Before you begin your game, use the Timer Feature on your cell phones to keep up with how much time you spent playing, to ensure that you are not being overcharged,. For a while, I suspected that I was being overcharged and decided to use my cell phone Timer Feature - this action did not change the final bill's outcome. My last visit to Empire confirmed my suspicions - I was being overcharged. I have always been kind and respectful to the staff, but feel some of them have been disingenuous when clearing my bill for the evening. You wouldn't find this place unless you were actively searching for a place to shoot pool. And you come here to shoot pool. Nothing else. That's dedication. That being said, it's a solid, quiet place to shoot away from the loud, obnoxious bar environment. Service is friendly, but note that there are no alcoholic drinks. That's when you know the players here mean business. Tables are well-maintained. It was $13.50/hour for weekdays and $15/hour for weekends. Really nice, clean, quiet, well-maintained pool hall with friendly staff, good tables, and good lighting. Prices are reasonable for what you're getting. I'm not aware of anywhere else in the Seattle area where you can go and just focus on playing pool. It's also the only place I'm aware of in the area that has any snooker tables at all. If you go here looking for a loud, energetic nightclub environment with food, alcoholic drinks, and dancing, you've completely missed the point. As someone who hasn't played much pool and is looking to just practice quietly by myself or with one other person, this place is perfect. No music, nobody interrupting you, just pool. I like to come in on weekday afternoons and I'm usually the only one in there. Sometimes the guy at the counter will even only charge me for an hour after being there for two hours if it isn't busy. They don't serve food, but they do have a few different beers and soda in the fridge, really just the basics. What a neat little place! Empire is easy to miss because it's tucked away in a corner of a little shopping/restaurant complex, and doesn't have a large sign to boot. If you manage to find your way in, you won't regret it. Spending an evening here is like playing pool in someone's large, large living room--with bubble tea to boot. There is no alcohol served, so people of all ages are welcome, and the best part is that this is as far as you can get from playing pool in a seedy bar. It's a great way to kick back with a game or two without accidentally spilling beer on the cue ball and struggling to recover from that disastrous moment. It is very hard to find a billard place which is kid friendly and family established like this around Seattle! Normally u can only find pool tables in dive bars surrounded by drunk people who could spill beer on ur table and have u pay for it.
