I came here on a Wednesday night at 8:30 pm and it was fairly empty. I had a late class and I was feeling the need for drink and appetizer. I am not a fan of beer, but they have an interesting selection here. They even brew their own beer. I was surprised that they had a drink list for those of us who do not drink beer. The martini list was pretty impressive. I decided to try two of them. They were both delicious and fairly strong. For food, we decided to go with the wing special they were offering that night. I believe it was 50 cent wings. They have four different sauces you can have with the wings. My favorite was the Jamaican Jerk. I also had the cheddar beer soup with pretzel roll which was savory and filling. Service was prompt and friendly! read more

Emmett's Ale House is a huge place! I'm not a big sports bar fan so I was pleased to see their dining room side was so roomy and on the opposite side of the building from the bar and the big screen tv's. The decor is quite nice for a pub, more like an old English fox hunting club with lots of dark wood. But there are plenty of tall windows letting in light so it's not so dark inside. Now for the food...after reading the description of their sweet potato fries I had to get them as an appetizer. Now I know you are thinking "sweet potato fries, big deal" but they were like eating candy! Fried perfectly they were served with two dipping sauces, a barbecue and a divine maple sugar butter. So delicious we scarfed them up! I ordered the beef brisket which was just okay; too much gristle in my serving but the mashed potatoes were good and plentiful along with the roasted vegetables. My friend had a burger and she said it was quite tasty. You get your choice of some different sides with the sandwiches/burgers as well. The service was adequate but nothing over the top. Our server was knowledgable and answered our questions. I'd go back and try something else as their menu was pretty big. Oh, and if you are a beer drinker they have a large selection. read more

I really like Emmet's in Palatine. My coworker and I hit up this place after work on a Thursday to do a little celebrating for the birthday of yours truly. We were able to get seated right away and our server was funny. He served us the wrong drinks and then he was telling us how he hadn't made any mistakes till we showed up. It was entertaining. We both ordered drinks and also ordered an appetizer. The drinks were really good. I ordered the mac'n'cheese for my entree and it was indulgent. I probably wouldn't order it again. It was good but I should have gone with a burger because those looked amazing. I'm not a huge fan of the brews at Emmet's but the Red ale one is pretty good. They have a few other cocktails and I tried one of those. The atmosphere in the bar area is fun. Noisy but we could still hold down a conversation without yelling. read more

We have heard about Emmett's Brewing Company from a few friends and decided to give it a shot. The food (GF Reuben sandwich and Cornbeef and Cabbage) were excellent. For the GF Reuben, I would suggest trying a different GF Bread. The bread that was served to me pretty much fell apart and was poor tasting. The real issue was the service, or lack of service. There was a bartender who was attending to all the tables. Made absolutely no sense. He forgot about us and left us with a bad impression of Emmett's. Won't be back. read more

We had a private party & it was a disaster. No customer service & I had to serve coffee to my guest. No menus, no bartender & manager was rude. I can't believed what I paid for the worst lunch birthday party ever. They even dropped the birthday cake on top of the gifts table. Not sure how they stay in business! This place is a gem of a neighborhood pub. The food is so good and they take such pride in their beer, and you can't beat their patio with a beautiful fire pit and their friendly staff. I wouldn't trust a negative view of this place, they probably only drink Natty Lite. read more

We decided to try this local eatery on a lazy monday afternoon. Long story short, we were blown away by how marvelous this place is. Great mood, service, and food. The atmosphere reflects an elegant American Pub with dark wood being the prevalent mood setter. Jordan, our waitress, was exceptional as well. She walked us through her favorites in each category of the menu, and also offered us free samples of their local brews. We tried the roasted mozzarella flatbread as an appetizer, and it was one of the best appetizers we've ever had. I got the pulled pork Sandwich with chili- which was great as well. The wait for our food took a little longer than most places, but we were in no rush, so it didn't make a difference for us. After the meal, I sampled a few of their drinks, and they were exceptionally smooth with great flavor. All around a winner and we will definitely be coming to this place regularly in the future! read more

I have been trying to support local businesses more, when a craving for fish and chips hit me. It was Friday night, and I hadn't eaten, so I headed over to Emmett's as they have an all you can eat fish and chips every Friday. The place had a lot more kids than I was expecting for a brewpub. That was kind of a bummer, but not in their control. My server was good, but at times seemed a bit confused. I ordered the fish and chips and another person ordered the prime rib. The fish and chips were quite good and filling, but the prime rib was absolutely disgusting. It was medium rare, and tasted like a overcooked sirloin. When my friend complained, the waiter was really uncertain as to what to do. My friend wanted to just get the fish and chips instead. 20 minutes later a manager came by and fixed it, but it was strange that the waiter didn't know how to handle it. I also had some french onion soup there that was quite good. I would come back, and just not order the prime rib. Overall it is good but the service can also improve a bit. read more

Stopped in yesterday afternoon with my husband, and now we regret not having stopped in before!! We each had a flight, and we were both delighted at the tasty brews offered here! Generally, we're used to the fact that there are going to be brews in the flights that one of us isn't going to like all that much (the point of the flight is to TRY them, right?) but not here!! The staff was all wonderfully attentive and made us feel very welcomed on this quiet Monday afternoon! I cannot really review the food, as I just had a twisty pretzel stick as a snack.. The sauces had nice flavor, but I'm not really a sauce person so I didn't really use them beyond a a lil sampling- so I guess I'd say tasty, but not my thing, really so I'm not sure my opinion on that is even worthwhile lol. Emmett's is one of favorite downtown Palatine spots. I love the bar area, where you can sit at high tops or over-sized booths. The outdoor space is even better though, spacious and there are space heaters for nice fall nights. It's never too loud in here so it's really a nice place to get together with friends and catch up. Their weekly specials menu is where I usually start because they have some great wings and potato skins! My husband loves the craft beers they have on tap and I love the martini menu. We don't usually order too heavy here but I have had the Salmon and it is delicious. read more

Went here tonight with my husband and so disappointed! First of all it wasn't busy so we figured no problem getting a table. Got a table and sat for over 10 minutes with no acknowledgement from a single staff person!! 3 servers walked by, nothing...we decided to leave and there at the front counter were three people talking. Told us to have a good night didn't seem to notice that we talked to to of them 15 minutes before that when we came in! The first time I came here, I just had a cocktail and didn't like it at all. But as I looked over the menu I thought looks pretty good for food. So I gave it a try! Went a second time. My friend ordered the bacon Bleu burger with fries. I ordered the (app) seafood trilogy which was a perfect portion. I also ordered the wedge salad without the steak. This salad was a good portion too and very good. The seafood trilogy was ok, it's tuna, grilled salmon and sea scallop. The sea scallop was my favorite and normally wouldn't be. We also split one pretzel with mustard (app) and the baked potatos (app) those were both okay, have had better. I'd say try this place but you're not missing out either. We have been here twice for buisness meetings and I have been pleasantly surpised both times. Starting with the service, they are extememly attentive and quick to take orders. I LOVED the 1am beer on tap, it was refreshing with a complex flavor. So far I have tried the veg burger and truffle oil fries, both of which were awesome. The burger was a double stack of black bean burger which was filling and very tastey. The fries felt heavy, but the truffle oil is really good I have also tried a salad, which was also a large portion and taste very good. I'm not sure what the bad service reviews are about, becuase both times I have been there we had nothing but the best service with an attentive waitress and meals delivered in a timely fasion. Will definately be back next time in town. I do wish they would sell 6packs of the 1am ale!!! They do sell other beers that they brew in 6 packs, just in case you were curious. read more

A manager had contacted me about my bad review, and offered to try to change my mind, inviting me back to give them a second chance, saying they'd send me something. When I opened the mail, I actually laughed out loud at the $25 gift card. If you are familiar with the menu, you know that this cannot even get you a burger and a beer, let alone an entree and a cocktail. I am so unimpressed at their attempt at customer service, that I am almost insulted, and now understand this goes all the way to the management level. I will be giving the gift card away or throwing it in the trash. I will not be back to Emmett's. read more

Emmett's Brewing Company in Palatine has so much going for it. The location is perfectly situated in downtown Palatine. The restaurant is gorgeous with all-new construction. I then wonder, why does this location have such poor reviews on every food review site? I decided to stop by with my friends and check this place out for myself. I made a reservation to go to Emmett's Brewing Company for a party of six at 7:00 pm. The restaurant had a steady flow of customers that were funneling in the front door and many chose to dine outside. I walked in with my party and the host swiftly sat us at a large round table in the back corner of the restaurant. The host quickly walked away as I assumed he was very busy. I then was greeted by our server who seemed friendly enough. He introduced himself and asked what we wanted to drink. Things were going well for the time being. Then the long wait began. Our server disappeared and he did not return for close to 20 minutes. When the server did return, he looked out of it and strangely calm. I asked to put in our orders of appetizers and main courses, not knowing how long he was going to disappear next time. I was looking around at the restaurant and noticed everyone was moving in slow motion. No one really had any quickness about them. I remember having a similar experience when I dined in the south in Alabama or Florida, very slow and lethargic. The appetizers arrived and the food runner quickly disappeared. We noticed we had no plates or silverware. I waited a few minutes to see if our server would return to check on us, now that our food arrived, but he did not return. I then got up and told the host we needed silverware and plates. The host did not apologize; in fact, he did not say a word. I walked back to the table and a food runner gave us plates and silverware. The appetizers that we had were the potato skins and spinach dip and both were not bad. The main courses arrived. I had a hamburger. The hamburger was nothing special. It was dry and kind of bland. I want to make a point that our server never returned through all of this. I will also say that the other people in my party were not very happy with their experience either. Our server finally came to ask if we needed anything else after a while. We just asked for the check. The whole experience was horrible. The service was very bad. I now see why this restaurant gets the rating it does. It definitely is fully deserved. read more

Been to Emmett's a few times with family and friends. Every time that I've come to Emmett's we've had a great time. We've tried several different items on the menu. All of them have turned out to be quite delicious. No one I have gone with has had a bad meal. My favorite's are the Brewhouse Angus burger and French Onion soup. The burger always comes out juicy, well seasoned and yummy. The soup comes in a crock and is one of the better French onion soup I have had at a restaurant. I also enjoy getting the margarita flatbread for an appetizer. It's great for sharing and it is very light and fresh way to start the meal. I've tried two different beers that they produce here. I've enjoyed both of them. We've had seating inside and also on the patio and every time we've had good service. I will be back again next time I am in town. read more

Very small menu which led me to believe that they would be great at what they offered. I was very wrong. My family ordered the cod which they said was good but for the price, it wasn't very endless. They only brought out individual pieces when you asked for more. The coleslaw tasted spoiled. My burger was very bland and very overpriced for how lacking the meal was. 5 Star rating based on my expectations for a brew pub/gastro pub. Great selection of beer on tap with new ones coming on tap all the time. Friendly staff whether at the front or behind the bar. But what really makes this place get stars is the food. Now admittedly I'm a sucker for a good burger and having travelled around the world, Emmett's is up there with the best - Personally the Sunrise Burger is my favorite but others are worth trying as well - Order another beer though if you get the fire starter as you'll need it to cool down. Other food items are just as good based on feedback from my wife and friends. In the summer time there is a great outdoor patio that is perfect at the end of a nice warm day. Only suggestions are pump up the hops on the beers (west coast style!) and allow dogs on the patio (although I believe that is a city of Palatine thing that strongly needs to be overturned). Been here a number of times after moving to the area and after checking out numerous places in the DT Palatine area this is the class of the area. read more

Before I start my review of Emmetts, I would like to make a general comment to all restaurants; Keep you take-out food WARM!!!!!!!! I am sick and tired of picking up COLD FOOD!!!! I ordered food from Emmetts on Friday evening. I said that I would pick up the food at 6:15. When I arrived at Emmetts, my food was sitting on the bar and it was cold. It had been sitting there for a while because the containers were not warm. There is nothing worse than cold French Fries. WHY WASN'T IT IN THE KITCHEN BEING KEPT WARM??????????????? IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? I am sooooooooooooo sick of this crap. Restaurants are suffering from COVID. Only those that are at the top of their game will survive. Hoped to enjoy an outdoor lunch with my daughter today, but apparently that was not in the cards--at least not at Emmet's. Upon arrival, we found the patio vacant, and the restaurant less than half full. Despite the lack of business, the hostess greeted us with an unfriendly "It will be a few minutes." No further explanation for the delay was given. The hostess simply stood in place behind the reception desk staring at us and a second party whom I assume were also asked to wait. After ten terribly awkward minutes I finally asked why we were waiting. "For our waitstaff to catch up" was the hostess's response. Upon hearing this, the other waiting party turned to leave. When I heard the hostess mumble "whatever," we followed the first party out the door. We found some quiet al fresco dining with more a more pleasant staff just down the street. read more

I use to work here and all I can say is the beer is good the food is good and they keep everything clean but stay far away when that patio opens and it's busy. The patio doubles the size of the restaurant and the kitchen can't keep up. I've seen tables waiting as long as two hours for food during the peak of summer. Can be a bit messy for everyone. Beer kegs are affordable and I recommend just picking one up for your party than the hassle/mess of bottles and cans. Not a bad place. read more

When you walk into Emmett's, the first thing you'll see is their brewing tanks. The restaurant is to the left and the bar is to the right. I've always just gone to the bar for some good beer and food, as there's plenty of comfy booth/high table seating and the full menu is available. All of their brews are great, but my recent favorite is their Hefeweizen. It's very smooth and has a hint of banana. Smells good and tastes great. They also have daily specials and Thursdays are great, since they have half price pitchers at about $7. Plus you can grab a six-pack of their brews if you're a fan. The food is good and they have some solid burgers. The beef patties have a nice charred crust and are super juicy. Actually I think I always just get a burger and beer. The service can be hit or miss, as some of the servers are excellent and others not so much. But that much I can deal with since they have some great beer! read more

Our sons invited us here for brunch on Mother's Day. We sat inside, though a lovely outdoor seating area was available. The dining areas are comfortable enough and service was good even on this most difficult day for servers. The food offerings were plentiful, including carving stations for beef and ham and made to order omelets. And everything was very pleasing to the eye. There was no way to sample everything, but I did try a variety of the dishes. While nothing was bad, nothing was spectacular either. The French Toast was a bit tough, the bacon short of crisp, the bagels seemed day-old, the shrimp over-boiled the pork loin overcooked. The chocolate cake was passable as we were the gash browns. I did have small eclair that was quite good. While I didn't eat it personally, my wife said the rigatoni in vodka sauce was outstanding. Having worked in restaurants in a past life, I know that Mother's Day has unique challenges. I'll try Emmet's again sometime to sample the regular menu. read more

I've been coming to Emmett's since it first opened...then closed and became the Brockway Chop House...and then Emmett's again. The service is HORRIBLE...but I've always chalked it up to the fact that I'm sitting in the bar, or outside and it's busy. But, my last experience is the icing on the cake and will also be my last experience there period. On Friday, August 23rd, a friend and I were hanging out at the Palatine Street Fest and decided that we were hungry and wanted some Emmett's Nachos...which by the way are really quite good. We got there at 11:40 and I asked the hostess when the kitchen closed. She said midnight and assured us it was fine for us to get a table outside. My friend used the restroom and asked me to order her the lightest beer on the menu with a lemon and the plate of nachos. By the time she got back from the restroom, I was still sitting there with the menus and nothing else. The waitress approaches our table....an angry looking blonde/strawberry blonde, and proceeds to tell us that the kitchen is closing soon, along with the rest of the restaurant....ummm....yeah, if you would have taken my order ten minutes ago, there wouldn't have been an issue. We placed our order and never saw the waitress again. The food was served by a young man. She came back to give us our check, and when we put in our cash....she NEVER BOTHERED TO COME BACK WITH THE CHANGE.....nice. I love how someone so obnoxious could have the audacity to assume the entire amount of the leftover cash is for her. We were planning on leaving her a minimal tip...but no such luck...blondie never bothered to come back. Well, you know what Emmett's? I wont' be bothering to come back either.....especially since I filled out a form on your website complaining about the poor service...and have yet to receive a reply. I had a friend over who doesn't live around here and when we went to dinner in downtown Arlington Heights, she asked me why weren't we going to downtown Palatine since that's near where I live, my response, "Oh, there aren't any decent restaurants there." My original plan was to take her to Emmett's, but not after that experience. read more

I don't think I'll be running back to Emmett's anytime soon. The only thing that it has going for it is the atmosphere/ambience. Everything else was pretty dismal. We arrived about 7ish on Saturday with a group of 7. The hostess looked at us like she was confused and said "ummm, it'll be mayyyybe twenty to thirty minutes?" We said okay. She asked if we'd rather sit in the dining room or pub. I said whichever came available first. She said okay. We went to wait in the bar. About 20 minutes later, she came over. She asked "do you want to try to squeeze into a booth made for six?" We asked how much longer we'd have to wait for a table that would seat us comfortably. "ummm... probably about another 30-40 minutes." What?! 1st note to Emmett's: Teach your hostesses either how to time things out or seat your servers better. Also, to apologize when she mis-quotes times the first time. She didn't give a crap that we were a little miffed that a 30 minute wait would've turned into an hour plus. So, we squeezed into the booth, which actually wasn't so bad. Our server (forgot his name, or he never told us...) took our drink and appetizer orders (no writing - not sure if it's his own deal or restaurant policy). Drinks came - he took our dinner order (again - no writing.) We had 6 burgers and one salad. The appetizers came out right away (and were pretty tasty - the pretzels with honey mustard I would eat again,) but the entrees took probably another hour. Did they have to kill the cow? When the entrees did come, there were several errors (2nd note: Let your servers write things down, or encourage them to do so! It doesn't prove to your patrons that you are cool if your staff doesn't write down orders - it just pisses them off when the order comes wrong.) I ordered the burger that touted bacon jam and a sunny-side egg. It sounded amazing. It was nothing special. The burger patty was thin, pre-formed, and possibly had come frozen. If I'm going to pay $12 for a burger, don't you think the patty should be a fresh, hand-formed, thick, juicy, delicious thing? The sweet potato fries and the truffle fries I tasted were good, I have to give them that. Kicker: Yes, I know they brew their own beer, but one of the guys at our table prefers Budweiser. He had a few while we were waiting and eating and waiting. At one point, the server brings him one. It's the FOURTH OF JULY BOTTLE. It's months past its expiration date. When the server comes back, he doesn't apologize, but brings another one, that's *less expired, but still expired.* Again, no apology, just an offer to "check the basement." I don't care if you brew your own stuff, if you are offering bottles - they should be within their expiration timeframe. Sorry Emmett's - you just didn't cut the mustard. read more

The service is a joke! It's almost as if the guests owe them something. It took 10 mins for the server to greet our table and when we ordered our drinks it took another 15 mins to get them. The pub was not busy, maybe 10 people there. Anyway, we let the manager Candi know and she had such a bad attituide as if it was our fault and we were keeping her from her phone that she had been on at the bar. The beer is great. The food has no flavor. Not happy and will never go back. The management needs to go back to serving or get a lesson how to run a resturant and treat people! read more

Third time isn't the charm for this place. The food is pricey, the flavors are mediocre at best and the portions are a borderline joke. While I'm not a craft beer person, I have dined here each time with folks who are. Not one of them cared for the house made beer. Terrible service....waited 20 minutes to get our drink order, and they never brought us any water. They sat us outside on the side of the patio with no heaters on a cool night. The food was sub-par....how do you serve a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich where the cheese isn't melted? The house-brewed beer seemed ok, but I should have gone with a flight to try the beers because the one I ordered wasn't all that great.
