I'm a fan of this Chinese spot. It's quick, easy and I don't get that greasy feeling. BUT, I'm annoyed I ordered catering and they didn't give us any sauce! We got a whole tray or pork fried rice and sesame chicken and no sauce. That's just a pet peeve. Why didn't they throw in the sauces? read more

I had tried this place years ago, but hadn't tried again until recently. I live in Englewood on the border of Tenafly and one of our favorite places is now closed on Sundays (which is when we usually order). I decided to try this place again and I am happy we did! We've had their shrimp rolls, pork egg rolls, pork fried rice (no peas....I'm not sure if it comes with peas, but I always ask for none anyway), chicken wings, pork spare ribs, boneless spare ribs, General Tsos Chicken and homemade tea. The only thing we weren't crazy about was the pork spare ribs. Sauce was good, but slightly overdone and a little fatty. Everything else was awesome! Delivery is always no longer than a half hour and always is delivered with a smile (despite wearing a face mask). It's pretty neat that they have a drive thru window to pick up orders. Super convenient if you're disabled, have kids or pets with you, or the weather is bad. $2 delivery fee to order through their website. Check it out! read more

The food here is delicious, it really is. I've always gotten delivery and had never been inside until recently. I wish I had never gone for pick up because oh man, this place is so dirty! I was immediately grossed out when I walked in. Everything was coated in a layer of dust, the floor was filthy with dust and black stains, the kitchen was open they had some weird dirty plastic hanging down separating the kitchen from the few dirty tables. When I looked into the kitchen, I saw they just had ribs laying out, not refrigerated; also the woks for cooking looked crusty. Honestly, I was shocked at how gross it looked inside, old and just falling apart. I've never gotten sick eating here, but I now can't unsee how dirty it was. 5 stars for tasty food, 1 star for cleanliness, I guess 3 star average, but eat at your own risk. read more

My favorite Chinese place in the area. How cool is it that they have a drive up window for pick up? Delivery is also fast and consistent. I generally stick to the healthy menu (I know boring) but delicious and easy on my stomach. The steamed chicken with broccoli makes me think they put something in that chicken that makes it so good, almost too good to be healthy. Dumplings are dynamite too, I always gobble up whatever is left. Not sure what I want for dinner tonight and I think I may just get delivery from here! read more

I went to order and pick up food for my mom with my little brother and cousin. They don't take Apple pay so we had to walk back to the house and come back with debit. They closed early. This place has been just getting better and better. Their pork fry rice actually have bigger pieces of pork in it and its not salty. They also put bean sprouts in their pork fry rice. They steamed broccoli and chicken is amazing and not bland. They are nice and accommodating. I love them and recommend them. I hope they are in business until the end of time. :) PS They give you a bigger container of hot oil and not the cheap tiny container most places give you. read more

Happily, this is our new go-to Chinese take-out place. We've only had the wonton and egg drop soups, chicken wings, boneless spare ribs, and a couple of shrimp entrees so far. However, everything has been well above average. The riblets are perfection - sweet, meaty and not over cooked. The place is old and dingy but you can see into the very clean kitchen. There's a drive-through window that we haven't used yet. Nice people, good prices. read more

Old time locals know, this is THE place to get chinese take out. I do not expect much from Chinese Take Out places, but among Chinese Take Out joints, Hunan Express is the best, by far. Overall, Hunan Express is the king of all Chinese take out places in the area. My favorite appetizers. 1) Cold Noodles with Peanut Sauce - I add julienned cucumbers and cilantro which made it more thai than chinese, but it makes it infinitely tastier. I love their peanut sauce. It's an appetizer but it's big enough to be a meal. 2) Scallion pancakes - Hunan's SP is surprisingly delicious even tho it's a Korean dish. Theirs is actually better than some Korean restaurant's scallion pancakes! read more

Horrible service - an order of fried rice and dumplings took over an hour. When I call the restaurant they say my food was delivered to the wrong address, they were going to pick it up from there and deliver it here. I said no, it's been over an hour and in someone else's house so it's most likely cold and been rifled through. I asked for them to fire up a new order for me - they refused!!! I don't eat Chinese food often, but when I do, my family orders from this place. We've been getting Chinese food from them ever since we moved nearby the area. We've basically become a "regular" to them, the lady who usually answers the phone remembers who we are and knows where live. The delivery man is friendly and comes quickly. I've never been inside Hunan Express, but from what I see on the outside, it may need a little bit of fixing up in the inside. They have a drive thru pick up delivery window that's next to the restaurant, just order beforehand and let them know its pickup, drive up to the window when its ready and ring the doorbell located next to the window. There are other Chinese food restaurants in Bergenfield, but majority of them don't deliver, so this is probably the only option for me that I know of. They also have half and full trays for like catering events, but I don't think having Chinese food catered is a good idea, since it'll eventually get cold and be unappetizing. As for the food, it's not that satisfying, it'll just fill you up with all its oily and salty goodness. I think that the proportions of the food are uneven, such as beef with broccoli, you'll definitely get more broccoli than meat. Sometimes the General Tso's chicken is perfect, but at times, it's really dry and overcooked. read more

This is my all time FAVORITE Chinese takeout. I get food from here at least 2x a week and that still isn't enough. I've been going here since I was super young and you'd think I'd get sick of it, but that's the complete opposite! The owners are the nicest people I've ever met Their vegetables are super fresh and I'be never gotten sick from here, which both are MAJORLY important to me when eating from somewhere! Don't listen to those horrible reviews, my food is ALWAYS ready and hot and fresh after only 7-10 minutes after calling it in! FAN FREAKING TASTIC! I've been ordering from this place for a little over ten years and they never fail me. I've even watched their children grow up, that's how long I've been a customer.
