My family eats here 1-2 times per month & has for many years. We like it better than any other Chinese restaurant in the Olympia area. Yes, you can probably get better Chinese food in Seattle or Portland if you are a purist. The decor is meh, but the food is usually great. I've been here once and have tried going a few other times. Yelp says its open till 10 but it closes at 9. When we walked in at 9:45 the lady just looked at us till we asked if we can be seated and then said we could order to go. Someone needs to fix the time. I have to agree with Khristian's review. I ordered delivery, they were very nice, very easy to understand. I got my hopes up about the food being great. I live a few miles away from the place but it still took over an hour for delivery. The food was only ok-ish. My 2 boys, which will at least try things, didn't care for it. I wouldn't say the food I received was horrible but it was definately not very good and took a very long time to arrive. On the up side, I ordered some fresh spring rolls and they were pretty good. The dipping sauce that comes with them is wonderful! Still, I probably won't return there. read more

I have lived in Lacey for a little over a year now and I can tell you there isn't that many Chinese places in Lacey. I saw the reviews and thought my wife and I should try it ourselves. Bad mistake. I happen to have been to quite a few Chinese places throughout the United States and I can tell you this is one of the worst places I been too. I ordered the general Tsos chicken and the sauce was very bland. My wife ordered the almond chicken and sweet and sour chicken with lo mein and fried rice. The almond chicken and sweet and sour chicken were bland and the outside breading just literally came off the chicken. It was very oily. The lo mein was too gravy and my wife and I have never had anything like it. The rice was too dry. I am open minded to new places but this place was horrible. I ordered to go and went over my order more than once just to make sure they got my wife's substitution for one of her meat entrees and they still ended up getting it wrong. If you want Chinese food in Lacey, the best place to go is Tea Leaf II right next to Starbucks. read more

We order here a lot in our office. They do a good job if we have any errors to always try and make it right. They are a long time Olympia area restaurant. Some of the things you cant even find in other Chinese restaurants. Very good food to me. Their prices are a bit higher than they use to be. There's a lot of good Korean barbecues, though. The Palace's food is hot. They have a nice fish tank in the lobby and a waterfall when you enter. It's a guilty pleasure joint for me. I love Chinese food! It's my favorite type of food. I have never thrown it away, if I have leftovers I put it in the fridge for later. That being said, Emperor's palace is as far from good Chinese as you can get, fast food Chinese and Safeway deli Chinese is better! The batter on my chicken was doughy! I believe the chicken was undercooked. The fried rice, chow neon, and I believe it was orange chicken were pretty much inedible as well. I ended up throwing it all away. Don't waste your money. Tonight I ordered $100 in food from Emperors in Lacey and had it delivered and we were very disappointed! The food was soggy, greasy and very disappointing. They have a wide array of healthy, vegetable laden food that I normally eat. The bogoki (not sure if I am spelling it right) beef is to die for! I would try them out to give them a chance yourself. The fact of the matter is you go to different places for what you love of that particular place and when we are in the mood for Emperor's Palace, it is awesome! My husband and I have been eating at both the Lacey Emperor's Palace and the West Olympia's Emperor's Palace since 1984. The food is consistently the same at both places and delicious. We love both locations and their family menu choices. We love the variety in the family meals and that you can make substitutions if there is something you would prefer. We always order two of the family style meals and there is more than enough to feed 6 people and have leftovers. The wonton soup is the bomb. Always plenty of wontons in the broth. Unlike other places that count 2-3 for a small order 5-6 for a large order. We take the mushrooms out though, since we don't like mushrooms. The kids LOVE the rice and eggrolls. We also love their delivery. =) My kids love the options too that they have some burgers and american food on the menu as well, because we know that children of varying ages like to eat different things. Portion sizes are awesome. Even my 86 year old father asks for EP (What we call it. LOL) food at least once a month. This food can't be beat. When the children are not in tow, love to go to the lounge with my friends and sing karaoke. Friendly efficient staff. Fun atmosphere. read more

We ordered an appetizer plate to start. The chicken wings, shrimp, and egg roll were OK, but the BBQ pork was so dry it was inedible. The two dishes my husband and I shared were Mongolian Beef and Cantonese Chow Mein. Both sauces on each dish tasted like they were made from a gravy mix. The chicken in the chow mein and the beef had that awful aftertaste of old freezer burn meat. The only ones who enjoyed the meal were our dogs who ate the leftovers. Just had probably the worst Chinese food ever this evening after ordering delivery from this restaurant. Granted, I come from a city with the second largest Chinese population in North America and am slightly bias but I was starving and would have chowed down on mere mediocre food which is what I have come to expect from this vendor. The entire meal was inedible; slimy bean sprouts with crispy noodles is not my idea of a good chow mein. Shrimp smelled so fishy I was scared to try it. The almond chicken tasted like it had been under a heat lamp all day and the pork fried rice was a disaster. Best thing about the whole meal is the fortune cookies. I never leave reviews on sites like these, but this place is so bad, I decided to sign up Just so I could. The karaoke in this place has gone to hell. When we first pulled up, we knew things had seriously changed since the last time we'd been there. The entire entrance was surrounded in seedy looking bikers. Once inside, it became obvious that this place has turned into nothing more than a biker bar. You could tell that most of the patrons were either career drunks or heavy drug users. The host has no idea how to tune his old/low quality system. His idea is to just turn it up. We came in a party of eight. One of our group got skipped several times in the rotation. The host, rather than apologizing, got in her face and berated her. Then, to make things worse, he then made public comments over the mic about how things worked there, making up a false scenario to make it appear that it was her fault. This was one of the worst experiences I've personally had going out. I promise you, the eight of us will not be coming back. But, if you are an unbathed biker that needs a place to enjoy your high, this may just be the place for you. read more

This is a Chinese restaurant for people who have no concept for what Chinese food should taste like.

We had food delivered to the Ramada Inn on the evening of August 31, and what a dreadful experience it was. The young man on the phone was abrupt and unhelpful. The spring rolls were limp and soggy, and the fresh spring roll was forgettable. The beef (Mongolian Beef) had been in the freezer for who knows how long and was thawed and sliced thick, and had evidently been cooked in Oxo or something weird like that. It was grey and slimy. Neither of us could eat more than a few mouthfuls of it. The Kon Pao (Kung Pao?) chicken was heavy on the cheap veggies and very light on the chicken. $35.00 for the two of us. Disgusting. The next day we had Panda Express at Northgate Mall and it was fabulous. May I suggest that the owners of the Emperor's Palace go somewhere and eat good Chinese food, and then figure out how it's done. So, it's not necessarily a good thing when you're looking at other places on Yelp! to see what would have been a better pick while eating your dinner. Every time I've driven by this place, it has a lot of cars in the parking lot (besides the delivery cars) so I thought it would be a safe bet. I should have checked here first. This is not Chinese food, it's got some basic resemblance to Chinese food. I get the reviews of looking for a good cheap pseudo-Chinese restaurant, but not even the soup of the day was Chinese. That was the 1st sign that this wasn't a good choice. The dinner combinations were odd. I order a dinner with 2 main dishes, Mongolian Beef with medium spice and Sweet and Sour Pork with the thought of taking some to work for lunch. It came with fried rice and an egg roll. The beef had literally no spice and the fried rice had no flavor at all and was crunchy. That's not supposed to happen, is it? I will say that the sweet and sour chicken was decent, but it was just fried chicken strips with sauce on it. And...to make it really bad, it came to over $18 for 1 person. Hate to say it, but the left overs went in the trash when I got home. This was a definite no-go-back for me. read more
