So I've know about the place for years and never really had much interest in stopping by. Yelp features a lot of mixed reviews and the trend appears down. I'm in agreement. On a Sunday morning, seating was immediate, so that is a good thing. There was nothing wrong with the service either. She had good timing and everything was delivered in just a few minutes after ordering. The problem I have with this place is that it appears as though they think they are one of the popular breakfast places in Libertyville or Lincolnshire. The pricing is outrageous for the local market and food portions. Note: The menu on their website is not the one in use at this location. Looks like everything has gone up 20% in price. The skillet I had came in at $11, This same skillet is worth $8 or (at most) $9 elsewhere locally and you're probably getting more. Yes, this is $11 or more in Libertyville, but this isn't there. Eggs and potatoes are cheap and I'd estimate the actual food cost for the skillet well below $1. At least the small portion of potatoes appeared well buttered, which saved it. You can have regular pancakes on the side or upgrade to "premium" for $4 more. I nearly fell out of the booth laughing at that. The Belgium waffle chimed in at $8 or so and adding a topping bumped it up to make it a $11 waffle. The portion and taste were decent. Nothing above ordinary. A side of bacon is $4. You get three slices. So overall I have to give it a "meh". If you're out in Lindenhurst and would like a solid breakfast and are not concerned about costs, this is good for you. You can also do just as well or better by passing through to Lake Villa or east Gurnee. Emily's Pancake House - Premium pricing without the premium setting. They should use that. read more

What happened to this place?!?! Used to be good service, good food at a good price. Now, not so much. Took 15 minutes for someone to take our order (not our waitress), even longer to get the weak coffees and 1/2 our food order. (everyone's dishes would have been too easy and predictable, right?). Prices have crept up and service standards dropped. Waitress who brought food apologized for taking so long as she's "really sick". I agree with a lot of the reviews here. The prices here are ridiculous. My wife ordered blitzes, and wanted fruit on it. The menu says 2.79 for either bananas, or strawberries. She asked if they could give her half bananas and strawberries for 2.79. Nope, 2.79 per fruit. So almost $6 for fruit topping???? CRAZY!! Then, when we asked to speak to a manager, she started to tell us how much they pay for stuff... Really??!!?? Use to come here often. Horrible, went in and the customers were more mindful of social distancing than the staff. Not one staff person was wearing a mask or gloves. Ordered and was told an hour (pancakes and omelet) so I went an hour later and had to wait an extra fifteen minutes. I've been here three of four times before this experience and the food and the service were both very good (consistent). I don't enjoy breakfast food so I am thankful for restaurants who will serve lunch food at breakfast. That said I usually order the same thing: Cowboy burger. Used be be a big juicy burger cooked to requsted temperature (I like my burgers medium rare) with gobs of cheddar, shoestring onions and bbq sauce. I order the same thing today. My husband ordered a bunch of a la carte items as usual which all came in a timely manner together. In the past (at least 4 times) he had ordered 2 eggs over easy and had received 4. Not sure if they were double yolks which I would find hard to believe 4 times in a row or just generous. Today he received 2. The burger I ordered comes with a cup of soup that came out with the burger at the same time. Hard to decide what to eat first? Not really. The soup was micrwaved so hot I burnt my mouth. So on the my usually favorite thick juicy burger. Not so much. My burger had been replaced by to miniature (literally a mc double is bigger) burgers with a little cheese burnt to heck. There is no way this burger could be cooked any way other than well done do to how thin it is. (So why ask me how I want my burger cooked) The waitress who was very nice and apologetic came back and I explained I get this all the time and this was not what I was expecting. And it was burnt. She took it back and said they were going to re-make it. (Okay......right????) So clearly she brought it back to the chef who got pissed- because the next thing she brought out was a thicker RAW burger. I am not talking undercooked- I am talking RAW. I took my fork to the middleopened it, called the waitress back and needless to say, that one went back too. No breakfast for me. If a chef gets pissed off enough to serve a raw burger I don't want to find out what he'd do if you sent it back again. On a side note- if waiters/servers etc with exposed tattoos (lots of them) piercings bothers you, avoid this place. The table next to us was having similar issues. I now know why the place wasn't packed when we arrived on a Sunday morning at 10 a.m. I visited Emily's with my friend and her 14-year old daughter. We found a close parking spot, walked in and were seated immediately. The menu was pretty standard for a pancake house. My friend and I ordered skillets and her daughter ordered an omelet. Two of us had pancakes with our meal. We could have made better tasting pancakes at home. They were very bland and tasteless. The syrup offered was also NOT maple and tasted more like a sugar-free market brand. Yuk! The skillet meals were just o.k., but not seasoned very well. The waitress was very polite and attentive enough, but the track marks on her arm offended my friend and her daughter, since they recently experienced a tragedy related to drug use. My friend and her daughter also used the bathrooms, and stated they were very disgustingly dirty. Not very likely we will return. read more

We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning, so I was expecting a wait and delay in getting our food, but we we're sat right away and the food came out pretty quickly. The dining room was clean and my wife and I both enjoyed our breakfast. Going to a diner I never expect fine dining quality food so I wasn't even so disappointed that some of the food was frozen prior to being cooked. The reason they don't get five stars is because the staff wasn't very engaging. The hostess did a drop and go with out menus, the waitress kept everything strictly business, and when I went to the register to pay my bill I didn't even get a "how was everything this morning?" DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I was here before and wasn't impressed but given there aren't many bfast restaurants in the area, thought I'd give it another try. My son, daughter and I went today for breakfast. I wanted eggs Benedict but luckily, asked to try the hollandaise before ordering. It was Knorr package mix- yuck. I decided to order the carnita skillet with added jalapeños; the waitress assured me the carnita meat was to die for. My son ordered a veggie skillet with spinach. My daughter ordered biscuits and gravy. We were waiting for about 1/2 hour (they weren't that busy) when the waitress came over to apologize that they somehow lost the order or the ticket fell down?.. But our food would be up any minute. Ok... Mistakes happen. I ordered coffee then and it was not very good. When our food finally came, it was nothing to rave about. The carnita meat was very tasty but there couldn't have been more than two teaspoons of meat in the whole skillet. There was a sprinkling of cheese on top of a pile of potatoes which were covered by a ton of chopped jalapeños. My sons skillet was disappointing as well. His veggie skillet consisted of two tiny pieces of broccoli, a couple leaves of spinach and chopped tomatoes. He ordered avacado on the side and received two slices... For which they charged $2.59. My daughters biscuits and gravy were decent. When paying for our food, I questioned the high cost for two slices of avocado. A lady, obviously the manager, came over and said "there were four slices". When I told her "no, there were only two small slices", she rolled her eyes at me! I told the cashier "that's fine, I'll pay for it". I paid the bill, gave our waitress a nice tip (not her fault) and walked out. I told my kids that they just lost a customer. Not only was the food not good, the manager clearly didn't care and didn't know the first thing about customer service. We will continue to go to Wildberries from now on. I rarely leave reviews and I never leave negative reviews. I work in the food industry and I know how ridiculous people get. However, don't waste your time with this restaurant. I've been there a few times, but this experience was by far the most disappointing. We ordered $8 crepes and received lackluster "crepes" with about two strawberries cut on top. The woman attempted to clarify the difference between crepes and blintzes to me to validate the lack of anything substantial in the food. I love when people are patronizing. I know what a crepe is. That's why I ordered it. I know it's just breakfast and it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of life, but who wants to be ripped off? I've lived in this area for a long time. Go to Mrs. V's if you want to pay the same amount with decent food. Go to Dino's Den if you want cheap, available food. Avoid Emily's. The breakfast selection at this place is huge. Probably two dozen types of pancakes, two dozen types of crepes and blintzes, and of course lots of egg-based dishes. The quality of the food was very good (would rate the food by itself as 4 Stars). The atmosphere here needs work. As others mentioned it's been renovated from a prior Mexican restaurant that was there, but more work needs to be done. The wait staff that I observed were a mixed bag. Our waitress was great but there were a couple younger women there who clearly had the "would rather be somewhere else" thing going on instead of putting themselves into their job. Price was good. Despite the minor flaws I'd go back here simply because there are no other breakfast places in the area that come close to offering this type of variety and at good quality. It's not as good as a Walker Brothers type place (it is as good as Wildberry IMO), but it's definitely a step up from typical Gurnee / Lake Villa / Antioch type food. read more

Well this was not a great experience, with the exception of the waitress (she was wonderful). The hostess said that I couldn't bring in my coffee, however there was no coffee on the table, nor was I offered any. I travel a lot and I've never had that experience. My son and I ordered the biscuits and gravy, YUCK! After waiting 35 minutes to get the food it tasted burnt, so did the second order (waited another 20 minutes). The order they gave us to take home was also nasty. We both ate the left overs from my mother-in-law and my son (crepe's, not bad). Have never had worse service!!! There are NEVER smiling faces working here, each and every employee looks miserable and as if my very presence is somehow interrupting their day... I thought you would be happy I chose to eat at your subpar restaurant! The food is TERRIBLE! Bacon is always soggy and greasy while hash browns are either limp and starchy or burnt to a crispy block. Once a week our orders are for carry out and each week something is wrong or missing, or blatantly mis-cooked, each week we file a new complaint with the staff yet nothing changes and in the months they have been open we have never received anything more than a blank stare and an empty "I'm Sorry". For a restaurant that has already seen a decline in business you would think regular patrons would be an asset. Where is your management and why are they allowing this to go on? It seems there is no happy outcome and though the location is literally next door I will never again order from them. read more

Have frequented Emily's in Lindenhurst twice. The first time I was not impressed. Very poor customer service. It appeared to me that the waiter just didn't like his job. No smile, monotone, and not very friendly. A major part of the experience of eating out is the customer service. Gave them the benefit of the doubt so I went there again (gluton for punishment...I don't know)....same waiter same warm and bubbly personality....NOT! Foo was okay. Prices to me are a bit pricey for breakfast. It is a shame that the service really stinks as I live in Lindenhurst and really want this restaurant to succeed. I hope the mgmt staff read these reviews and take our opinions seriously and make the changes that need to be made. read more
