Gotten food here many times. Not sure about some of the older reviews, I've lived in the area since 1998 and started eating here not long after they opened. Over all, they are in the range, if not slightly higher than other take out places. Owned by the same people as Sampan (as I understand it), never really understood what a sister location really is. Hands down, the best Chinese delivery option in the North Woodbridge area. Standouts include the Singapore noodles, General Tso's anything, and the lo mein. I moved across the country several years ago and often wonder why it is that I've gotten 3000 miles closer to China and there is no decent Chinese food out here. I miss you Empire! Best Chinese around hands down, I was so impressed after picking up my order and bringing it home, it's a shame I'm out of their delivery area. The veggies were fresh not soggy and the rice was great 8-10 med shrimp in the lunch portion fried rice. I was so delighted. I will def be a regular now. So glad my coworkers hooked me up with it. First time ordering delivery from this place. A friend recommended it. We ordered the pu pu platter, a beef and broccoli special, combination Lo Mein and combination fried rice. I ordered at 3:45pm and received the order by 4:05 pm. The estimated delivery time was 4:30, so we were very happy with this. The driver left it in our door, knocked and waited in his car for us to open. He was wearing mask and gloves, he greeted us. All orders were very well seasoned and fresh. The portions are very generous. The beef broccoli isn't a spicy dish but it had a very nice ginger seasoning. We didn't need soy sauce or anything. The best items on the pu pu platter were the ribs and the fried chicken wings. We are 2 adults and 2 young children, we have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch read more

All of our family would order from this place weekly. When all of us would eat, the order would be around $50, today just two of us eat for around $20. Today they gave us the wrong order and we had to drive back while they kept calling and asking how long it would be. I am guessing they wanted to hand out the incorrect order to the other customers, when returned!!! Well, for us the best part was, they asked for the difference in payment, a whopping 2 Dollars!!! I hope that two dollars was important because they lost an estimated $800.00 per year and we will go to Chow less then a mile away forever!!! Meh. The orange chicken is actually pretty decent. Everything else was bland. Fried rice has no veggies. At all. Doesn't even have egg in it. It's literally rice tossed in soy sauce. The crab rangoons were inedible. Hardly any filling. Only super greasy fried wonton. They forgot the egg drop soup that I ordered so I can't provide a review on that. One bite of the egg and spit that out and promptly threw in the trash. The triple delight was void of any flavor and no amount of soy or duck sauce made it taste any better. Threw that in the trash. I ordered here because I wanted to try a new place. I was REALLY hoping for something great when I ordered it. Unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. The food took over an hour to arrive and it wasn't very good. The dumplings were VERY bad...nearly 1/4 inch thick pasta made them nasty. I use to eat at Sampan, which is the "sister" store of this restaurant. Since it was alittle out of my way to go to Sampan, I was happy when I found out Empire was opening. I've eaten there four times. Unfortunately, I ordered from them last night and found mice feces in my carton of white rice. Needless to say, I will not be eating there again. I would suggest checking out the sanitary conditions when eating out by searching for them on the department of health database. read more

We come here quite often for take-out. We usually call ahead and for the most part they are great with taking orders over the phone. The wait times are not long either. Only one time did I have a poor experience here and it was the most recent time that I went. They didnt get all of my order when I called, and when I got there he kept insisting that he got it right when I was trying to tell him that he was wrong. Then he went in the back to tell the cooks to make the missing part of my order, and when he came back to the front it was still incorrect because the cook made the wrong thing. The guy from up front kept trying to get me to take the incorrect order and I told him that I would rather have what I ordered. He then went in the back to have the cook correct it and it was right. While this experience was unfortunate I have to say that normally they do a better job than this. read more

This is my second time eating here in two weeks, which is a good sign I think. First time grabbed Shrimp Lo Mien just for me. Tonight got dinner for both of us. Triple Mandarin Crown for him, Lo Mien again for me and Steamed Dumplings to share. First the food is good, not incredible but good and better than many inthe area. For all three entrees plus a free pint size Chicken Fried Rice for spending over $25 (you have to ask) the food lasted two people for three plus meals, two dinners and lunch for both on Monday. I have ordered Chinese food from Empire for years. I am 41 yrs old and when I was a high school student I loved it when my family ordered from here. The food was always perfect and it was hands down the best place for Chinese food. Fast forward and when we moved to Stafford I would make special trips to Empire and the food was spot on everytime. The meat, rice, everything fresh and delicious. Now I live in Lake Ridge and I was thrilled to be close by but the quality is no longer what it used to be. Today the chicken fried rice was dry and looked old. The beef with onions & green peppers were ok but not rich like previously. The sauce was watery and the Wonton soup Hong Kong style greasy. Each time I have ordered has gotten worse. This area in general isn't what it once was and that is reflected in the restaurants. It saddens me because Empire used to be great but now I think that the kind owners need to take a vacation, reevaluate, and hire better cooks. They were one of my favorite places to eat for years and years but in the last year, the food isn't good amymore. This will be my last time ordering before I move back to Stafford. Maybe Empire will improve. I hope so. read more

This place hits hit out of the park every time. We've always called in our order and did pick up. But, I found a Order Online option on their website (Upper right hand corner). We have been using that ever since. Our order is correct every time. We are now hooked on their Crab Rangoon. Yum! Nice to have a go-to for Chinese in the neighborhood. This is probably the best Chinese restaurant in Woodbridge. I've been to so many Chinese restaurants and none of them is as good as Empire. Their portions are very generous and the food always taste fresh. The people in the front desk speak little English but they are very polite and nice to their customers.
