This is my go to spot for dim sum! Great food, great service, great variety on the dim sum menu, reasonable prices. They always bring us water, tea and all the sauces we ask for. I'm not a fan of their rice rolls, but every other item is so good I don't miss the rice rolls much. One of the best Ham Sui Gok dishes I've ever had. Also, squid with peppery salt is killer. Other favourites include the prawn spring rolls, shui-mai, and beef short ribs. I haven't tried their regular menu items but the dim sum I would recommend. I've been several times over many years and never had a bad experience. We had a heavy craving for Chinese food and this restaurant in the area was also offering free delivery within the designated kilometres (I can't remember lol). We had ordered the fried rice, house, special, chow mein with crispy noodles and the sizzling beef hot pot. My family's go-to spot for dim sum in Langley. All the dim sum here is pretty decent--not much to complain about. The only thing I would say not to get is the plain radish cakes. Go for the pan fried radish cake in xo sauce instead--it's SO much better! Another notable dish is the pan fried rice flour rolls in soy sauce. This dish brings me joy.. It's perfectly marinated. The empire garden baked BBQ buns are also really good--it's a BBQ pork baked bun with a sweet crispy top. The service is also really amazing, especially when they're serving a 15-person family! Ambiance is as you would expect for a Chinese restaurant--lots of large tables and families. read more

I noticed some odd people saying this restaurant was not as good/ authentic and others saying the exact opposite. This is as authentic a Chinese restaurant can get in south of the Fraser river. Surely there might be more authentic restaurants, in other cities/ areas in the lower mainland where the population requires a different level of "authenticity". As of now, Langley is not one of those cities. Accordingly, as any smart business would, this restaurant caters well to its local crowd. This restaurant is a long standing business in Langley, people come to eat here from other cities too, for a reason. The fact that this restaurant has passed the test of time, and Covid shutdowns, speaks for itself. Empire Garden was a short walk from our hotel and looked like a good choice for our group of 14 (not a typo!). On the plus side, WOW it's a lot of food for the money. We ordered two dinners for 6 and got enough food for at least 16 people in my opinion. I will never complain about getting 'too good a deal' - except this time we didn't have the ability to take extras home, so it was sad to leave food on the table. See the photo for all the contents of the 12 dishes. If you're not a seafood/crustacean fan beware: they will sneak some of those little fellas in there! For example, the Egg Fu-Yung and the House Special Fried Rice. Unless you're allergic you can pick them out I guess! A lot of the dishes seemed 'authentic' - in that they were sort of strange cuts of meat mostly bone-in. Plus many of the dishes were heavily deep fried. I guess this is good because if you add enough salt to any deep fried thing, I will eat it. The downside is that it makes the dishes rather heavy and you certainly won't feel like you ate something healthy when you walk out. I'd come back to try the Dim Sum here though! read more

It was the worst taste restaurant I've ever been to. We ordered Chow Mein but it was so dry and broccoli with beef was so tough. The spring roll was too much oil. Springroll color was dark brown so seems like the oil was old when they fried it. This meal was like leftover food. read more

Unfortunately this is one of the worst Chinese dinners I've had. Not only was the food rather bland and seemingly low quality, but my wife and I both felt gross the rest of the night. I don't think it was from food poisoning but rather just bad ingredients and lots of oil. First off, was the Crispy Noodle Chicken Chow Mein. The flavour was quite boring, and was mostly oil thickened with starch. The vegetables were limp. The Mixed Vegetable Chop Suey was quite similar. Same bland sauce. The vegetables were a bit of a strange mix. Also very soft and some mushy. The Ginger Beef strips were nice texture and cooked well, but the sauce was more like a sloppy sweet and sour rather than a tight, spicy ginger flavour we are used to. Way too pedestrian. The Almond Chicken was very anemic and didn't have the crispy coating I like. Also, there was way less than we are used to. At $80 this way too much money for such low quality food. The service was cheerful and the food was ready fast, and I hope these people continue to do well with the clientele that frequent their restaurant. It was interesting to see that when we were there at 6pm on a Sunday, the restaurant was maybe a bit more than 1/4 full and I don't think there was one East Asian person dining here. read more

I actually did a review about a year ago on this restaurant. At that time I did a glowing review. Today a year later, I must say, they still have not disappointed my husband and I. As I said previously, we are creatures of habits. About a month ago, we did a takeout order. We find their food very tasty and all ingredients are fresh. We would drive from our home in Burnaby to Langley so we can enjoy their food. Unfortunately when we got home when only then did we find out they made a mistake on our prawn spring roll order and instead we got har gow. I called the restaurant spoke to Glendy and he apologized and said that next time we are back they will give me a free prawn spring roll to fix their mistake. Their prawn spring roll is very tasty and just full of those yummy prawns, no fillers used. Last night, we drove to Langley to do our usual take out, Glendy was there and he remembered our phone call and true to his word he did follow through and we got our free prawn spring roll. Kudos to Glendy and Ivy, they were very nice to talk to. So if ever you are in Langley and craving some Chinese food then we highly recommend Empire Garden Chinese Restaurant, food is tasty, prices and serving is great, staff are friendly and hardworking. I now understand why this restaurant is known as having the best dim sum in the area. From the outside, it doesn't look like much. However, when I went to pick up my order, the place was packed with people. It's clear that their dim sum reputation is well known and well deserved. I wasn't expecting much, but even as I picked up my order, I was wondering why the containers were so big. I had only ordered three dim sum dishes: #2 - Empire Crystal Prawn Dumplings; #49 - Empire Garden Baked BBQ Pork Buns; and #52 - Deep Fried Meat Dumplings. When I opened the containers, I was shocked by how big the dim sum were. I'm used to getting tiny dumplings and portion sizes for dim sum, but each of the three items was so generously sized. They were all delicious and left me thoroughly impressed. The prices are pretty fair as well. This will now definitely be my go to place if ever I'm craving some good dim sum! read more

This is our go to Chinese restaurant for dim sum in Langley. We love that it's in our neighbourhood! Authentic Chinese food just a little pricier than your chicken chow mien all you can eat restaurant. It is totally worth the extra though, we keep going back for more. Our favourites for dim sum are the usual; har gow, shu mai, rice noodle roll with shrimp, sticky rice in lotus leaf, turnip patty and of course bbq pork steam bun. There's more we order if we have a good number in our group but it's the leisurely meal with family and friends that I love most. Don't forgot to drink your copious pots of green tea while eating to cut the grease. Totally would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good Chinese food. read more

I think this is the closest authentic but not really authentic Chinese food in Langley. The menu photos and food options are definitely geared towards the Canadian Chinese food crowd but at the same time can please those craving flavours found in Vancouver or Richmond. Prices are a bit higher for smaller portions. However, I think because there are only so many Chinese food options in this city. Service was very good. Food arrived fairly quickly. Food was good for what it was. We received cookies for dessert which is an upgrade from fortune cookies. read more

I have been doing Yelp restaurant review for a while now, and I seldom come across a place where half the reviews are terrible for various reasons and half of the reviews are terrific. It is not for me to tell someone how to run their restaurant. This review is my own personal experience. This is actually my second trip there. I did not do a review last time. This visit was for dim sum, 11am when they open, on a Saturday morning. We ordered Crabmeat seafood Shiu-Mei dumplings, Empire Prawn with Chive dumplings, Deep fried Squid with Peppery salt, Clams in black bean sauce, Braised E-Fu noodle with mushroom and dried scallop, Baked radish pastry and Rice flour balls with Sesame and peanuts. Everything was excellent, good flavor, well cooked and fresh. My wife, being from Taiwan especially was impressed with Radish pastry and Rice flour balls, which she says was very authentic and made to order. The restaurant wasn't busy at that time of the day, and the service was excellent. Reading some of the previous reviews, many say it is the best dim sum in Langley, and I have to agree with them. read more

It always looks really busy and has a mix of ethnic diversity among the dining clientele. We've enjoyed the standard menu items for take out a few times and have always been pleased with the quality, flavour and freshness. We haven't tried their dim sum yet but look forward to doing so. read more

I have been here a few times in the last year. The dim sum to my uneducated palate is excellent. Steamed pork buns are my litmus test, and this place has the best. Also the sticky rice is worth the trip alone. It is always busy, and does a brisk take out business, so call early if you want somebody to pick up the phone. It is a sign of freshness and quality when everybody wants to eat there. My only criticism (and this place is by no means alone) is that the take out containers are still styrofoam. I would rather pay a little more to take my leftovers in an environmentally container. Next time I will bring my own. read more

I'm not sure when it happened but there are new owners here and they are FABULOUS!!! When the previous owners were there there the food was good but the service sucked and was so freakin' slow but not anymore! My hubby and I have tried MANY other places and this is the one and only we keep coming back to. The new menu is wonderful. Amazing pictures that make you want to try everything. My only complaint is the egg rolls are greasy but they were like that with the previous owners and I find most places are the same. Now I am craving chinese :P read more

The dim sum was below average for me. Maybe I've just had better. One dim sum that tells you whether the restaurant is good or not is the har gow (shrimp dumpling 蝦餃). The dumpling skin was so thick. Given that Empire Garden is in Langley, it is a decent restaurant. They have a lot of options but mainly the standard dim sum items you can find anywhere. For someone who frequently eats in Richmond, the dim sum was not on par at all and honestly its about the same quality as T&T dimsum if not T&T could be a little better on a good day. Take the commute to Richmond or Vancouver if you want good dim sum. Or Neptune Seafood Restaurant in Surrey if you are in the Langley-Surrey area. read more

I never did get to try the food here. I went in with the intention of trying it here, but as it turns out, the kitchen didn't feel like cooking what I ordered. A man, I'd say more of manager came to the table and told my brother and I they were sold out of combos. I politely asked "you're sold out of food?" And he said "we're out of combos tonight." He was Icy, unfriendly, standing at the table with his hands folded behind his back, looking down his nose at us.. Apparently, the cooks didn't feel like cooking what my brother and I ordered. The manager was not friendly or welcoming, he was rather standoffish, and dismissive. When I asked my brother to leave, the manager snatched the Chinese tea off the table and some spilled on my lap. He didn't even acknowledge it, or apologize. If I was wearing shorts, I could have been scalded. I never even received a small apology, or an acknowledgment. I've never been treated so badly, for no reason. I've never tried the food here, and never will. Before you come here, call ahead to see if the cooks will cook what you want, they may turn you away at after ordering, and wear protective clothing. Personally, I'd go to "Chan's Palace" the food is wonderful, more reasonable and the staff is friendly, they will cook what you order and not spill tea on you. read more

This is my mom's favorite place for Chinese food so I took her there for dinner a couple of days ago. The food was good, the service was fine and the decor is beautiful. But in today's day and age a restaurant that serves Shark Fin soup gets put on the bottom of my list. This used to be my go-to study cramming, don't want to cook, just want something delicious and greasy Chinese food place in Langley. They're food was delicious and always exactly as I wanted it. They did free delivery over 20$ which was great. Now the management has changed and everything went to hell. The food is no longer something I crave. I went there last night on a trip home to Langley and I was seriously dissapointed. The service sure is pretty good but it does not make up for the downturn in food quality. The chicken chow-mein is now dry and under flavoured. The sweet and sour pork isn't deliciously smothered in sauce. It is instead overcooked and overbreaded. DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT FROM THIS RESTAURANT! Today was the last time I will ever go to Empire Garden. I placed an order over the phone this morning at 11:23 am. I ordered 5 dishes of dim sum and was told it would be ready for pick up in 25 minutes. I arrived in 20 minutes so I thought my order should be out soon. Now it is 11:53. Okay maybe a little busy, I figure. 12:03 now and I have to flag down a server to see where my food is. 15 minutes late, okay, getting a little perturbed. 10 minutes later she comes back and tells me their deep fryer is not working so I have to wait another 15 minutes for 2 of my dishes. 15 minutes later she says deep fryer not working and refunded me my money for the 2 dishes and gave me the other 3 dishes which of course were cold when I got home because they had been sitting on a shelf in the kitchen for half an hour before they gave it to me. 45 minutes I waited through this nonsense and they never offered to comp one of my dishes or anything else. Other people waiting to get seated that were watching this fiasco comiserated with me and said they had similar issues when ordering take out from this place. Also complained about missing dishes once you get the food home on many occasions. Unfortunately this is pretty much the only place to get dim sum near Langley or Maple Ridge, but take my word for it as someone who eats alot of dim sum; take the time to dine in a real dim sum restaurant in Richmond or Vancouver and NEVER ORDER TAKE OUT FROM THESE JERKS. read more

They have excellent food but the service from Aileen was horrible. We sat for an hour and as people that were seated after us were receiving their food, it prompted me to ask where ours was. When she brought it out it was dumped on the table and she walked away. We had to ask for bowls and utensils and everyone else that ordered soup had it served to them. When we asked her for soya sauce it was a very snarky, what else do you need? Never was offered drinks or even had the bill brought to us. Pretty much self serve. read more

It's been a while since I have had dim sum here but I remember it being much better. The 'juicy' pork dumplings were not juicy and another thing that was very strange was the bbq pork rice roll was full of peas- I've never seen this before and it was annoying to have to pick out all the peas since it just tasted weird and the pieces of pork were also as small as the peas. We went here for some typical Chinese food as per what you would get in the Vancouver area and I considered it on par or better than what you get from those places. Servers in most Vancouver Chinese restaurants dont have much personality or seem mad or that you are bothering them. At least here they smile and provide the best service they can, yes people are going to always get some sort of problem but that is life. Some of my favorite dishes are eggplant with pork, salty peppery fish, and honey moon fried rice. read more

Came here for dinner with a large group of family last weekend. There were about 4 chairs too many at the set table, but otherwise everything was organized for us when we arrived. Our server was, I presume, the manager of the restaurant and he was lovely. He informed us of their features and even sang to us a few occasions. He did forget to place our order for two dishes but once we asked about them, he quickly had them brought out to us. Food wise, everything is very fresh and portions are quite large. We had spring rolls, won ton soup, sweet and sour pork, honeymoon rice, beef and asparagus, mango chicken, cantonese noodles, shrimp and vegetables, and I think that was it. The spring rolls are very fresh and look to be prepared in-house. I don't eat port and so I skipped the next two dishes. The honeymoon rice was interesting. One side is a creamy ginger sauce with shrimp and peas, and the other is shredded chicken an egg in sweet and sour sauce. I preferred the chicken side as the ginger was too much white, thick sauce for me. All of the remaining dishes were very fresh and tasty with the beef and asparagus being my favorite. We ended up with a lot of leftovers but they were all still delicious the next day. Overall, if you're looking for a higher-end chinese restaurant in Langley, this is an excellent choice. Just ask not to sit by the fish tank wall. We were right in front of it and had to witness them take a large ling cod out with a net that was clearly too small. There was a big struggle with the fish and it ended up flopping all over the floor. Did not add to the experience. read more

Do not waste your money at this restaurant if you don't eat meat. I ordered two on menu vegetarian items and they were not brought out until the rest of my family got their leftovers to leave. The one dish the brought out the wrong dish two times with them insisting that's what I ordered. My family had to chip in and say they witnessed my order and that they heard me clear and correct the first time. The second dish was forgotten about. I asked my server twice about it and she would just nod and say " yes yes it's on its way". I later asked another server and he advised that it had never been made. The worst part is they charged me in full for both those items which I was unable to eat at the time of family dinner. Empire Garden severely lacks any class in terms of their service. Unfortunately, when I got home the Vegetable Chow Fun ( The dish the brought out completely wrong twice before) was missing the vegetable and was just soggy over cooked rice noodles that had bonded as one and formed into the shape of the to go container. The salt and pepper tofu was missing salt and pepper. Just plan deep fried tofu no seasoning and anything. I seasoned the tofu myself and ate but the $16 Chow Fun was, disappointingly, had to be thrown out. read more

Empire Garden is seriously excellent food. It reminds me of the food in Chinatown when I was a child or at some of the weddings I've attended. The chef here is amazing and the fact they also offer dim sum just makes everything even better! We've been many times and will continue to go.
