This review is only for takeout because I have not yet been inside of the restaurant. We had a heavy craving for Chinese food and this restaurant in the area was also offering free delivery within the designated kilometres (I can't remember lol). We had ordered the fried rice, house, special, chow mein with crispy noodles and the sizzling beef hot pot. We found the portions and prices relative to what is on the market, and the food came in a quick manner. The delivery lady was very nice and I would order from here again.

Ordered takeout. Food had good proportions. But we found a piece of metal that came from a scrubber in the noodles???

Empire Garden was a short walk from our hotel and looked like a good choice for our group of 14 (not a typo!). On the plus side, WOW it's a lot of food for the money. We ordered two dinners for 6 and got enough food for at least 16 people in my opinion. I will never complain about getting 'too good a deal' - except this time we didn't have the ability to take extras home, so it was sad to leave food on the table. See the photo for all the contents of the 12 dishes. If you're not a seafood/crustacean fan beware: they will sneak some of those little fellas in there! For example, the Egg Fu-Yung and the House Special Fried Rice. Unless you're allergic you can pick them out I guess! A lot of the dishes seemed 'authentic' - in that they were sort of strange cuts of meat mostly bone-in. Plus many of the dishes were heavily deep fried. I guess this is good because if you add enough salt to any deep fried thing, I will eat it. The downside is that it makes the dishes rather heavy and you certainly won't feel like you ate something healthy when you walk out. I'd come back to try the Dim Sum here though!

It was the worst taste restaurant I've ever been to. We ordered Chow Mein but it was so dry and broccoli with beef was so tough. The spring roll was too much oil. Springroll color was dark brown so seems like the oil was old when they fried it. This meal was like leftover food.

I actually did a review about a year ago on this restaurant. At that time I did a glowing review. Today a year later, I must say, they still have not disappointed my husband and I. As I said previously, we are creatures of habits. About a month ago, we did a takeout order. We find their food very tasty and all ingredients are fresh. We would drive from our home in Burnaby to Langley so we can enjoy their food. Unfortunately when we got home when only then did we find out they made a mistake on our prawn spring roll order and instead we got har gow. I called the restaurant spoke to Glendy and he apologized and said that next time we are back they will give me a free prawn spring roll to fix their mistake. Their prawn spring roll is very tasty and just full of those yummy prawns, no fillers used. Last night, we drove to Langley to do our usual take out, Glendy was there and he remembered our phone call and true to his word he did follow through and we got our free prawn spring roll. Kudos to Glendy and Ivy, they were very nice to talk to. So if ever you are in Langley and craving some Chinese food then we highly recommend Empire Garden Chinese Restaurant, food is tasty, prices and serving is great, staff are friendly and hardworking. Just give them a try and you won't be disappointed.

Very generous in size and delicious!

I now understand why this restaurant is known as having the best dim sum in the area. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. However, when I went to pick up my order, the place was packed with people. It's clear that their dim sum reputation is well known and well deserved. I wasn't expecting much, but even as I picked up my order, I was wondering why the containers were so big. I had only ordered three dim sum dishes: #2 - Empire Crystal Prawn Dumplings; #49 - Empire Garden Baked BBQ Pork Buns; and #52 - Deep Fried Meat Dumplings. When I opened the containers, I was shocked by how big the dim sum were. I'm used to getting tiny dumplings and portion sizes for dim sum, but each of the three items was so generously sized. They were all delicious and left me thoroughly impressed. The prices are pretty fair as well. This will now definitely be my go to place if ever I'm craving some good dim sum!

I think this is the closest authentic but not really authentic Chinese food in Langley. The menu photos and food options are definitely geared towards the Canadian Chinese food crowd but at the same time can please those craving flavours found in Vancouver or Richmond. Prices are a bit higher for smaller portions. However, I think because there are only so many Chinese food options in this city. Service was very good. Food arrived fairly quickly. Food was good for what it was. We received cookies for dessert which is an upgrade from fortune cookies.

Could not eat their food. Everything was incredibly greasy and tasted/smelled like seafood. Worst Chinese food we've ever had! $30 wasted.

The interior was nice and modern. Comfy chairs, sleek tables and I got to choose a bigger table with a lazy Susan in the middle. A couple of staff members were quick to help us with teas or anything else we needed. We chose the Yang Chow Fried Rice which came in a very unique pyramid configuration. We also ordered eggplant, har gow, sui mai and BBQ pork buns. All were pretty standard, with my only disappointment being the BBQ pork buns. I'm not sure what happened with the steamer or the steaming process, but 2/3 buns in the bamboo container came out looking good and fluffy, but the third came out looking and feeling quite soggy. Good solid choice for Dim Sum if you are in South Surrey. I'd be interested in trying their dinner dishes in the near future.

Which means not the friendliest or best, but that is usually the sign of a great restaurant. We had to ask for the dim sum menu, which isn't extensive but has all the staples. Siu Mai, har gow, char siu bao. The food was decent and we did order one other dish off the regular menu, which was a veggie dish, but they said they could only make Chinese broccoli for lunch. Honestly, there are other restaurants in this strip mall plaza that I'd try before going back, but in a pinch it isn't terrible.

Dropped in here for lunch…read more The decor was clean and modern, but there was some packaging lying around on the front tables. I ordered the cucumber salad and seafood fried rice with XO sauce, as well as tea. The tea came first, with a very nice Western style porcelaib pot and cup and saucer. Elegant! The cucumber salad had an interesting dressing, slightly sweet, but with a healthy amount of garlic. Somehow, for me, it worked. The cucumber was very fresh and served as a nice neutral base to build the flavors on. I was warned when I ordered the fried rice that it was spicy. Well, it was slightly tingly, but nothing major for my tastes. The rice was soft and loose and flavourful. Surprised by what looked like short grain rice. The rice came with some kind of whitefish, shrimp, and scallops. Also very finely diced red and green peppers, carrots, and onions. It was very flavorful, the seafood was very fresh and perfectly cooked, and tasty without being salty. I got a refill of hot water for my tea without asking, which was very appreciated. Price for one person was a bit high, but portions were large enough for sharing between two, and compared to other prices on the White Rock Beach, this wasn't too bad. My coworker and I have been regular customers for almost a year because we genuinely enjoyed the food and the overall experience. Unfortunately, our visit today was extremely upsetting because of the way we were treated by the manager, Ms. Yang (possibly Rihanna Yang). During our visit, there was a misunderstanding regarding our order. A chicken dish was brought to our table, but we had not ordered it. I immediately explained that we did not order this dish and that I do not eat chicken due to an allergy/preference. We had ordered a fish dish instead. Instead of calmly checking the order or trying to resolve the misunderstanding, Ms. Yang repeatedly insisted, in a very loud voice in front of other customers, that we had ordered the chicken dish and that we had to eat it. She continued saying that we had to accept the dish and pay for it, even after I explained multiple times that we did not order it. The situation became very uncomfortable and embarrassing. Other customers were watching as she raised her voice at us. I politely asked her several times to please calm down and not speak to us in that manner, but she continued insisting and arguing. I even confirmed with my assistant, who was sitting with me, that neither of us had ordered the chicken dish, and she also confirmed that she had not heard us order it. A professional way to handle this situation would have been to apologize for the misunderstanding, check the order, and offer a solution. Instead, we felt pressured and disrespected. By the end of the interaction, I had completely lost my appetite and could no longer enjoy the food we had ordered. After asking her to remove the dish, she eventually took it away but told us that we were no longer welcome at the restaurant. After being loyal customers for almost a year, I found this response extremely disappointing and unacceptable. I understand that mistakes can happen in restaurants, but the way a situation is handled is what defines good customer service. Unfortunately, the way this matter was handled was unprofessional, embarrassing, and made us feel unwelcome. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that appropriate steps are taken to ensure customers are treated with respect and professionalism in the future.
