I first visited Emerson's in 2025 for a friends birthday. It was a cute spot with a dimly-lit moody vibe that I loved. There was a dinner party at the time and laughter rang throughout the place, it was awesome. My boyfriend got the pork chop and talked about it for an entire year, so we went back for his birthday. This time, I got the salmon, which was grilled perfectly and really paired well with the risotto. The drink, dare I say a new favorite, it almost tasted like a pickle! I loved it! I really enjoyed this restaurant and would say it was one of the better meals i had when visiting. The service was phenomenal and the staff very attentive. I've been here a bunch of times and it's always amazing. The food they do well they do WELL! I typically get some appetizers, their Ceasar salad, and espresso martinis. Those are always reliable and delicious. This night we decided to try their crab cakes and pork chop dinners. The crab cakes were delicious. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and the sauce that pairs with it is perfection. We were a little disappointed in the pork chop. The carrots and stuffing were both amazing, but the pork chop itself was pretty fatty. The parts we were able to cut off and eat were cooked well, we were just disappointed we weren't able to enjoy all of it! Overall, I do love this place. I came here for with my coworkers for a birthday dinner after work today. The service on point - they had two server checking in constantly which was nice for the size group we had. We ordered a few appetizers, my favorite was the truffle fries and the Brussels sprouts. The truffle fries come with a really large shareable portion ( and I love fries so that was great). The vibe was really nice, the dim lighting and the ambiance was nice where one could go there for a date night but it was also really nice to go to with my coworkers to have a conversation where we didn't feel like we were interrupting. I would like to give another five star review to Emerson's since this time I went on a weekend night. The vibes are truly immaculate at this place. The lighting is perfect, and the way its decorated gives it a cozy home feel. The food was delicious as always and the drinks were perfectly curated. A recently met a friend here for dinner and I can't believe I haven't been here before! Emerson's is in market square. The door is a little unassuming. Once you go up a flight of stairs, you enter the cozy space of Emerson's. My friend and I both tried the banana bread espresso martini. It was SO good! We started with the mezze platter which has hummus, grilled pita, cucumber, red pepper, carrots, marinated artichoke hearts, and feta. Not only was the presentation beautiful, but the platter itself was delicious! For dinner, I ordered the salmon which comes with basil lemon risotto, and micro greens. I can't believe I haven't been here before. This place is well known and loved among my friend group, yet I somehow had not been. Tonight I was out for a couple of drinks nearby with a friend, we were hungry and she suggested this spot nearby. I was excited to finally check it off the list, but now I fear I have to become a regular. This place is so good! The food here is beautifully presented and upscale, while not being super expensive or pretentious. We wanted to split the grilled Caesar salad, but one of us is GF and the other is vegetarian. This meant we needed a non-anchovy dressing for the vegetarian, both dressings on the side, and the croutons in a separate bowl. Our server couldn't have been more happy to accommodate and I never felt like we were a problem. My friend got a beautiful looking filet with green beans and I got their vodka penne which was creamy and cozy and a perfect fall/winter meal. The portion was large and I ended up taking some home. I liked that I asked our server whether there was anything about the pasta that wasn't vegetarian, such as chicken or beef stock, and she immediately knew the answer. They just seem very thoughtful of all types of diners here. They had a beautiful and long list of specialty cocktails and wine selections, and also had three mocktail options right on that same menu which I as a non-drinker super appreciate as it makes me feel not like an afterthought. The vibe here is also very cool. Lots of cozy living room types of seating areas to enjoy a drink in addition to the bar and restaurant seating. One wall has an industrial, exposed look. I just really enjoyed everything about it. I really wanted to love this place. Everybody else seemed to love it so I was hopeful. I wasn't impressed with the interior at all and the high top seats were extremely close. It was very industrial like and not warm and cozy. The service was very good as was the French fries. My burger was average at best. Taste similar to Moonlight burgers, which I'm not a fan of. My husband had the beet salad, which was basically just micro greens and canned beets and salmon on top. He said the salmon was the worst he's ever had overcooked and tasteless. My son had the filet which he said was fine but not great.... for $55?!! Ugh! Daughter had the crab cake which she said was good but a lot of filler. And she said the corn cake muffin was dry. The ambiance inside is lovely and I like that the fireplace is actually warm. After seating us they took our drink orders and then our food orders. The drinks were lovely and the food even better. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Sherry Cobbler Sour - 3 stars - This cocktail contained bourbon, sherry, lemon, demerara, egg white, and cherry bitters. I thought that its flavor was OK. Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes - 4 stars - Two crab cakes were a medium size and contained much crab meat. They came with sweet chili aioli, lemon, and arugula. I liked their flavor. Emerson's Burger - 2.5 stars - The burger consisted of a brioche bun, beef patties, American cheese, onion, lettuce, special sauce, and pickles. My husband ate about one-fourth of this entree, and he described it as "bad." I took my one bite of his burger, and I thought that it tasted OK. I ate a couple of the side truffle fries, and I agreed with him that they were overcooked and too crunchy. The total cost for this one drink and two entrees was $73 *plus* a tip. read more

I have dined at Emerson's in large and small group settings, and it has been an incredible experience in both settings. The servers are attentive, the bartenders are personable, and the entire menu is a hit. The truffle fries can't be beat, especially when paired with their house aioli. Their pasta changes seasonally, but it has yet to disappoint me. RUN to Emerson's once the butternut squash sauce makes its appearance for the fall. To be fair I have only been to Emerson's for their Thursday night "hot girl combo" deal which comes with a salad, fries, and drink. I got reservations early (be sure to book in advance, they often fill up!) and went with a few girlfriends. We had a great time. Each of us ordered the combo, and I added chicken to my salad. The salad was great. It had a unique char on it which I appreciated and the dressing was perfect. I also am a sucker for truffle fries. Lastly, I got a dirty martini which was top notch. The restaurant itself is located off a side street of market square, so parking is difficult. I suggest finding a nearby garage. it is also located upstairs. It got quite loud in there which was our main complaint, but the place itself is very cute and cozy. I love the bar area too. I have spoken with others and it seems like this is a great spot for either their deals or snacks/apps and drinks. Truffle fries are incredible, with an awesome aioli sauce. I would absolutely recommend the burrata (the blistered tomatoes made it exceptional). This is such a hidden gem in Pittsburgh! When you're in here it's hard to imagine you're in market square. We booked reservations for dinner in honor of our 10 year wedding anniversary.
