Updating my review as I had a very positive experience with the urgent care team last week. Getting an appointment was fast and easy. Front desk staff is very helpful and friendly, remembering me from a previous visit years ago. Intake and x-ray was thorough, and the staff were caring. Alex M PA-C, my provider, took time to physically check my symptoms and review the X-rays and clearly explained what was causing my pain. He is knowledgeable, empathetic and quite humorous. Good luck getting a call through. If you're an existing patient, don't waste an hour waiting for the front desk to pick up. Call as a new patient, because that line gets answered almost instantly. Also, be aware that you can't cancel appointments through the patient portal, and you can't decline through their appointment texts. Getting calls or emails answered is abysmally difficult, but they have no problem sending repeated mailed demands for $20 or threatening collections if you don't respond quickly, even when you have proof of payment. The care may be one thing, but the administrative side is horrific. read more

Be very careful with this group. Doctors seem to be OK but so many error the patient needs to catch. HIPAA violations, miscoded anesthesia went transferred to surgical center, mis-explained procedures and billing errors. Won't be back. read more

Waited a full hour after the appointment started before the doctor showed up. No explanation. Doc was (hopefully ) ok but the staff overall needs service training and an attitude change. Would not recommend this place. read more

Aside from that, the OT's are very knowledgeable and helpful for your recovery therapy. I received an email from Wanda apologizing and explaining she was waiting on my blood work... the blood work that was attached to the same email thread. She also apparently had no recollection and no record of our phone call, since she mentioned referring me to a physician we already ruled out due to wait time. I appreciate that she never meant to upset me (and believe me, my blood WAS boiling), but malice was never the problem. Just good old fashioned ineptitude. read more

I find the doctors very professional and able to relate well to the patients. But I just encountered the rudest person ever when calling about an appointment. She just challenged me and kept taunting me about missing an appointment that I have no recollection of making. She said it was a Medicare procedure to meet a doctor and then follow up with pt. She said my first doctor made a second appointment for me with another doctor for last Friday. I said no way, we never discussed this! If this was a doctor appointment why wasn't I reminded in an email? Even though I respect my pt person the last visit on October 24th, she put me through a strenuous back and leg exercise with someone new that I never should have participated in. She then proceeded to push my leg in a very uncomfortable position. Why did she do this when this was my last visit and all I needed was refresher exercises for my knee and leg. Why do these seemingly inappropriate exercises when I wasn't returning ? One week later the lower back pain began and continued to get worse that I went to Duke primary care for ex rays and care. I have been referred to a spine specialist. I missed an important trip to NYC and have experienced pain daily. I attribute all to the leg/back exercise with weights and the harsh leg stretches. Again, this is my first bad experience. But I really think they need to monitor their receptionists. read more

I had a high ankle sprain that was still swelling, tight and painful after a year of rehab. Finally I got an MRI and met with Dr. Viens. My MRI was ruled normal, but he trusted me and decided to try a cortisone shot. I am FOREVER grateful to him because my pain is gone and I am back to running again. I can't even say how great it is to not be scared to run after a full year. He is an amazing doctor who actually listens to his patients. Thank you Dr. Viens!!! read more

I'm sure the doctors here are amazing. I've heard great things about dr silver specifically. Unfortunately the woman making appointments is terrible and RUDE. They should really look at replacing that woman as she is the first person you talk to when scheduling an appt :( read more

I had a good first meeting with Dr Viens about foot difficulties. The rest is awful. One star is the lowest rating I could give, I'd give far lower. The EMERGE centralized telephone system is horrible. Also, EMERGE sells orthotic products in the office that they take no responsibility for. A shoe insert was recommended/offered to me for sale by the physician assistant. I was advised to buy the insert direct from EMERGE at half the manufacturer's price and "try it". I did. The insert did not work out, so I returned it within 8 days and was told that the doctor's office where I bought it doesn't refund my money, the manufacturer does. So I had to go figure that out myself and get my money back from some business in San Diego. I was not told that information when I bought the insert but SHOULD HAVE BEEN. I had to call the manufacturer repeatedly, the EMERGE billing department repeatedly, their product representative repeatedly, even the doctor's assistant. Guess what? NO ONE IS RESPONSIBLE. It is three weeks later and not only do I not have my refund, but the manufacturing company has sent me a bill of double the original amount and is making collection calls to me for that bill. A bill for NOTHING. I left that insert at the EMERGE office three weeks ago! I am waiting for someone at EMERGE to step in a get me my money back. No, never go back there. There are other less muddled, more responsible practices. read more

I had a great experience with knee replacement surgery and rehab. Unfortunately, I have go back for the other knee. When I had to reschedule multiple times, they were patient and professional. Great team in Durham/Chapel Hill. read more
