We first visited the Triangle 30 years ago, good service good food. Open for breakfast and lunch, you will always find a favorite on this menu. This is my first writing on this neighborhood landmark and a good one at that. This is the best place for breakfast anytime between and 3. If you are hungry during these hours, drop what you are doing and go there to order what I tried for the first time. It's called a Popeye omelet! The is a huge helping of food that tops anything in Grayslake...anything! The Popeye omelet is made with eggs, spinach, bacon and is filling enough on its own. This will be a pretty quick review. I came here after a dentist appointment where I was sedated and honestly... I don't remember much. I DO remember that I got a waffle with bananas and whipped cream, with a side of sausage patties. And it was good. I definitely cleaned my plate so no complaints I guess. A nice family diner of a place. The food tastes home made, the waitstaff are attentive and prices are fair. My parents and I have gone to the Triangle Restaurant over the years, several times. It's a favorite when you want a low-keyed diner type of meal. It's usually crowded whenever we have gone. I ordered one of my favorite dishes, the BLT sandwich with fries. It also comes with a tasty soup or salad. My entree came with the Chicken rice soup. My Dad ordered the Chopped Steak and had the cabbage soup, that he loves. The fresh bread and butter is a nice touch. See pics. This place is very casual and comfortable. We've been going for a handful of years. Give it a try. The food was amazing I got the Belgian waffle and I ate about half of my Belgian waffle. The service I got was great I got the nicest server who helped me a lot with my food and giving it to me. Also it was a very busy day when we went and I still got great service. The Ambiance was so cute there was a picture of the place a long time ago and there was such cute plants everywhere but in general I had a great time here. read more

Why have I not reviewed this lovely diner yet? So many really good items to choose from. Cream of Chicken Rice soup is so good. So is many of the breakfast items. Hash browns just the way I like them. The Healthy Start is great when I'm having to watch my simple carb consumption. And no one talks about how good their oatmeal is. Yes oatmeal. Trust me on this. Surprisingly busy for a weekday too, but me and my friends got served pretty quickly. We were visiting the area for the day. We were looking for a family restaurant. We were very pleased with the service and food at Triangle Family Restaurant. I had a typical breakfast of 2 eggs, 4 bacon, toast and a healthy portion of hash browns. All of the items were cooked just like I like them. My husband's scrambled eggs, hash, and Texas toast were very good also. Our server was nice. I recommend this restaurant to families. read more

I know that there are a lot of restaurants to choose from, and the Triangle is a MUST do! The service was phenomenal (Patricia was so fun and helpful - thank you!) and the food was fantastic. The place was hoppin but they never missed a beat or an opportunity to provide amazing customer service. The ambiance was clean and inviting, and it gleamed of pride of the ownership. I got the bacon avocado omelette. It's super delicious. I would definitely buy it again only I'd try a different cheese option. Service was good no complaints. The ambiance is your typical Greek diner. On weekends this place gets really crowded so plan accordingly. Expect a wait if you get here in the later morning/early afternoon. read more

Awful experience by manager when bringing in my 10 lbs service dog. Verbally attacked me, saying too many people bring in their pets. This is really not my problem, my dog is certified, extremely well behaved. This manager was way out of line. Super sad, in a service industry. Definitely, did not eat a meal, stayed because I brought my 90 year old mom in for breakfast because her and my dad used to come here often. Again super sad, I will never be back. read more

We had dinner with our son's family and everything was excellent! Food was delicious, service was great, all 6 of us were served quickly and the staff was very friendly. Usually a new place has some drawbacks at the start, but we were so pleased with our visit. The decor is very nice as well. Our son's family lives in Berlin and they will be back. Plenty of delicious food! This is our go to place for breakfast or lunch. Consistently good food and quick service. We go here at least twice a month. I'd recommend it to any one looking for a sandwich made with fresh (not deli) roasted meat . I normally get their Monte Cristo but today I had the French dip. First impression, unfortunately set the tone. We arrived with an elderly friend . We VERY briefly weighted the merits of a table vs booth, as we walked into the place. When we decided on a booth, after no more than 30 seconds, the hostess rolled her eyes and sighed. The food was mediocre. Pancakes were just warm, not much flavor. Crisp bacon was not the least bit crisp. Scambled eggs were runny. The sun was shining off a car in the parking lot, blinding us. Not their fault, BUT- Instead of someone helping us, my friend had to climb on a table to reach the blinds. Our waitress disappeared when we were finishing our meal. We needed a box, but had to hunt someone down. All in All, mediocre and sad. The place was almost empty. I hope things get better. read more

We go here probably once a month and picked up during Covid to help keep our local businesses a float. This IS a family restaurant. We have always had excellent prompt service. There were a few times over the years that order mistakes were made. It was the kitchens fault not the waitress. I heard her tell them correctly. As for a few comments of staff suggesting people leave when done (after coffee for 1/2 hour???) when there is a long line of people waiting to get in, I honestly think that is reasonable. Hostess and owner are very rude. Was told we would not be charged for splitting a breakfast if we just got an extra plate. No problem. Next time we split after finishing breakfast we were told we would have to pay the extra $3. Told the hostess we were told we did not have to pay if we split ourselves. Hostess said it is on the menu. It was on the menu in fine print. Asked the owner if he would let it go this time because we were misinformed. He said "I am the owner and I will charge you whatever I want and if you do not like it you are not welcome in my restaurant. Never went back. read more

First and last time going here. Working in a restaurant, I am always patient and reasonable with new places. We got the country fried steak- jelly like Gravy with little flavor, hashbrowns seemed to have been frozen and mush. Also had gotten the Cowboy wrap- completely bland, tasted like they boiled the steak, even with plenty of salt, pepper and cholula I only ate 2 bites, fruit cup was gross and old. When we were asked how everything was, we mentioned we didn't like any of it and did not need boxes, server apologized kindly and gave us our check. The manager at the front asked how everything was and we said it was actually pretty bad and barely ate any of our food. He continued to charge us full price. It's alright though, we just won't ever go back. Overall experience I'd say 1/10 read more

I have been going here since I was with little kid. Every time I walk to the door I am filled with the feeling of nostalgia and the flood of memories that include all of my grandparents but that's not. The only reason I love this place the food has always been consistently delicious and always economical. I love places like this. Really makes me feel like I am in somebody's own suburb with a restaurant by the side of a busy highway. But this is more than that. Tons of good vibes here. I ate like a king here for around $23.00 which includes a tip. OK? Service was very friendly, I would def return if I am this way again. One thing I did find odd however, they wrap pieces of bread individually for the bread basket, I have never seen this practice and it seems wasteful. But I am rounding up for how clean the bathrooms are. When you are a traveling sales person, these places make you feel really nice. Ok food, horrific customer service. Several years ago my wife and I were eating breakfast here Sunday morning before church. After finishing our food, we were still enjoying our coffee. The waitress kept repeatedly asking if there was anything else we needed, she asked to the point it became very annoying. And we told her again, and again, no thank you, we are just finishing our coffee. This happened all within roughly 30 minutes or less. Finally she came back and said she was asking us to leave, since there was a huge line of people waiting for a table. I was horrified, totally beside myself, and didn't know what to do. Not being one to explode and yell at someone, I simply told my wife let's go and never come back here again. Looking back I wish I had spoke up and told the lady no, we are paying customers, or at least had gotten her name to complain to the manager immediately. To this day we have still never gone back, and we share this bad experience with everyone we talk about restaurants with. read more

They're always friendly and they know what they're doing. They've thoroughly impressed me this past year with COVID precautions too. whether you "believe" in the virus or not, there's something to be said about a place that will take the time, money, and effort to put up barriers between seating, properly space out tables at a cost to their own turnover rate, they genuinely care about the people visiting. read more
