This place used to be my favorite taco place, I'm obsessed with the food. The servers have always been extremely rude but i think of it as part of the experience. It's always been known in Richmond for the mean wait staff and if they wanted to turn that around they could have years ago so I'm pretty sure it is intentional? However the most insulting thing has been watching the prices rise through out my time being a loyal customer, to the point where last night when i saw the most recent price increase i found that i and my other service industry friends can no longer afford to eat here. It is a sad sight to see, these businesses that exchange their normal people crowd for people who are willing to pay almost $5 for a taco consisting of meat and onions. Y'all, let's chat. En Su Boca is a Richmond staple. If you are between the ages 23-35, have shopped at a thrift store in the last 2 months, own or have owned a pair of doc martens and have at least one tattoo you regret, this my friend is your type of place. The atmosphere is simply just cool. The employees are a delight. They have a pretty legit happy hour as well. Their margs are to die for and them waaangs! They had top 3 best wings in Richmond. I will say their tacos aren't very good. The tortillas are usually soggy and seem like they weren't toasted at all. But really that's the only negative thing I'd have to say. They tend to be really busy, but it's never outrageous and it's always worth it. Definitely do yourself the favor and check it out! read more

We sat outside. We always love their margaritas but decided to try the skinny since it has fresh lime juice! They were great, subtle and strong tequila. Guac is also awesome and chips are thick and salty. Service was really friendly and attentive. The sun shifted while we were outside and was right in our eyes and our waitress was nice enough to notice and move our umbrella. Fried fish was aaaamazing. Living in Southern California has really altered my taco palette, however, some of my favorite Mexican restaurants are in the South. This place is not one of them. Everyone was friendly, but the service was not good. We waited for probably an hour to get our order, which was just tacos. The chips and salsa held us over. I found the chips to be too thick, but 2/3 of the salsas were pretty good. The green salsa had far too many onions, so it was difficult to enjoy it. However, the mild and hot salsas were great! As for the tacos, I don't have much to say other than they were very bland. They had a lot of meat and very little topping, which is fine, although the meat was not the best. En Su Boca is my favorite happy hour spot in RVA.Their happy hour starts from 3-6. I normally like my margarita on the rocks but their house frozen margarita is absolutely amazing!!! It is frozen perfection with the perfect balance of tequila and margarita mix. During happy hour these frosty libations are $6. They will sneak up on the steeliest of livers so beware, don't let the frozen part fool you!! The tacos are so good. My favorite is the fish taco. The lightly battered cod fish dressed with shredded cabbage/slaw mix is tangy and fresh. The tacos are $2 during happy hour, and there are happy hour highlights for even more of a discount from 5-6. Their wings are bomb.com!!! These bad boys are tossed in En Su Boca's signature buffalo sauce, which is just simply delicious. The wings are discounted to $0.50 during happy hour. Ok updating my review. Took the kids today before going to the Bow tie for a movie. Sad to say, maintenance continues to be an issue. I am including pics this time. Women's bathrooms was out of order so they were using the men's. Men's bathroom was dirty. The soap disappear read pulled off the wall and laying on the sink. A store bought soap pump was on the sink, but empty. Graffiti is still an issue. Silverware was dirty. Old food was on the menu. Service is always a solid C+ or B. I like the idea of this spot more than I liked it in actuality. It's bright, nicely decorated, has outdoor seating and plenty of parking. Tatted up staff dressed in short, tight black clothing (no homo). There were three of us, and we decided to order 10 tacos for $25 (a sampling of each except the veggie) and a guacamole appetizer. The guacamole was underwhelming. Very little taste. Of the 10 tacos, we only ate 8 of them. They also lacked flavor and were just too dry! Mind you, we're all long distance runners who can eat a lot -- I thought we'd each have three and be fighting over the last one (and then order more food) -- but we just didn't want anymore. They just weren't very good except for the fish taco, which was pretty good. I'll go back for the Boulevard Wheat beer, to revisit the fish tacos, and I also want to try the corn. Prices include tax. *** Happy Hour Only Review *** Came here with some of my fellow kickball team mates. We came on a very pleasant day and chose to dine outdoors in which we were literally 10 feet away from cars going down Boulevard. It wasn't noisy enough for us not to hear each other and the setting was pretty cool. I got 2 fish tacos ("southern" fried) and four lime crema chicken wings all part of their happy hour. I normally don't get fish tacos and I opted to get them here and I am glad I did! Not sure what makes them "southern" but it had a good flavor, was fried nicely and tasted great. The wings were good, but I didn't really taste any distinct flavors. The service was very good i.e.- drinks refilled, picked up plates, checked up on us. etc. My totall bill came out to only 6 bucks and I was full! They've gotten better on the meat they put in the tacos, I've noticed... Flavor overall is still sort of lacking, get the fish tacos. They're the best. Still hoping to find a carne asada taco close to the ones out in Cali, but hey, I'm in Virginia. I was very excited to try this new place because its within walking distance to my job. While the hostess and decor was very nice.. the food was very underwhelming. I was so disappointed. It wasnt nasty it just wasn't great either. I had the chicken burrito and chips & salsa. I could barely taste the chicken in my burrito, there wasn't much seasoning on it..and the chips were overcooked. .although it came with 3 sauces. Only one was good. I've heard so many good things & I was excited to try out En Sure Boca. Luckily we arrived before the crowd on a Friday afternoon & we're able to scoop up some happy hour deals. 6 dollar house margaritas - which were high quality - not too sweet. The appetizer bottomless chips were also very good - freshly made, coarse salt and original salsas. The habanero is indeed, hot - but the flavor is great (especially when mixed with the tomatillo). Our tacos were 2$ a piece thanks to happy hour - I loved mine. Two vegetarain options and the Sloppy Jose. All well portioned, seasoned, and presented. So I decided to give this place another shot, but En Su Boca probably won't be in my "Boca" ever again. The food is just lack-luster. Having traveled throughout Mexico and Mexico City, I possess some understanding of cuisine exemplary of the country. This place has tried to hit the nail on the head, but has ended up smashing their thumb... First of all, there is a Type-O on the Menu: - Draft Beers are referred to in Mexico [City] as "Cerveza de Barril", NOT "Berril" as the menu erroneously states. "Barril" translates from Spanish as "Barrel." This small, but poignant error really made me upset; C'mon guys... I came back recently and tried the The Pickles; we were really upset with how they turned out. May I point out that there were NO Jalepeño's! I mean c'mon, every taqueria I've been to Mexico has sliced, pickled Jalepeños on the side; our order was all carrots and onions; and not even pickled well either. I was unfortunately very disappointed with the food at this place. I saw it coming with their Yelp star ratings, but I wanted to give it a try myself. The ambiance/decor was nothing special from what I remember and the inside was somewhat small with about an equal amount of seating outside as well. The flavor of the food is what was really disappointing, even though pictures of it look really yummy. The Mexican corn was definitely yummy, I'll give them that. I would come back for the corn and maybe to try some drinks, but if you're looking for tacos, this is not the place to go. I ordered four different kinds (4 for $11) and at best, only one really wowed me. Overall, they didn't really taste fresh and had a sort of sour taste - possibly due to too much lime or vinegar or just because it wasn't cooked fresh. We were seated pretty quickly, outside on the patio facing Boulevard. It was a beautiful day and most of the other patrons were also outside. Our server was a little slow but friendly. We ended up ordering two frozen margaritas to start and they were delicious. For our entrees, my bf ordered the chicken nachos (per recommendation of a friend) and I ordered had the 4 for $11 taco deal (three chicken tacos and one steak). I asked our server to bring out a spicy salsa as well, since I love extra heat on everything. About 15 minutes passed and we got our food. I ended up with 2 chicken tacos and 2 steak tacos instead of what I asked for, but our server was missing in action and I was too hungry to wait for her to return. Overall, the food was decent. The toppings tasted fresh and the food seemed authentic. But I was really hoping for well-seasoned chicken like that you find in Mexico, and this wasn't quite it. They get an extra star because the braised chicken taco was amazing. Everything else was horrible! Yucatan Pork? Chunks of non-tender meat that is known as their "spicy" taco which was hardly spicy. Carne Asada, also bland cubes of meat. I overhear a server saying the carne asada was the worse one. She's right. I came here with about 5 others after striking out at Lunch and Supper. That place had a 2-2.5 hour wait, so we settled on En Su Boca's 1-1.5 hour wait. It ended up being about 45 minutes which wasn't bad at all, considering there is an outdoor space, albeit small, where you can hang out. We all got drinks from the bar and posted up outside. I got the house margarita, and it was pretty standard. Once we got our table, we were eager to get our food on. I ordered the burrito bowl with grilled chicken. The bowl costs $1 more than the burrito; I'm not sure why, but I hope mine came with more food because of it. Plus, I finished the entire plate! It was delicious. The chicken was well-cooked as was the rice. Too many times have I had undercooked rice at Mexican restaurants. The space inside is a little tight around the bar and the tables themselves. No wonder there is usually a long wait. Even still, the waitstaff is decent at checking in on tables and filling water. This little hole it the wall is most definitely my FAVORITE place to get queso -when I'm not eating this stuff, I'm dreaming about it. What makes it so different than any other queso I have tried is that that they put chorizo and peppers (vegetarian is optional) at the bottom of a bowl and broil the cheese til the top layer has a nice crisp to it! Not only do they have the best queso in town, but the rest of the menu is very delectable and you really get your bang for your buck - check out their happy hour for even more bang for your buck! En Su Boca is great for any day of the week, but you should go on Mondays between 5-6p when there are $1 fish tacos. Fish tacos are not my go-to tacos BUT ESB's are so tasty. My friends and I went almost every Monday for a year; we would each get between 2-5 fish tacos per person and split their guac and each walk away with a $5 tab before tips. We even had a great waitress who served us a ton of times, I believe her name is Anne! Non-fish tacos are $2/taco which is also a steal IMO. But if you go any other day of the week, their street corn, bowls, and margs are great. Their margs are strong and they have quite a few flavors to choose from. I would suggest coming here for an early(ish) dinner (rather than later) on weekends since they do get packed; it's a pretty small space. They also have heated outdoor seating! read more

All 4 tacos were spicier than what I would have liked for not adding anything extra to them, or requesting them to be. The chips were good, seemed housemade, but I wish they came with the meal.
