Well, this is our 2nd time here and disappointed yet again. Our food came out cold. When the waitress came out to ask how's everything, I told her everything was cold. Her excuse was that the cooks are busy. I said, busy? The place is barely 25% full so the food should have came out piping hot. This was a great place for breakfast ,visiting from out of town went three times staff was friendly and attentive the food was excellent

So today I had the occasion to visit a pancake house with two babies, an eleven year old, and two exhausted parents. The corner booth we occupied was perfect for the older little guy who instantly became fixated on the curtain blinds...simple pleasures. The other youngster maintained a consistent slumber even with the multiple check ups and conditions of the entire room. I will say that the hash browns and eggs are what knocked this review down to a three star experience. The best part of this place is it's hesitated and the unspoken understanding of keeping the babies occupied. The eleven year instantly had a strawberry milkshake ten minutes into our visit and was silent throughout the meal. Getting back to those burnt hash browns and dry eggs. I ate everything, It is the custom of my house to clear your plate always. I ordered the Greek sizzling skilet and was also given a side of the cinnamon swirl pancakes...these were great! I wish I had known this was actually a thing sooner. Definitely something I'll be looking for the next time out for breakfast. I know this review is all over the place but if you eat here, it might make sense. This is a place for the weary who need a good meal and considerate service. The good might not be the most amazing thing in the world but it definitely gets the job done. Bring your babies, bring your kids, bring your parents and some hopes for peace of mind. Excellent service and excellent food. We arrived with a group of 9 for breakfast after giving them only 10 minutes notice. When we arrived, the table had been set up and coffee orders taken immediately. Service remained attentive throughout. The food was certainly a notch above with fluffy pancakes, real chunks of feta in the omelette, hot home made grits, crispy but not oily hash browns, etc. It was all good. Extra credit for the availability of Bloody Mary's for the breakfast drinking crowd in the group. The restaurant itself is spacious with lots of natural light so perfect for a daytime meal. Horrible breakfast experience. We've eaten here several times, mostly out of convenience because it's close to home. I usually get the vege skillet, and the vegetables just haven't been fresh recently. But bf is generally content with his meal, so it's been ok. Not this time. Food was wrong (skillet came without the usual skillet pan - it was just on a plate and it was cold) and incomplete (no syrup with pancakes) and waitress never returned to our table to check on us, so then all the food got cold as we were waiting. We had to flag down a busboy, who we then saw talking to the waitress, but she still didn't come to our table. Eventually bf had to go find the manager, who offered to bring us new food. Waitress showed up with the check - no apology and no discount or other compensation for our poor experience. We will not return. read more

We had an excellent breakfast at Emilys today. The place was crowded and I found out why, excellent breakfast and an excellent value for the price. Our server Sophia, was right on top of things and brought us everything we needed. I had the butcher omelette which was awesome and my niece said the pancakes were the best she ever had. I was shocked with no wait line on a Sunday morning @10 am . It must be due to weather because this place is great. Staff was genuinely happy and super friendly. Sam our server was very attentive; fantastic service!! Omg the meat lovers skillet dish was huge and delicious,the fluffiest and thickest pancakes I ever ate, 2 pancakes that looked as high as 4 pancakes. Awesome food ! Awesome service! I started out liking this place, but it seems to have unfortunately gone downhill. The food is okay, the service is very much lacking and the food quality does not justify the price. They are only open for breakfast/ brunch so they should not be surprised that there will be an influx of diners due to the short hours. After moving north from the O'Hare area, I came here on my search for great pancakes. I was sat rather quickly by a woman who seemed like she couldn't be less interested in her job or the fact that the restaurant was rather dank feeling and smelled of urine and mop water in need of changing. My order mercifully came rather quickly. The coffee was tastless, which wasn't helped by the spoiled half and half. The leathery, barely warm pancakes that tasted just like the surface they were cooked on held their own against the frozen pads of butter and resisted soaking up the flavorless maple flavored syrup. I've been to the Emily's in Waukegan several times and we really liked it. I was hesitant to try it after reading the reviews here but we gave it a shot. It's less than 5 mins from our house. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was great. The food was really good. The size of the portions was great. I had a special omelet with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and 2 cheeses. It was great. My husband really enjoyed his skillet and we ordered the pancakes for our daughter. 6 silver dollar pancakes and a milk for $3.99 is a good deal. We will definitely go back again. read more

I dont get it. Its always busy, and every 8-9 months i give it another try- over the last few years. i have yet to have anything above par. The price point is a little high giving the blah-ness of the food. I have never had an experience where they didnt completely mess up at least one meal at our table. Service is always slow, in my experience. To be fare it is usually busy, but i dont get why they dont figure that aspect out (more staff?). The other greasy spoons food, and service is better or at least comparable with lower price point. Thw down side is they are 7-10 miles from Lindenhurst. Which is probably this places biggest selling point, its close if you live in town. read more

Today I had a waffle, ate part of it and the waitress took it away after presenting the bill. She didn't ask why most of it was left behind, or if I was finished with it for that matter. However this morning when we went to breakfast I was totally disappointed in how poorly kept the restaurant is, the window wells are filthy filled with cob webs that look like dream catchers since they are coated in dust. The wait staff is all nice but lack professionalism. They are not well put together, they have on dirty wrinkled aprons that look like they have never seen a washer. We sat near the prep area and heard all sorts of foul mouthed discussion that someone who makes their living on tips shouldn't be having. If someone from Emily's reads these please ask your staff to dress nicer, look cleaner, because it really just turns off patrons to be in a dirty restaurant. read more

On February 21st at 10am me and my husband came in for breakfast.. we got a table right away which is normal service.. Besides me and my husband me and my mother are regulars in this location. The witness that we got on this particular day was not friendly at all. She came to ask if we wanted anything to drink we both ordered water with lemon.. that came to the table quickly . At that point we were ready to order .. we placed our order and about 20 minutes later are food comes. My husband order a eye white omelette with bacon. He received a regular egg omelette with ham.. we quickly tell her this isn't correct and her response was well can u just accept it because the kitchen is very busy.. I tell her no that he can't not regular eggs .. she picks up the plate and says nothing.. I am sitting there with French toast no syrup and eggs that are getting cold. We had to ask her for syrup. Then my husband breakfast comes out it is scrabbled egg whites still with ham and no bacon and no tomatoes.. we tell her it isn't right again but at this point we were over it.. she didn't ask to refill our water ... she did not take anything off the bill for the inconvenience.. it was poor service and I knew she was done servicing us.. I don't know if this was a new waitress or she had just a poor attitude but either way the service was horrible.. I go pay the bill to a hound girl up front and her response was well I hope the next time you come in you have a better experience.. Managers train your staff to handle customers that are unsatisfied.. we will not be back to this locations and will not be referring anyone here.. you lost a regular ... not even one star worthy read more

This restaurant is very close to home. We rarely venture out of breakfast on the weekends, but we decided what the heck. Service was good. Our waitress was nice and available without being intrusive. Menu is pretty large. There is a variety of sweet or savory options. Did not look at the lunch portion of the menu. The food was good. The prices are a little on the high side, but you get almost too much food. I'd rather see a lowering of the prices with a little less food. I mean do you really need to make a FOUR egg omelet? If you don't have high expectations for your breakfast meal...this is your place. I live about 3 blocks from here and was excited to have a close-by breakfast place in the neighboorhood. I have been there about 4 times since they opened and don't have any plans to go back. The food is not great. I could make it better at home. There are obvious short cuts that are taken with instant/boxed ingredients. For a breakfast/lunch only restaurant, I would expect more - especially for the prices. The prices aren't over the top, but not worth what they charge. What I have ordered: Biscuits & Gravy = The gravy tasted like it had chalk in it. The waitress confirmed, it was a box mix. No fresh meat in it at all. Greek Skillet = this was basically fried onions on a dish with oil everywhere. There were 2 little overcooked strips of gyro, overcooked (from frozen) hash browns and feta. The eggs on top (sunnyside up) were so UNDERcooked you could see the white of the egg running down into the rest of the food. Pancakes = This was probably the best of the meals I have had here, but again, nothing spectacular. Just like making pancakes at home from a Bisquick box. Breakfast Sampler (Eggs, Toast, Hash Browns, etc...) = This was similar to a Grand Slam at Denny. Sadly, Denny's is better and less expensive. Again overcooked (from frozen?) hash browns that are charred on the outside and chewy/dry on the inside. What is funny, is there is generally always a line and wait to get into this place. The food was pretty good,....my husbands skillet dish was given a thumbs up, and my mother-in-law said her omelet was great. My father in laws corned beef hash was very dry and overly salty. The biscuits and gravy i had where excellent, however i asked for my hash browns well done and they were not, more like cold......and the server never came by until the meal was mostly done, so by then, everybody would have been waiting on the check and me to eat my hash browns. Not a fan. I was so happy a pancake house was coming. I have tried it twice and will not go back. For my runny egg white omlette that was suppose to have bacon in it, not sure what the chunk like objects were but they were surely not bacon. The hashbrowns tasted funny and the $4.99 orange juice was warm. My son got some crispy bacon and it was like dust. Another person got a paninni, which was basically toasted bread that they threw on the grill to get the lines with really gross looking cheese. Nope not a fan and won't go back. For the $40 for the 3 of us that was high for the quality of food. We would eat here often, but service has really down down.. after taking our drinks order the waitress disappeard. When we asked her ABt our food, she said everyone is on a delay not just us and walked away. We got tired of waiting and as we are walking away she arrives and says don't you want your food. I said you disappeard don't check up and now want to ask if we want the food. NO I don't want the food. Then she screams across the dinning room floor to the manager how they are leaving because the food took too long. The manager tried go give us a gift card for next time. Average breakfast, below average service. Stopped here for breakfast on the recommendations of the locals, but not sure we have the same standards. Half of our party arrived after us and after waiting for our server for nearly 15 mins, finally got a host to track her down so we could order drinks. She took our food order through a painful process of only half listening leading to a lot of repeating and trying to clarify. After a really long wait with no drink refills, we finally got our food. Exceptional food may have made up for the lacking service, unfortunately it was only average and a bit over-priced for what you are served. Waitress didn't make it back with the drink refills until we were done eating and even checking out took just short of forever with the cashier moving very slowly (we were the only ones checking out so I'm not sure what that was about). My wife and I had breakfast on a Wednesday. Nice decor and quieter atmosphere than the former Las Palmas. I love the coffee carafe on the table. Wife had the bacon benedict (with avacado). She said it was very good. I had the Colorado omlette. Excellent ham and sweet onions in it. Very friendly staff.
