This place isn't on any top 10 dim sum lists, and I haven't seen it recommended anywhere, but I enjoyed it the most among the dim sum spots I've tried. The service isn't good, even if you speak their language. That said, it's almost a stereotype that Chinese dim sum spots don't have great service, so my expectations were low to begin with. No one checked on us the entire time, and whenever a staff member walked by, I just called out what we needed. It worked, and we got everything we wanted. On the positive side, the shrimp dumplings were massive, about the size of a girl's palm, with a thin, delicate skin that held the filling perfectly. I've tried dumplings at some of the top 10 spots in Richmond, and their skins were often too thick, so this was a big win. I also loved #37, the crispy wild rice rolls wrapped with prawns. Many places serve this, but this is the best I've tried: perfectly crispy on the outside, flavorful, and packed with shrimp. Another standout was #45, the deep-fried whole eggplant with shrimp and fish paste. Rich, savory, and served in a huge portion, it's definitely a dish worth sharing. Some items weren't as impressive. #11 beef tendons with special sauce felt a bit bland despite the sauce, and the chicken feet were smaller than my previous visits. Still, with the satisfying portions and standout dishes, this place feels like a hidden gem. I'd absolutely come back.

Service here is good for regulars. Quite popular for locals as staff here provide friendly greetings and extra service like free XO sauce or 10% off to faces they recognise. For out of town visitors, I won't recommend visiting here unless you are staying at the Hilton Burnaby and can walk over with no need to drive. Their parking lot at Crystal Mall is hectic and hexagon shaped...and not quite worth the parking woes when there are many better dim sum options in Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond. The biggest turn off for me here is that their rice roll doesn't come with the right sweet soy sauce and its steamed rice roll texture is simply not up to par. I can vouch for steamed rice roll from the Crystal Mall Food Court next door, which have the silky texture and fresh taste plus the right pairing soy sauce. Otherwise, the dim sum food menu here is quite standard. A positive note is their rice or noodle dishes comes in bigger portion and good value for sharing with a group. Nothing on the menu really stands out for me except for their soufflé dessert item ($12.50) which is made fresh to order and takes at least 30 minutes to make. It is quite busy here on weekdays and weekends so there are even tables right at its hallway entrace; thus, it's not the most cozy ambiance if you are sitting close to the door. Usually, those tables are for new faces and regulars would opt for tables inside with much better service and more spacious interior ambiance. Though my favourite dim sum foods doesn't taste good here, I would usually still go along if family friends choose to dine here. This is an overall solid place for diners seeking a standard dim sum experience and this place offers reasonable value for large groups with 10% VIP discount available.

grand crystal seafood restaurant is tucked away on the second floor of crystal mall, closer to the food court, and it definitely took some wandering to find it. the entrance feels modest at first, almost understated, but once you walk down the hallway and turn the corner, the space suddenly opens up into a massive banquet style dining room that truly lives up to the name. inside, it is pure classic dim sum energy. oversized round tables with lazy susans, bright recessed lighting and ornate chandeliers overhead give it the feel of a wedding venue more than a casual brunch spot. we had reservations at 11 am for a party of ten and were the first in our group to arrive, but the dining room was already pretty full and loud. conversations overlapped from every direction, servers moved quickly between tables, and the atmosphere was lively and chaotic in the way a proper dim sum hall should be. most of our party had trouble finding the restaurant, and for a moment we wondered if we had the wrong date. i wasn't hungry, as 11 am still feels too early for a full on feast. this was my first time visiting this venue, and we were lucky. the person who invited us is a regular, so we left all the ordering to them and clearly benefited from the vip experience. pricing are as follows: small $7.95 medium $8.75 large $9.50 extra large $10.50, specialty $12.50 tea is $1.25 per person, with take out containers and paper bags priced at $0.50 each. hungry or not, once the food started coming, there was no turning back. the table filled up rapidly. bamboo steamers stacked on top of each other, plates slid onto the lazy susan one after another, and soon we moved the teapots and water jug off the table to make room for everything else. there were plump siu mai topped with bright orange roe, delicate har gow with translucent skins showing the plump shrimp inside, and crispy spring rolls that shattered when bitten into. cheung fun rolled around tender shrimp and beef, slick with sweet soy sauce. pan fried dumplings came crisp on the bottom and juicy inside, while stuffed vegetables and seafood added a lighter contrast. heartier dishes were mixed in as well: stir fried beef with onions, glossy flat noodles tangled with soy and aromatics, had a nice smoky wok hey and a plate of leafy pea tip shoots swimming in a light, savoury broth. everything felt abundant, overlapping, and unapologetically excessive. the lamb hotpot anchored the table, bubbling away in the centre. the broth was rich and aromatic, with cubed lamb, napa cabbage, ginger and green onions simmering together. the dim sum was solid and consistent across the board, with no obvious misses, just plate after plate of reliable classics done well. there was still plenty left over, enough that the next day felt like a continuation of the meal, dim sum round two straight from the fridge. three parking is available underground at crystal mall, but we chose to park elsewhere and walk over, to avoid some of the congestion. overall, grand crystal delivers exactly what you expect from a large scale dim sum destination: a massive dining room, non stop food, plenty of noise, and a deeply communal experience. come with a group, come hungry, and be ready to take leftovers home.

Tucked within the busy small shops within Crystal Mall is a hidden gem. From the outside, it seems like it's one of the smaller snack shops. Once you enter the facade, you are welcomed by a banquet-style hall with a nice window view of Burnaby. This is a great place to have a nice family meal. We had a table for 10. It was all set up by the time we arrived. I liked how easy parking is at this location - the first 3 hrs is free. Every dish was very tasty and delicious. My young nephew (only 2 years of age) devoured the duck! He enjoyed every bite or it. I especially liked the Halibut and Spareribs.

Chinese food is my all time guilty pleasure- so when we have family dinners here, I indulge! The food was delicious! I liked every dish that came through. There were some dishes where the veggies could've just been cooked maybe for a minute longer (the sweet and sour pork and the angus beef dish). Pricing is bit on the higher scale, and while I did enjoy the food, there are some dishes that I don't think are worth the pricing (imo). Service is also decent- the servers are very attentive and will change your plates and refill the teas without asking. I still have loyalty for another Chinese restaurant, but this place is great for large groups and special occasions!

We don't their speak language. We had to wait for them to bring someone who spoke English. Food was average, not as favorable, desserts were yummy tho! Big portions! Busy place!

Very solid dim sum place inside Crystal Mall. Parking is available in the lot underneath the mall. The place is surprising large considering it's part of the mall. Quite a few tables, and can handle large groups. Place looks pretty modern. Staff were friendly and professional. Selection is decent, and food is fresh and tasty. No complaints at all. Pricing is decent too. Shrimp dumpling and siu mai baskets come in 5. Bunch of us had a good time. Wouldn't mind coming back. Recommended.

We wanted to try a new place for dim sum on our trip to Vancouver on our day trip. Now, Grand Crystal is our favorite dim sum spot. The menu is in English and Chinese. The portions are generous. Everything had great flavor and texture. We will spread the news to our friends and look forward to our next visit.

We came here for dinner and chose their meal combo with a choice of 3 dishes. Food: 4/5 - the portions were decent size and food was tasty. Overall we were impressed. We received a complimentary swallow nest soup and sweet bean dessert soup with the combo special. Service: 3/5 - service was on the slow side. Atmosphere: 5/5 - a great place for any occasion from birthdays to just because. They even have large party rooms for a special event. Parking: 5/5 - complimentary parking available in the parkade downstairs. Overall a great place for Asian food in the Metrotown area.

Another edition of dimsum with dad. If it's a long weekend and I didn't have dimsum with my dad, would it really be a long weekend? Grand Crystal is within Crystal Mall which means parking at Crystal Mall. That part sucks, but I guess I can't hold that against Grand Crystal. The food was pretty darn good and the prices were pretty much the modern standard. Service was on par with dimsum joints. Nothing incredible, but they recognize my dad so we get free XO sauce. My dad likes that. Insider tip: The head chef specializes in Shanghai cuisine. This was shared with us by one of the managers. He suggested ordering the xiao long bao and sheng jian bao (pan-fried pork bun) and after trying them, I'd have to agree. In addition... they serve dimsum all day!

First time being here but the food is quiet good we had the king crab dinner and it was cooked perfectly. The service was very good and the atmosphere was very comfortable.

DimSum Sunday Grand Crystal Seafood Restaurant Good pricing! However, disappointed food quality.... The black truffle scallop dumplings' texture is mushy! BBQ pork bun is a bit dry for its filling I don't recommend their signature rice rolls since the stuffed Chinese donuts and meat floss are way too dry .... Beef tendon and steamed meat balls are just pretty average.

They offer a wide variety of Shanghai-style dim sum, including dumplings, wontons, rice cake, several meat noodle soups, and some combo rice dishes. Big size and very delicious. I'd ask for extra dipping sauce (or the chill oil if you like spicy). These can get messy if you don't be careful. Take a small bite of the skin first and sip the soup inside before diving in. The soup is very hot, so I usually pour it onto a spoon and drink it from there. #13 is translated as "Steamed Mini Pork Buns" in English and Shanghai Xiaolongbao in Chinese on the menu, which is misleading. When I ordered it last time, it turned out to be the same buns as #14, just steamed instead of deep-fried. They're large and not mini at all like traditional XLB. Personally, I didn't enjoy them as much as the fried version and wouldn't order them again. They tend to stick together and aren't very to-go friendly. #14 is the star here, and it's absolutely worth coming back for.
