Half hour after my appointment time, I went to the counter to let them know that I was unable to wait any longer because I had another appointment to get to. The person at the counter said that the online check in doesn't work.And that they could take me at that time. Unfortunately, since I had given them as much time as I could.I was not able to get my blood work done there.I will be rebooking in a different location. It seems to me that if the location knows that they're online check in system is not working.And they see someone sitting in their waiting room for forty five minutes unattended that perhaps they should check in and see if perhaps that person did the online check in. Before the 15 minutes were up, a really nice physician came to examine me. She was professional & friendly. When she learned they had already tested me for COVID, she went to check on the results. For the first time, I was diagnosed with COVID. I had dodged it for over 5 years. She gave me a typed out prescription as some pharmacy computer systems were down at that time. She explained how to take the medication. I was back in my car in close to 3O minutes after I arrived. Things I Appreciated: Making an appointment online Very short wait to be seen Seen by a physician Quick & accurate diagnosis Open on a Saturday/holiday weekend. I would definitely go there again when my primary care office is closed. I went there a few years ago & had a very positive experience then too.

I read some of the reviews about wait times, but I can't remember ever waiting for more than 10 minutes in the waiting room. And I usually spend less time waiting in the exam room (on occasion my doctor is ~15 minutes behind schedule). I do try to get early morning appointments for these reasons. I appreciate the phlebotomists when I get blood work done-- they are always friendly and quick, and I get my results back within a couple of days. Like most doctor's offices, the doctors themselves know a wide range of things, but in my opinion they are more incentivized to prevent a lawsuit than to actually solve your issues. On multiple occasions I was suggested a short-term fix for my issues (like medications that didn't really solve my issue) rather than a more holistic or well-thought-out approach. That's why I use this office mostly for yearly physicals/bloodwork and referrals, instead of comprehensive preventative care. But I can't blame Duke Health for this, it's more of an institutional problem in the US.

She put me on an extremely high toxic dose of T3 thyroid medicine that has made me extremely ill. There is another Yelp review where the same thing was done to another patient. I also received almost no guidance or support in the process of tapering off the meds. I had to pay $25 to ask medical questions. Her answers were always to suggest something I was already taking or something I had already told her I couldn't take as if my chart wasn't even checked. I did not find her care 'integrative'. There was no talk of mind, spirit, or nervous system regulation. No checking with symptoms. Everything was based on $$$$ in labs which were treated with $$$$ in supplements. Her focus was pushing energy when what my system needed was gentle support and nurture.
