First time customer, carry out. Since they're in the hood, I have no idea how we've missed them. Our 20" pizza was 1/2 1/2 No Sleep Till Brooklyn and Joezilla, with garlic knots and pink sauce. Many reviewers mention the crust and I would agree to its perfection. The garlic knots were hands down the best I've ever had -- a really, yummy yeasty dough, drenched in butter and parm'! No Sleep was my 1/2 of the pizza and it was everything I expected -- love the arugula and vinaigrette. Hubby said he liked the Joezilla, especially the Sriracha drizzle, but would order something else next time. There are so many choices, why not? I cannot wait to order another. I've driven by here a lot but we finally stopped on a Sunday night when we wanted great pizza but nothing else seemed open. At. All. In.Tulsa. I debated on a three or a four star review. While in all honesty, it's probably a 3.5, I love pizza places like this so let's go with a 4! Very industrial vibe inside which makes sense since it's part of the old Meadowgold building. The murals are fantastic. I wanted to study them all to see all the old concert posters. We also sat there and were inspired to go home and stream some of the older movies that were plastered up. I went with a half house salad. Love the goat cheese. I noticed after I ordered that there was a special kale salad for the month. I really wish I had ordered it but the house salad is a winner. I also went with a slice of the Fungus Among Us. It had a lot more spinach on it than I remember. In fact, there was more spinach than fungus! There are no taps here and no fountain drinks. Everything's in a can. That's OK just be aware. There are local beers available and a white and red canned wine. I will probably remember this spot to pick up whole pies on the way home. Pros: this location is so much easier to get to in order to go from then the other location. Very short wait time for slices. Cons: I really like empire's marinara sauce. And I don't think this location adds enough marinara sauce to their slices. So I'll always have to pay for a side of marinara. read more

I stopped in at empire on 3.14 Pi day for a couple of slices of Pizza Pie. Due to a very windy day, they were a bit behind after having lost power earlier. However, they had my pizza out in good times with friendly service. The place always looks clean and nice too. The crust was thin, crisp and chewy like a good NY pizza should be and the slices looked great. However, I found that it lacked in flavor, which is unusual. I'm not sure if the sauce or seasonings were off or maybe my taste buds were off that day, but it was not as flavorful as normal. Maybe the power outage threw things off. Sometimes a restaurant can have multiple locations, whether it's the same city or surrounding cities and two things can happen: 1. I end up picking a favorite and/or 2. One location suits me better than another (the same menu item could taste + differ depending on said locations). In this situation, it doesn't matter which Empire Slice House I go to. It can be this one, the one next to Soundpony or even in the one in OKC, Empire Slice House is all-around good. I for the Ghostface Killah (my all-time favorite on the menu) & the Pepperoni (I get this by default + pepperoni is my all-time favorite pizza). Both slices were satisfying & gave me what I needed as I was set to DJ an outdoor event in close to 100 degree weather. The wait time was around 5 mins, which what I like most about this franchise, they don't take long at all! What's funny is that both locations in Tulsa are about the same distance from me. I appreciate a good lunch deal, and Empire has one. For $4.50 a (big) slice, you get to pick from a short list, or, for $11 you can make it a lunch deal with pizza, salad, and a soda. We just had an amazing first visit here! For a counter service shop, the customer service was superior - from a greeting when we walked in, checking in and making sure everything was tasting good (which it so was!) to a genuine goodbye as we left. My favorite part is that you can order by the slice, rather than having to commit to an entire pizza of one flavor. They have a rotating pizza by the slice menu for each day of the week! They had a few canned soda/beer/wine options and a nice filtered water and ice machine (with the amazing nugget ice!) I never thought about what it looked like, then I only care about their pizzas, which I like to eat. Pepperoni: Great, but tastes the same as like saying that "Little Caesars." However, I should say better replace it with vegan cheese or create your own pizza. Rating: 4.0 Fungus Among Us: Ahh, you first smell it, then you get the beautiful truffle oil. We happened to stumble on this place after walking down in the pearl district. They had only been open a week at this point. The inside is nice reminds me of an MTV studio with music billboards on the wall and music videos playing on TV. It's nice and roomy with 10 to 12 tables. It does have its own parking lot which is hard to come by on 11th St. I love the pizza names as you can get the standard toppings and also one offs from the restaurant as well. On this night we ordered two Caesar salads and the Teflon Don pizza. The pizzas come two ways, by the slice or a 20" whole pizza. The Caesar salads are good, but they forgot our dressing when we ordered them. The Teflon Don pizza was good. My only gripe is I would've liked to see more browning on the toppings. All in all, it's a good place, especially for a fresh opening. I would have to say I would eat here again in a month or so and see how it's changed once they get the swing of things. read more
