprise, it was done according to our request. Surf & Turf - it was very delicious. Less salt but the taste is still there. The beef was so moist, the veggies as requested to be a lil bit overcooked, the sauce was on point. Generous amount of shrimp too! Chicken Asparagus - oohh my mama loves it too much! Chicken is tender, she can chew well the asparagus, less salt but tasty. Everything is on point. When I asked the server who cooked the food, said it was CHEF ALLAN ANG. Commendation for this chef because he was able to pull it off, granting customer's request specially for older folks who have a strict diet. It was a busy night but still he managed to cook everything accordingly. Emerald is lucky to have an employee like him who prioritizes customer satisfaction. I think the food can go up a notch better, but I think the chefs are limited to what they can cook and dictated to cater to general population only (B- to C). I would highly recommend their Salt & Pepper crab. As someone who does take note of service our server Nimfa was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Her attentive nature made us feel like we were being cared for throughout our visit. Not needing to ask for a refill , she was already on top of it. This made our experience even better. I wish I was reviewing the food. And I hate to say or imply what I'm gonna imply. We were seated after waiting a little bit. Tiny table barley for two. Finally took our order. We then noticed other tables became empty & quickly filled . But to our surprise within a few minutes their food arrived. Then another table and thier food arrived. I got up and approached the hostess. Explained what was happening. Her response was " it all depends on your server " We noticed they were all speaking in their native language. English at that moment was a foreign language. I belive 15 minutes or longer is too much time to wait. Only because dishes we ordered were being served at those recently occupied tables. We decided to vacate the premises. I don't believe that they even missed us . Eaten at hundreds of Asian restaurants this was a first for us. I see a lot of low reviews for Emerald, but it's generally been solid for me. My complaint is the service staff, who seem overwhelmed. Anyway, sat down to eat last night and for casino food, it was pretty decent. I'm a huge char siu fan, but the pork here is just a little too fatty for my liking. The shrimp noodles were good and the walnut shrimp is one of my favorites. The shrimp themselves are crispy and toss in a sweet sauce, but it doesn't compromise the texture of the shrimp. I know most people like the salted pepper wings, but I got for the salted pepper chicken. Tastes just like the wings but boneless. read more

Girls night out! While my roulette play can be unpredictable, at least I know I can get some tasty food at Emerald in Jamul Casino. My friend Jenna and I came with full appetites & were generally happy with our selections! Staff were friendly and attentive. We were greeted and seated immediately. We actually commented on how many staff were working (a lot) despite the restaurant not being too busy (we also ate early, like 5:15pm). We were both really happy with our spontaneous decisions to get Boozy Boba drinks. The black milk tea with boba and - get this - PATRON, were so delicious! My friend's eyes bugged out of her head after her first sip. It tastes almost like a Baileys or Kahlúa. Yum! Never had anything like it before. Our entrees were hot, flavorful and delicious! We would both order the Honey Walnut Shrimp & Orange Peel Chicken again. Crispy and generous portions, enough to take home leftovers. Downsides: the white rice was a little dry, didn't taste super fresh. The spiced brownie was not very good at all. It tasted grocery store bought, was dry and cold. They were out of a few things we tried to order first (Thai Tea and flan). Also kind of a bummer that I asked about the pancit (I love Filipino food) and our server couldn't make a recommendation on it because he hasn't tried it (at least he was honest). Some of the worst Orange chicken I've ever had, far worse than Panda Express. Completely dry (overcooked) with mediocre flavor. Also got our order completely wrong. This "restaurant" has bad cooks, bad workers, and bad food all around. I would say high prices, but everything is high now. Avoid this casino and its bad food. read more

Ok check this out. Since we can use a $25 dining credit almost every week at a few places inside the casino, this is one of our preferred choices. (When I say we, it's all her comps. I just enjoy the ride!) We've ordered several items that were a little above average for the most part, but portions are smaller. Flavors are decent on the Chinese items, as are the pad Thai style noodles. I thought the Phõ was very good. At least twice they forgot to give us rice with our order, so that kicked them down a star.. At times they can have a long line for orders but it does move faster than a snails pace. I would say overall pretty decent, most dishes we've tried had good flavors, not salty or too sweet. I do like that when you order for here they serve on nice plates and silverware. It would be nice if they could use eco-friendly containers for the to-go orders though. They must go through hundreds a day, shortening all our landfills life span. I don't like thinking about this stuff TBH, but it is reality. read more
