Worst customer service. We had our tile floor replaced with vinyl flooring. The mess that was left took a full weekend to clean. They also left a nice dent on my front door and a corner of our entryway. When my wife asked if they could hang up more tarps and cover our countertops, he responded. "I don't have any, they didn't tell me I'd be taking up tile!" It took a week for anyone to respond to my concerns and when she did, she said "opps, sorry about that." I will never use them again. It's was Friday the 13th. The installers, lead man Angel and his daughters dealt with missing parts, wrong measurements, defective materials. And they didn't finish on time. After their clean up, it was about 8:00pm that night after they left, I heard a hissing sound in the hallway. I'm freaking out, called 911 thinking there's a gas leak. Fire department showed up and found a nail through the subfloor piercing the water lines. The workers returned to my home Saturday morning to finish their work and they denied any wrongdoing refusing to take responsibility. The plumber confirmed they were at fault and repaired the leak. Before scheduling the installation, I called the business and asked whether they could replace the subfloor. They stated they could, and I would not have moved forward with replacing the carpet if they had told me that they would not be able to install the subfloor. When the estimator came to our house, my husband asked her once again whether they could replace the subfloor. She confirmed that they could replace the subfloor. On the day of the install, the worker removed the carpet and my husband asked him to replace the subfloor as agreed, but he stated that he could not. He then called his manager to explain the situation and handed the phone to my husband, who spoke with the manager at length. The manager stated that they could not replace damaged subfloor and that the other employees had been mistaken. The manager explained that all they could do was pour a cleaning agent on the subfloor, let it dry, and then install the new carpet. At this point, with the carpet already ripped out and with an open house and showings scheduled, we had no choice but to have the new carpet installed. Unsurprisingly, covering damaged subfloor with new carpet did not eliminate the bad odor, and the money we spent replacing the carpet was therefore wasted. If the company failed to record our repeated requests to have the subfloor replaced, that only further underscores the poor customer service they provided throughout this process. Their claim that we did not raise this issue at the time of service is simply false. As I stated above, my husband asked the worker to replace the subfloor during the installation and then escalated the issue to his manager, who was not able to provide a solution. As frustrating as it is that the company induced us to hire them by providing incorrect information, it is even more concerning that they continue to refuse to take any responsibility for their actions and have made no effort whatsoever to make this right. Empire Today responded on Yelp to contact them to make things right. So I had new carpet installed in the master bedroom a couple of weeks ago and now I have a flea infestation. My cats both had to go to the groomer for dips and treatment while I had the house bombed by the pest control company (they are both 100% indoors and I've had cats for 23+ years with never a single flea problem). They are staying with my parents for a couple weeks now until after the second treatment. At least they are buggy-free now and hopefully the house is too. The pest control tech agreed that it was most likely the carpet b/c of the timing, and the fact that I've had no visitors and 90% of my house is hardwood/tile. I'm going after the carpet company for the cost since the 3 house treatments will cost $700 (including tax) and it was a little over $100 for the kitties. I submitted a case with Empire and sent them the documented tech report from his inspection along with my costs. After about 3 days they basically said, "nope, not us, good luck". Don't trust their website for reviews, they go through a third part review program that ensure it looks better than it is. Salesman show pictures of what the vinyl flooring will look like. But what was installed was complete different color shade. Customer service stated it was just the lighting in the house that makes it look different and hung up on me twice. Didn't even act like it was an accidental hang up. Also stated she was being nice by taking my call and offering to email a photo of the salesman in the house with the same color sample, but nothing received. Company installed laminate flooring and the top later peeled off on the stairs. It took well over a year and over 20 unreturned phone calls, over the course of 8 months, to the warranty management team before they sent someone to inspect. 3 months went by after said inspection with no word from them. When I was finally able to get a hold of the team, they said the flooring company denied my warranty claim because it is "site damage". In other words, my fault. I've only ever used laminate approved cleaning products on my stairs, and they do not get the amount of use as the same flooring on the first level of my home. Not sure how they justify the bs denial, but I guess we'll find out in court. Empire has been wholly unhelpful and complicit in this. Cost: Empire started our quote off at over $10,000 dollars (for 1 living room & dining room and three small bedrooms - about 1,000 square feet) and then brought it down with their "discounts" and "special offers". Then the salesman (Oren) called his manager and asked him to "work his magic" for more off. It was just 1 of the manipulative tactics they used. He then said that if we don't purchase today and get the carpets installed in a week, we won't be able to keep the quoted price ($3,600). Installation: When they came to install the carpets it all started off great until they missed a portion of the floor that was to be left uncarpeted (for a kitchenette). When the installer was approached about this he said that it was too late, that the carpet was already glued down. We called the salesman who said that the carpet is not glued down and that he would call the installation manager. Turns out they missed the notes made by the salesman to leave the portion uncarpeted. Though even if seen, the measurements were not correct (I directly showed the salesman at the house where this location was). Luckily, we were able to tell the installers exactly where this was. After they cut this out, there was no glue. After it was cut we asked about installing the transitions (standard with carpet installations) and the same installer who lied to us about the glue said that it would be extra and we could only do tack strips. It eventually came out that they did not bring enough transition material since they missed the note about the uncarpeted area. It was clear this installer was trying to get done as quick as possible and get out of there, willing to lie to do it. We called the salesman and he said that we can get the transitions that are standard with the installation. There was then a plan for them to come back the next day. When they came back they went down and started to do there thing. Eventually they called me down and said they were done. When I looked it was just the tack strips. They did not do the standard transitions discussed. I asked them about this and again they said it would cost extra. I was done and so frustrated with working with Empire I just wanted it to be over so I did not press the issue further. The last issue with installation was that they did not put carpet 4 inches up the wall (my mother likes this look and requested this to the salesperson) and when approached he said this was never requested throughout, just 1 room (which makes no sense why we would only want this in one room). Buyer Beware! We purchased carpet for a premium price. The Carpet is good quality, but installation was shoddy. The carpet in all 3 bedrooms in which it was installed began buckling at seams and doorways about 7 months after installation. At 2 years of age, the carpet obviously needs to be re-stretched. Empires response: (1) carpet installation is only warranted for 1 year; (2) "This is normal for carpet to need to be re-stretched as it 'settles into the room after it is laid'; (3) The solution is for us to remove all furniture from the rooms and pay $450 for original installer to come and re-stretch the carpet! We have had carpet installed in two previous homes we owned (by carpet companies different from Empire) and never had these issues, even 15 years after the carpet was installed. Also, at the time of installation, one of the crew members attempted to load two large rolls of leftover carpet into their van. When I stopped them, they responded, "Oh, did you want the leftover carpet?" Yes, we paid for it and did want it! We would never use Empire again and would not recommend them to anyone. If you do use them, ask for references for the independent contractor who will do the installation! read more

WHY did I not check Yelp for reviews before I called this horrible place for my flooring? If ever there was a company that earned zero stars, this is it. I'd give negative stars if I could. If you're just looking for carpet, Empire *may* be OK, but STAY AWAY if you're looking for wood, laminate, or vinyl. Empire's claim is that you call, they schedule a salesperson to "bring the showroom to your home", you choose what you want, and they can install the floors in as little as a day. That's sort of what happens, but the actuality is that the salesperson, at least in my case, was an EXTREMELY unprofessional, high-pressure, unnerving, extraordinarily creepy, person who seemed to prioritize "getting the sale" above everything else. Despite my reservations, I wanted a new floor, and decided to go with Empire. I chose LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) to replace my existing wood laminate, and was told by my salesperson that the existing baseboards would have to be removed in order for the new floor installed. They advies that the installer would remove my baseboards and reinstall them afterwards. They'd also said that all I'd have to do is paint touch-up on them after reinstallation. The next step was to initial a gigantic list of legal items to which the purchaser agrees and understands, one of which was basically, "Empire will not do anything with any existing baseboards", and when I questioned this and said I was not comfortable initialing something that contradicted what they told me would be done, they very flippantly said, "Don't sign it then", and "It's in your contract", which to be clear, I never was shown. I left it un-initialed. They also told me that I'd have to empty all of the contents from the refrigerator to enable the installer to move it (which the salesperson said would be moved with a "dolly", which also seemed very odd), that I'd need to disconnect the electrical and water lines for all the appliances, and pull them out from under the counters to prepare for the installation. I did all of this the night before the scheduled installation, and wound up losing all of the food because I was unable to rent coolers from any event places because most of them are closed because of the pandemic. I would have been OK with this if my floors got installed. The installer arrived on time and reviewed the work to be done. Empire had ordered 1/4 round material to be placed in front of the existing baseboards to cover the 1/3" gap that would be left because the new floor was that much thinner than my existing floor. I told the installer (who did not work for Empire, there are many different installers that Empire hires) that Empire told me that the baseboards would be removed and replaced, that I'd only need to touch up any paint, and that baseboard removal and replacement was "in my contract" per the salesperson. He double-checked the work order from Empire, and he showed me where they'd specified quarter round to be installed in front of the existing baseboards. He also said he'd have to call and get them to change the work order before he could do anything differently, and that even if he did get authorization, if the existing baseboards are MDF, they probably couldn't be removed without them being broken, and that the lowered baseboards would greatly draw attention to the 1/3" gap under the door frames that the new floor would cause. I asked what he, as a professional installer would recommend, and he said that thicker flooring is available, as is thicker underlayment, but that Empire doesn't sell it. He also said that most people he does the 1/4 round for don't like it, and the problem is that I won't know whether I'd like it or not until after the job was done, and it's too late at that point. With his guidance, we opted not to do the installation because he was sure I'd not be happy with it (two-year-old new construction home, and he thought it would stand out as being completely out of place). I got a call from the pushy salesperson a few minutes after the installer left that I let go to voicemail, saying that they heard that there was a "problem with the installation" to which I later left a voicemail saying that the problem was that what Empire had ordered was COMPLETELY different than what they'd told me was in my contract, to which I received a text directing me to call their manager. Their manager was equally useless, albeit more friendly. The manager called me four days later saying, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do" (to live up to their promised work that was supposedly in my contract). When I asked again about the $300 worth of food that had to be thrown away, his response was, "Yeah, that's too bad that that happened". So, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING EMPIRE FOR ANYTHING!!!!! Poor service seems to be commonplace, but outright fraud and deception that costs potential customers money is a different level of terrible. I'm going to write the Better Business Bureau about this incident. read more

STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS! I will start with a list of Pro's and Con's Pro's: 1. Saved a lot of money 2. Install was scheduled quickly and at a time that was very convenient for me. 3. The installers told me about problems as they came up so I could make a decision before the installation resumed. Con's: 1. Installers cut materials inside the house leaving heavy layers of dust one everything in the house. Required extensive cleaning afterwards. 2. Installers left a mess in my driveway, garage, house that consisted of construction scraps, nails, carpet fibers, pools of glue and adhesive, leftover lunch and beverage bottles. 3. Installers put a hole in my bedroom window screen. 4. Installers left black greasy hand prints all over freshly painted doors and door jambs after reinstalling them. 5. Installers did severe damage to my front steps by dragging heaving equipment up and down them causing expensive damage. 6. Installers ripped out one of the bedroom curtain rods. To hide the damage the threw a screw in the wall and never told me about it. The curtain rod fell out of the wall not long after they left, hitting my wife in the head. 7.Installers left long black scuff marks on two of my bedroom doors. 8. Sales person April was non-responsive when trying to communicate with her about the installation process. 9. Sales person April made promises about the installation that were never possible. She said we would be able to do laminate in our stairs, on installation day we were informed this was not physically possible. 10. Sales person April did not order all the required parts and materials required for the installation, this added two days to the installation. 11. Sales person April did not complete our contract correctly causing us to be harassed by a sales manager demanding thousands in additional payments that we did not owe. 12. Customer service is wretched, they don't listen, they don't care, they don't follow up. 13. Everyone passes the buck. If there is a problem, the person you need to talk to is never available. 14. Installers do not use PPE (masks) during installation or when conversing with you directly. 15. Sales managers call you to try and get you to pay money you do not owe them. I think that about covers it. There are a few additional small issues, but honestly if you even made it this far you are an avid reader. Once Empire gets your money......they don't care about anything else. The only reason they care if you even get a floor is because its illegal not to give it to you once you have paid for it. Zero customer service, no attempt to have satisfied customers that tell their friends about them or come back for a second purchase. Nope, they do not care. They rely on ads to get one and done customers who they attempt to screw over by cutting corners, doing shoddy work, and attempting overcharge bait and switch tactics. Stay away at all costs. Edward Schefter (Mr.Ed) ,called us this morning and told us that he was on his way to our house and he quickly hung up on us without saying good bye or see you guys soon. I thought was rude. He was punctual which we liked about him but he didn't even say hi to me or acknowledge me. After that, we started to talk about prices. The regular price was high but they had a lot of coupons which we loved. When we tried to apply for a payment plan we were denied. He seemed discouraged and disturbed that we were denied and said, "denied". There was a very long awkward pause after that and he than he said, "other options. Well, do you guys?" While he was packing his stuff he was like, "take a loan from the bank". He walks to our front door like we wasted his time. There was no eye contact when he turned around to head toward our door. He continued to leave. He was out in like two minutes. He brought a bad vibe in our house, he wasn't very friendly and he was disrespectful. If you enjoy buying a car from a slimy used car sales person, you will love this sales experience. No real prices. Just a bunch of banter/nonsense. I paid over $3,000 for new carpet in the house I bought last year, and that only covered the great room and primary bedroom. The fools did not even carpet the closet to match the bedroom! The manger left today after a fourth visit which was just a visit for excuses. The workmanship is poor. We were the contractor's 3rd job. They scratched the walls which need to be repaired and repainted. Trim not attached to the wall, barcodes on trim(!), accordion doors no longer fit, gaps between floor boards and the wall, the driveway where they cut the boards was covered in vinyl sawdust. The installers were rude!! The entire experience was awful and I'll be paying for for the next year. These stairs are not with $6000!!! I will need to hire another custom service to finish the job. In December 2017 Empire flooring came and gave me an estimate for flooring. I did a hardwood laminate in the majority of my house with luxury tile in the kitchen and bathroom and carpet in the bedrooms, The installation cost me over $14,000. The salesman was nice. He spoke my language and promised me a good job. The people that came to do my installation we're not able to communicate with me at all as they were not able to speak my language. I tried to communicate and let them know my concerns but once again we were not able to communicate due to language barrier. Today when I explained this to the sales manager, he acted very offended that I felt that I should be able to communicate with people that I am paying to do work inside of my home. This was a one owner house and was custom built. I was very specific letting my sales person know that I would like the floor molding to be put back properly, as it matches all of the woodwork in the house. I was assured that would not be a problem as they mark the molding as it comes off. The molding was not put back on properly. Some spots are still not nailed down and come off when I vacuum. Some spots don't have molding at all as it was not replaced. There were several issues that I tried to immediately address with the office manager but I kept rudely getting the runaround. Not to mention the flooring installers did all of the cutting inside of my house. I had just had my walls painted, I had to have someone come in and wash my walls and clean my home because they got sawdust everywhere including inside of my cabinets with my dishes. Why couldn't they have made the marks and do their cutting outside or in the garage? In the end I got a phone call from a supervisor apologizing for the issues with the office manager, as they have fired her for other reasons. It's always wonderful when employees get fired in the middle of a $14,000 transaction w By that time I was exhausted arguing back-and-forth trying to get things repaired that were not done correctly. Nobody offered to come to my house to do repairs. Fast forward... Two years later I start noticing that the carpeting in my bedroom and a lower bedroom that is not used, is starting to get slack and become loose, so loose that I can grab a handful of the carpet, and the vacuum cleaner changes speeds going over it. I called the office and let them know the situation. I explained everything from the beginning. At first the lady I spoke to told me I was past my warranty date. Then I explained the trouble I had when I tried to complain in the beginning to an office manager that ended up getting fired. She understood and acknowledged the officer manager being fired, etc so she said she would see what she could do about getting it taken care of for me. Today I got a call from the very rude sales manager telling me that they will charge me $250 to come into my house and repair the carpet that wasn't installed correctly in the first place. He didn't bother to ask for photos, he didn't offer to send someone out to look at it. He basically just said too bad A little bit of backstory, I live alone, the carpet has never been shampooed, the furniture has never been moved, I don't eat in my room, I don't wear shoes in my house. There is absolutely zero reason why this carpet should be loose. The lady I spoke to tried to blame it on humidity. I'm sorry but this is my fourth home, fourth carpet installation and I have never had this situation arise in the past. I'm one person, there's not enough showers or pots of water going to create enough humidity to cause this problem. This happened because someone did not install the carpet properly in the first place and did not stretch it properly in the first place. It is a huge inconvenience for the customer to have to move all of their personal belongings to have this carpet restretch in the first place because it wasn't done right but then to ask the customer to pay $250? I will be calling the last carpet company that did my work, I will have them come in and do the repair work. I would never ever allow Empire Today in my home again. Wonderful salespeople. Very nice. Carpet options were limited, but fairly standard. I found out while comparing options that the Empire Today salespeople are "independent contractors." They pay all of their own expenses (car, mileage, phone, etc.) and only make a commission if they close a sale. They can work all week advertising the company and not bring home a paycheck. No retirement, no healthcare. The company was bought by the private equity firm H.I.G. in 2016. They closed all local locations. The business model left me with an icky feeling. It pushes the risk onto the workers, while the company makes the profits. Empire Today had over $500 million in sales last year. The prices weren't any less than the local carpet seller that has employees doing the work. We recently had a very bad experience with Empire. We were originally told it would take 1 days to put in wood floors in our living room and hallway. Thursday we moved everything into our Kitchen. The installers came out to put in the floor. When they opened the flooring they brought it was not the flooring we ordered.... The installer gets on the phone and figures out where the mistake happened and said he would be back in the morning with the correct floor. Next day Friday the installers show up and yes they do have the correct flooring and start putting in the floor... well they miscalculated and didnt bring enough material and they cannot get the remaining material until Monday but they assured us we would be complete early Monday. We have 2 foster kids, 3 dogs and 2 adults living in our house. All of the living room furniture is now in the kitchen and we have half of the floor complete in the living room. We make it though the weekend. Monday comes and they call in the morning and say that they have one job they need to finish up and then will be to our house it shouldnt be long. This was at 9am, 5pm we call to see what the heck is going on... We are told they are on there way and will be there in an hour. We had to cancel our plans for the evening so they could finish because I was not going to wait another day! We now have 3 wasted days where we were waiting around for them. They broke the base boards so now we have these cracks in the baseboard that we didnt have before. I told the installers this was not here when you came and he said oh let me fix that and he gets some filler but it honestly looks worse. I finally said its fine just go. We called to complain and were pretty much just waived off and said sorry there is nothing we can do. We paid over $3000 for this flooring I expect to get good service and to have my house left the way it was when they came. We are now going to have to replace the base board which is an extra cost I didnt expect, keep in mind this is fairly new baseboard (less than 2 years old). I would not recommend this business to anyone who expects timely, quality work. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Today my 76-year-old mother had two men come to her house to do an estimate for vinyl flooring. They engaged in hard sell tactics designed to fluster her. After 2 1/2 hours one of the men left, but the other was still in her home, and she had to call me to come to her rescue. When I got there, I met a salesman named Dan. He proceeded to try the same hard sell tactics with me. I finally had to close up his display books, interrupt him several times to get him to stop talking, and tell him that we had somewhere else we needed to be. Even then, he stood in the kitchen, trying to finish up an email. It wasn't until we got up, grabbed our things and started for the front door before he even left. in a subsequent email exchange, he lied to me several times, and then, when I called him on it, he tried to blame it on my mother. I am absolutely furious with his conduct, his outright deceit, and his attempts to intimidate my mother. I'm just glad I was there for her to call. read more

Scheduled an appointment for two weeks in advance. They canceled the appointment the day before. Made another appointment. They canceled an hour before. They offered me a $500 discount, so I made another appointment. Met the representative who gave me a reasonable estimate for doing the hallways and stairs in a small commercial building. So far, so, so. On the day of installation, I met the installers at the property. I paid them and left. Two hours later they called and said that my floors were not level enough and that they couldn't level them and that they were leaving. All of this took about two months between all the scheduling and canceling and scheduling and canceling. Anyway, having now had another company install flooring successfully, I assume the problem was that between the low price and the discount, they were to lose money. But they didn't want to tell me that. So they blamed it on the floors not being level enough, as though it was totally impossible for me to get no flooring in my property. To be fair, they did refund my payment after several weeks. But they cost me a lot of time and trouble. And it's too bad--because the price was excellent and there is plenty more flooring that I need done. read more

I'll start by saying that my floors look great. What does not look great is my molding, my dinged up walls or my Dented fridge. I have reached out to Empire several times and the resolution- use a handy man to fix my trim and they will reimburse me. What? Why is it my problem to pay someone and wait for them to reimburse me?! I didn't mess up the trim. Or ding up my fridge. The best part is- Jacqueline in customer service says she say the photos of my trim and "it doesn't look bad." If they don't fix it or offer to mail me a check to have it fixed I'll be getting ahold of the news. I know it seems extreme but we spent almost 11,000 dollars with them. Dealing with this company is what nightmares are made of. David, our salesman, did not return phone calls, texts, or emails. He did not confirm appointments. He never sent a single formal estimate or invoice. He failed to order the materials for our order (scheduled 3 weeks in advance) so there was a last-minute scramble to make it come together - at the end of the day costing me a day at work in addition to my frustration. In person, he was inappropriate (calling me "mom" even after I asked him not to), and unprofessional (cracking jokes and talking over us when we already asked him to please stop messing with us). I asked to change contact people, and they said I couldn't without starting the whole process over. They'd have to find a new salesguy to come take measurements because their sale people don't share information with each other. They also didn't have my measurements in their system. "It would start the process all over." The people on the phone are rude and incompetent. There were two courteous people I spoke with at the Portland office/Wilsonville distribution center. But even the two who tried to treat me like a human could not solve the simplest of problems. And they still used pointed language toward me for "my last minute change" - which was not a last minute change. Their team member did not schedule the correct service and did not order the correct supplies. I could not get an arrival window, despite calling three time to try to find out when it was. They called at 7:30 am the morning my carpet was being installed. They called back 5 minutes later and changed the time from morning to afternoon, even though I was guaranteed the morning weeks before. I asked to speak to a manager three times on three different calls; (1) (Cari/Kari in Wilsonville), (2) the Portland regional manager, and (3) "seriously, any manager"". Each time I was told a manager would call me back, and it has still never happened. I went with them despite the Yelp reviews because of our time frame. Their rudeness, condensation, and lack of professionalism borders on the criminal. Even if they are the only ones who can fit you in - - don't do it. Run. Run fast, run far, wait for another company to make it work for you. I recommend Simple Floors on NW Yeon - they saved the day for us. read more

Look at the rest of the reviews! If there was a "zero", Empire today would be batting 100! All I asked for was an estimate. The rep. gave me one and then when I didn't want to sign a contract, he lowered the estimate twice to tempt me. He insisted I would have to sign the contract in person so needed to sign now. I told him I would have to think about it. With this he got very pushy and belligerent and raised the bid back to the original. He said they didn't have a store, he had all the samples in his car. He was very reluctant to give me his card. He left in a huff without even a thank you or good bye. I would never use these people, ever. If you want good service and installation, go to the Floor Store on Gladstone, ask for John, you won't be sorry. No one should have to put up with the likes of Empire Today! read more

If there was a possibility to rank this company "zero," I would do it, they don't even deserve a 1-star. If possible AVOID EMPIRE AT ALL COSTS. Their products, customer service, and installation services are utterly craptastic. The installation we had 1.5 years ago from this company was a disaster, something that took almost a month of my life when I was told it would only be a couple days to do less than 1400 sq ft of both carpeting and vinyl plank flooring. Not enough carpet was ordered which delayed the start of the install, the carpet installers put in the baseboards wrong and had to re-do them after installing the carpet (which was also done sloppy, there are so many gappy spots on the floor which they didn't staple right). Even getting the installers to redo their mistake was like pulling teeth, it took so much back and forth with the company managers. The baseboards were not touched up, and anywhere there was furniture in the rooms the installers did not apply caulking on the boards. We had issues with air bubbles in the vinyl plank flooring installation they also did in our kitchen. No leveling of the floor completed whatsoever. Now the planks are peeling up and they feel soft, like an air gap is underneath them. When I called the company to finally take a look at the kitchen flooring this year, it took them weeks to come over to inspect (after a couple of last minute re-scheduling), only to have to wait 2+ more weeks and repeated calls to the office for them to tell me that they cannot repair any of the work because it wasn't their fault in the installation (despite the first inspector telling me they could likely repair it since it looked like the install was done incorrectly to begin with). If you are beyond the 1 year warranty window, you can forget this company will provide any help. I have doubts they would even help if you were within the warranty. read more

We hired Empire Today to install a tile floor in our kitchen and laundry room along with laminated in our front room. The salesman came out and sold us on it and quoted time and cost. He quoted a 1 day tile with 48 hours of not walking on the new floor. We boarded our dog expecting 2 nights and 3 days. I moved a large china hutch and refrigerator, table and chairs to other parts of the house. I moved the washer and dryer onto our front deck. The crew showed up late to start on the kitchen and laundry room tile. The first day all they got done is remove the old floor. The second day they got the laundry room tile laid and a very small part of the kitchen. The third day was a no show. I called the salesman at 10 am to find out where they were and after he checked he said they would be out but were waiting on the moulding. I told him they didn't need that as we were not using their plastic moulding. At 11 am I called the driver and was told they had sent him out on another job. No one bothered to tell us so we could have waited all day. RED FLAG #1! The fourth day of the 1 day job they came out and finished laying the tile but had to come out on the fifth day to grout. We notice a lot of bad spots just on the parts we could see without walking on the tile. I called the salesman and dispatcher to complain and told them to tear this out and do it right. They told us we had to let them finish for their instillation warranty so we did. The fifth day they came out and grouted and fixed 2 out of over 20 bad spots where the tile was laid close together and some far apart and the whole floor had some tiles high and some low. After a little research the high and low is acceptable to a certain extent except in rooms that have water used. Well kitchen and laundry room have water. All of this happened last November 2020 and now we're at the end of March 2021. Their customer service (a real joke) has not returned our calls and I've left numerous messages. They did have the 'dispatcher' come out to see the work finally in the first of February. After looking at the job he agreed with most of the short comings. Now it's been over a month and still we get ignored by the customer service. We have not bothered to seal the floor due to the fact most of it has to be torn out and repaired. I have 1 thing to say about Empire Today. They just want your money and won't back up their work. A TERRIBLE company to do business with.
