Had to check this place out since I've seen it posted all over social media. We made the 1.5 hour drive and the town was really cute. The Enchanted Forest was cute too with a fairy cool vibe. We got lighted flower crowns and seated under a tree. Wish I requested to be seated in an alcove booth. The place is smallish, about 11 tables in main dining room and 1 towards the front; and there was bar seating. We had reservations and were taken back immediately. The themed menu, attire of staff, and decorations met the prompt. Lord of the Rings, medieval, fairy, elves times were reflected. Do not go here if you are hungry, this place is to get the experience. We hit In N Out on our way home. The food was okay but the wait time was worse! I got hangier by the minute! Other tables seated after us seemed to get their food before us. The twins ordered the lobster bisque and they enjoyed that and could have eaten more. We ordered the Irish whiskey shrimp and prosciutto wrapped asparagus. We liked those and wanted more. We tried the fondue; the main feast. And while there was a good array of meats offered it was not enough to satisfy our appetites! My husband got the Mead flight and he seemed to enjoy that. His favorites were the lemon and cranberry. My favorite was the Apricot. I got the Mystic Mango. It was served in a nice metal goblet. It was fruity and tasty but I could have had it sweeter. All in all the meal was good; but we've had better meals for the same price point. The gift shop next door offered a free gift and I chose the earth mat! My family and I had dinner at Enchanted Forest. The restaurant was a little warm for a June in Placerville. I had a chicken crepe with pesto and my daughter had the pizza. My husband had the short ribs which he lacked flavor. The crepe and pizza were good. Overall it was descent but I don't know if I will be making the hour drive back anytime soon. read more

My husband and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary, the "wood anniversary" here on a Saturday night. We did the "full fondue experience" and had a really nice time! The entire meal took about 2 hours. The ambience is really fun/unique and the drink/food options are made to fit the theme. We highly enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a more unique/fun meal experience. We were very glad that we opted for the fondue experience based on all of the other reviews here. It included a small starter salad which was delicious. Then came a trio of cheese fondue, entree fondue broth, and finally chocolate fondue. Unlike at Melting Pot, you cannot pick different flavors/types of fondue, but the standard picks were delicious. Each part comes with a tray of dippers to use and the entree came with 4 sauces to use on the side. They setup a hotpad with your fondue pot straight on the table and you do all the cooking yourself from there. It was very interactive and highly enjoyable. The flavor on all the fondues were great, just as good as we've had at other places or the Melting Pot. We felt that the quality of the "dippers" was lacking a bit for the cheese fondue (ie: bread and some of the veggies all seemed a bit stale), but still good. We loved that the entree fondue came with pre-cooked chicken as this is usually the most scary/annoying part having to wait for chicken or pork to cook! It came out very moist anyways so definitely loved that shortcut. The chocolate fondue was by far our favorite as the variety of dippers here was amazing, way better than at Melting Pot. There were tons of different fruits, cookies, sweet breads, etc to try. The weather was lousy so it was surprisingly not busy, though to be safe we still made reservations ahead. The restaurant is small/cozy, so I would highly recommend making reservations in advance as I am not sure how many walk-ins they really take each night. They don't seem to have enough staff so there was a bit of a wait at some points. This caused us not to get water/drink refills as fast as we would have liked and at some points caused a bit of a lag. However, the wait staff were all super friendly and were definitely doing their best so no blame on them. The ambience is really where this place shines. The enchanted forest theme is obvious from the decor, the wait staff's outfits, and the drink/food menus. Even the bathroom was on theme. We LOVED the fairy crown touch that all the patrons get (complementary for all customers). It created a very romantic and fun evening for us! I would definitely recommend this place and intend to come back for another date night or special event in the future. I can't speak to the regular food, but the Fondue was great! Had been wanting to try this place for a couple years So finally made it up there yesterday as we were going to Red hawk casino...Just love the atmosphere and everything is so whimsical With all the little lights and tree branches on the ceiling and even the bar underneath looks like a mossy tree...plus waterfall tables that light up and some change colors. When We sat down the waitress, came to the table with these cute little headbands that had little flowers with lites. I really thought she was going to try to sell them to us but that's part of the Dining experience, and you get to keep them which I thought was a great touch...It was cute a couple of mothers in there with their little daughters. I know I would've loved going here at that age too. Ordered the large strawberry goat cheese salad... with added chicken And The chicken caprese crêpe that came with a side salad. The salad was so good and the chicken was excellent on it... Dressing was on the side and it was really good too. Strawberries, very fresh... Crêpe was good as we kind of shared the meals, but My only complaint would be that they need to make it more creamy inside with the pesto Mixed with smaller pieces of chicken... The part of crepe that was done right was good. The other part was hard to eat. We came as a gift from our daughter. It was incredible, for many reasons. First, I have just about every thing a person could need in the world and have asked my kids to spend time with me particularly experiences. Next, my daughter is in year one of a particularly difficult cancer battle, and through all of it, she has refused to quit anything. Her job, college, nothing. So when I looked up this place and saw the prices, I felt they were a bit high for a regular college kid to take the family out for dinner. But for her with her circumstances, I wanted to cry, because not only was it a monetary sacrifice, she found a place my wife and I knew nothing about, made reservations, and kept all of us (2 parents and 2 brothers) on time and in a great space. I don't know how I could improve the review from that but here goes. First, it is an out of place establishment and I love it for that reason alone. It doesn't belong in Placerville, it is a relatively pricey fondue restaurant that one would expect in the city. BUT I LOVE THAT! They unabashedly exist and I have to say they were hopping busy! It was an unexpected delight. I want to preface that I have had fondue at a ski in chalet in Switzerland. Literally the cows lived on the floor where the ground met the home. One story down was a cheese basement. One story up was a restaurant. That served fondue. But it only served cheese and bread along with a chocolate dessert fondue. I felt this experience was better than the one in Switzerland. Perhaps I am biased but I don't think I am. They only served bread and melted cheese, this place had a full menu and if you opted for fondue you received not only bread, but filet, chicken, shrimp, and meatballs. Overall, the execution of the food was incredible and I don't need to say much about the chocolate fondue. That is what it is- delightful. The staff were great. In fact, while we had a reservation they were running a bit late (10-15 min) and made sure we were aware and offered us options to take up the time. It actually was nice to sit down in a comfortable space and wind down from the drive. Regardless, the staff were on point, nice, and very helpful. The facility is enchanting. What can I say? They nail it with the small details that include a halo of lights that you wear and take as a reminder. The ambiance is great, and the sound is not loud. We had a wonderful time. I suppose the greatest compliment I can offer is that we will return even though it is an hour away! If you are coming up to ski or back on 50, it's worth getting reservations and making a stop. Very poor dining experience here. We made reservations for an anniversary dinner that was in the notes. They gave us a table at the bar. Service took forever and wasn't good. The food was unimpressive. The pasty had very little meat it was mostly bread and potatoes. I don't know what they are going for with the menu but it seems to be a mix of random things that don't go together. Some items are very expensive. The decorations inside are meant to be an enchanted forest but it just doesn't go. Odd place for a meal and left unsatisfied. What an amazing restaurant! We had my brother's wedding rehearsal dinner here and they were amazing. Kari and Sabrina were fantastic, they took such great care of our party of 30! The food was absolutely delicious; I didn't try any of the specialty Meads, but heard from others that they were great! The atmosphere was lovely and fun, the light up flower crowns were adorable. There was live fiddle music, and it was the perfect accompaniment, not too loud and obtrusive to conversations, just a lovely background sound. The decor is fabulous and definitely needs to be experienced first hand! I really wanted to love this place because the idea was so fun. Unfortunately the food was just a miss and the cost, even in these absurd times, was too much. I got a vegan crepe that came with a small salad. With tip, it came out to around $26. I had to spend another $13 on food at another restaurant right after just to feel full. Worse, the filling was under seasoned so I had to ask for more sage aioli just to give it flavor. That was a unique twist on aioli though. The whole reason we went there, to enjoy the experience of chocolate fondue for dessert, went out the window when we saw $5 upcharge PER PERSON for vegan fondue. When you come in, you first see the gorgeous decoration of an enchanted forest and greeted by amiable hostess. I dined for one and was seated at the bar. I immediately offered water, and I added on lemon tea. They were attentive to my drinks the whole time! I was also offered a cute lighted fairy crown. It fits the theme of the place. Food wise, I was torn between the filet mignon and the salmon - I went with the salmon and had no regrets! Guiness Glazed Salmon served on top of Swiss cheese mashed potatoes and a side of seasonal vegetables ($39). I would return, but this time with at least one other person since the fondue is meant to be shared by a minimum of 2 people. I found this unique spot in the area and came here while visiting my parents. There was no wait on a weekend night so we got a table right away. It was somewhat dark inside and there was live music (sounded like Irish music) so it felt very much like an eclectic forest. They also give you a light up fairy crown when you enter that you can take home. Everyone working here is very lively and friendly but service is a bit slow. My boyfriend and I shared the wine flight, he ordered the steak, and I got the green goddess salad. The wine was great, lots of options (2 red, 2 white, and 1 rose) and pretty large pours. As for the food, the steak was chewy and over cooked. It was also bland and lacked seasoning, but the sauce it came with helped a little. My dad also got the steak and said the same. Group of 8 at 7:00 Saturday. Had beers at the bar while table was setup then we sat down and received the lighted wreaths. That started a very festive and fun evening as our server Sierra was a blast. She added to the enjoyment with a very bubbly personality and recommendations. Two other servers (Marci & Rachelle) also chimed in as they went by, which added to the fun. We all remarked that we had never seen a staff so consistently motivated! We had 3 Shepard Pies, 4 Short Ribs, and 1 Salmon plus salads and a lobster bisque. Food was fine although one person thought the Short Ribs could have more taste. Passing through Placerville on the way to Tahoe, we just knew we had to stop at Enchanted Forest for lunch. Immediately we loved the commitment to the theme - the whole interior was decorated with fake tree bark, plants, sparkly epoxy tabletops, etc. The staff were even dressed in medieval style outfits. We were seated immediately with no reservation at a comfortable table near the front of the restaurant. We were planning on skipping drinks, but couldn't resist tasting the Apple Pie Mead - so tasty and unique! I didn't end up ordering an entire serving, but would totally get the mead flight in the future. For food, my friend and I split two of the savory crepes - the Butternut Sage Crepe and Chicken Caprese Crepe. Both were pretty good, but the Butternut Sage was the better of the two, purely because of the sauce. I did appreciate the generous amount of chicken in the Chicken Caprese Crepe though. My other friend got the Baguette Tapas and chose two Salmon, two Prosciutto. Again, both very tasty! Service was fast and friendly. We went there Valentine's Day and had a terrible meal spent $250 for very substandard meal. We ordered the lobster and steak fondue which was tasteless. The few vegetables were a total disappointment. We thought we were getting just steak and lobster but they combined it with, get this meat balls! and chunks of chicken. The service wasn't bad. I should've taken his advice and not got the fondue. I understood what the look was going for but the place was dark. Although Enchanted Forest received mixed reviews on Yelp, the owner/manager always responded so I wanted to give them a chance. Wow! So glad we did! We were greeted with LED lit flower wreaths to wear and take home...fun! There was a great 3-man Irish band playing fun old Irish tunes and pub songs. I liked their volume...they were right close to us but it was not too loud. The place is just lovely with a huge faux tree in the center. Private-ish booths lined one of the back walls. Up front in the restaurant, there is 1 table right at the window. Otherwise, there a high-top deuces along the opposite side of the bar. My point is, it is different up front than in the back dining room. Not bad, either way, but the dining room has the tree! The food was fabulous. I loved their signature Swiss cheese mashed potatoes. I had a corned beef pasty. I loved the Irish menu...I was not expecting that. Bacon wrapped scallops were just as you would want and I loved the roasted beet caprese - great idea! We ordered the Boeger cabernet sauvignon. It was served in a carafe so we thought we had not explained to our server that we wanted a BOTTLE. He quickley explained that they get the Boeger wine in mini-casks right from the winery...so it was being decanted for the first time right then! He also mentioned the Boeger's had just finished dinner at the bar! Super cool. On Easter Sunday, April 9th, 2023..... it just happened to be my mother-in-law's birthday. The family decided to give her the whole dining experience by visiting here. We were taken care of by Buffy H. whom I want to mention was extremely patient and helpful. Shout out to Buffy! For us personally, we ordered 1 Mead Flight 1 Cheese Fondue 1 Chocolate Fondue Let's start with ambiance... For a dining experience, it's exceptional. It makes the person being celebrated feel like they are the honored guest. Even small little gifts were provided by the restaurant. For the food. . . . . Eh. I wish I could say I loved it. The cheese Fondue was a disappointment for us personally because we didn't realize till afterward that mead is added to the cheese, and it makes it sweet. We want savory, melty, cheesy. Not sweet, thick cheese that was hard to even dip! For the Chocolate..... my only complaint was that it seemed like sea salt was added as a garnish, and that changed the flavor profile completely. I want chocolate, NOT salted chocolate. This restaurant tries to be accommodating, and although I recognize that, for your price point I would like to see more vegetarian / vegan options and more mention of what is used in the dishes, even down to the sea salt add-in. On a whim, we decided to try Enchanted Forrest on a trip to Placerville on New Year's Eve. They kindly sat us even though we did not have a reservation. All the staff were dressed as forrest fairies. The staff was adorable and all very lovely. Our server Miles was very attentive, a really cool person and he was informative and helped us navigate the delicious fondu process. They had a fixed price menus for NYE (not sure what the regular menus is like) and it was reasonably priced for two people on a holiday evening. The food was delicious. The experience was engaging, as the entire restaurant (even the bathroom) engulfs you in a magical forrest. The maple syrup ginger mead was fantastic! Great wine selection in addition to the mead. Everything here was magical. The food was amazing the ambiance so unbelievably magical, the waitstaff all wore fairy wings and were friendly and professional. There were families as well as couples on dates and the fondue, while I didn't get to indulge this trip, looked really good and I'll have to remember to reserve it beforehand next time. SITREP Whether you're a lost (Star Wars ANDOR) fanboy looking to satisfy a fomenting thirst for tasty mead OR a (Wakandan) pirate hungry for sexy booty along a glowing purple Vibranium river, Enchanted Forest could be worth stopping in. But buckle up: choppy waters ahead.... FOOD This is where restaurant does well: food is DELICIOUS, albeit pricy. I paid for a Baked Briephilo appetizer ($17), and my Sheperd's Lamb Pie ($26). Add in my $10 cider, JUST MYSELF I didn't get out of there for less than $70. [I understand if a $10 fast food stop may be looking good right now instead.] BAKED BRIEPHILO. Great presentation with mini-sourdough shaped croutons and four (4) different kinds of jams, both sweet & savory (one a very pleasant spicy chutney and much appreciated). Brie was creamy and enjoyable with its own philo-crust shell. LAMB PASTY PIE. For $26, portion seemed small - notably pasty & mashed potatoes - whereas salad seemed to be more "real-estate"-dominant on plate. Yet could be just my quibble. But I noticed one other tablemate, and a 3rd at our adjacent table, BOTH had bigger pasties and more mash (I make a point to notice these things). So it could just be "luck of the draw" (to use the obvious frontier-related euphemism). This was on track to be a 3.5 review, but rounded up to 4.0 on basis of a good eating experience. THAT, and sweet illuminated Fairy-Garlands. ("What pray tell are we talking about?" Look at my picts and notice our heads.) OTHER IMPORTANT DEETS: TIME. As in, allow plenty of time for this entire endeavor - ordering & paying for drinks at bar; seating; ordering food; waiting for food; concluding receipted payments. We noticed right up front when we ordered our drinks AT bar (moment we walked in), it actually was not hard to get two (2) drinks - a Blueberry Mead and a Nectarine Cider. Problem became paying - CASH, then & there - before we dived deeper into dining room to find our party of 10 people. Yet with 3 staff running around behind bar, it still became an 11-minute endeavor, with suddenly staff-*priority* given over to verifying & paying of 5 different tables' receipts, taking a call from another employee out in field apparently in process of buying cream/dairy for restaurant (but fading into minutes of personal gossip), then suddenly taking in some MORE orders for more tables to trade in with kitchen. Pro-Tip. "Can you take care of this so we can move?" - customers with CASH, in hand, to pay for 2 drinks already dispensed, wanting to join their party in dining-room, THAT takes priority - not relegated to an 11-min queue. Either take cash or tell us to sit down - DON'T IGNORE US (we can settle up after you're done prioritizing your tallying of receipts of customers who are NOT immediately standing in front of you, don't leave us hanging with "This will only take a min", "Only a min more", yada yada, 11 mins later...). PARKING. Okay, on a Sat mid aft, PARKING SUCKS - know this up front: restaurant is located on main historic drag through Old Placerville and on a busy Saturday in middle of a historic *frontier-retelling*-zone that includes citizens in frontier costumes from times of Gold-Miners & 49ers (1849ers, NOT football team), so you're not going to easily find street-parking on 2-way street with congregating tourists a half mile either direction. We actually had to go further up, way past Round-Table (mid-way point of our spot) before we could even work our way back down to Enchanted Forest. It just IS what it IS - NOT a factor into this restaurant's rating. But take a moment to look for nearby parking lots or parking garages ahead of time and save yourself the headaches on the ground. THE LOWDOWN Good Food & Charming Atmosphere. Would I go back? On fence. Depends. But probably not? Here's what algorithm in my head tells me: If Just Me. I'm not raring to go through hassle again as an individual, when you weigh in difficult parking, problematic service, and (on balance) overall priciness of food (tourist-trap pricing, let's be honest - we are paying for fairy-experience). As a mere transient, I'd rather hit a $10 drive-thru over any $70 sit-down next time thru (or just avoid Placerville altogether and wait till I get to Sacramento for both car & human refueling). If Others With You. As a meet-up where different friends/families are coming from 2 or more different directions, especially kids - or fellow believers in *whimsy* - well, this changes things completely and merits a definite stop for them. Just know the costs up front so you don't get *Sticker-Shock*. You may want to check for kid's priced items (I did not - spending $26 on a pasty per kid would add up fast). Everything about this restaurant is amazing! The ambience, decor, & music make it an intimate & magical experience. The food is FANTASTIC! Presentation very professional. The staff are friendly, helpful, cheerful & hard working. We held a rehearsal dinner here with 33 in our party and they handled it without a hitch. I'm so pleased! Prices are quite reasonable as well, and the menu is unique & varied. Something for everyone. My friend and I share a birthday and planned on eating at this cool looking little gem. We were super excited even got there a few minutes early before our reservation.. We had a reservation at 7:00 pm and were later on sat 15-20 min after our scheduled reservation. I ordered an adult beverage and my friend ordered a soda.. how long would you expect to get a drink from this place?! It took way over 30 min to get both of our drinks. I have been in the serving industry for years and this service was repulsive! We ordered the food and it took way over a half hour to even get our food that we ordered. I had to ask our server if we could get an eta on when we were going to get our food. Everyone around us was getting served but us. This was a huge bummer because I used to hear such good things about this place. I had ordered the fillet mignon ordered it med well.. I got it well done..... that's fine but really you guys don't even know how to input orders correctly but the final product isn't what you ordered! I was way to hungry to send it back because I was afraid that it would take another hour for me to get my food back. Our server seemed over worked and so over being at this place. I came all the way from San Francisco to dine at this place. Our bill wasn't to bad but still service was horrible. If you want food here I dont recommend. If you just want drinks I highly recommend but don't expect good service. I will not be back! People don't waste your time at this place! read more

I'm pretty sure the broth used in the hot pot to cook the meat is just water with a couple baby carrots and celery thrown in. The meats are unseasoned and bland. The sauces are basic bbq, teriyaki, bourbon (bbq), and garlic Parmesan (the only interesting one). The chocolate "fondue" is literally just microwaved semi-sweet chocolate chips. Ours was still lumpy. You get a couple sliced strawberries, bananas, Oreos, and a couple other things straight from a grocery store. You can do better at home for so much cheaper. If you go, just sit at the bar to enjoy the vibes and order the mead flight. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location is beautiful. Such a cute little experience. A little disappointed when I called I asked for a reservation for the intimate table for two as we were celebrating our 22nd anniversary what we got was seating close to bar which wasn't very intimate. But we didn't let it ruin our celebration. We enjoyed the food and the kumbucha flights. Would have giving 5 stars if seating was right. Our waitress was ok she wasn't very talkative just wanted to get her job done so she had no idea we were celebrating our anniversary. read more

I came here to have dinner to celebrate my birthday. It was a long drive from Roseville to Placerville. Based on the pictures and reviews I'd seen online I was excited to eat here and see how magical it looked inside. I really wanted to love this place! I'm into whimsical and magical! But I was disappointed. To sit at one of the tables that was surrounded by lights and flowers we had to have a party of 4, well damn there was just the 2 of us. We were seated at a little table in a corner. It took a long time for someone to approach us and take our order and even longer for our order to be served. After a 20 minute wait our food came and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. The food was subpar for the price. We won't be coming back here to eat. Sadly this restaurant just wasn't worth the hype, the money or the drive out. read more

We had a reservation for 3:45 on a Saturday afternoon post Apple Hill shenanigans. Unfortunately their internet had been down all day, so the staff was a little out of sorts. We were seated about 10 minutes after we arrived, and weren't greeted by our waitress for about another 15 minutes. They forgot to bring us napkins and silverware, and later looked at us funny when we asked for some. There were 4 of us, and we decided on a 2 person portion of cheese fondue, and each ordered an entree. We had 2 of their award winning pies, 1 filet of beef, and 1 shepherd's pastie pie. The fondue sauce was delicious, but the dipping items were so so. The veggies seemed straight out of the bag (I had to pick off some brown parts on my broccoli). It also came with cubed sourdough, raw baby carrots, cauliflower, 4 pretzel sticks, celery, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Our entrees came shortly after so we ended up not finishing the veggies or bread. The pastry on the pasties were so delicious. The fillings were fine, but it was all about the crust. It came with mashed potatoes (they were lukewarm) and a salad. We had a flight of mead, and none of us particularly enjoyed any of the flavors, haha! Every patron receives a light up flower crown upon seating, which is genius marketing, because then you see all of their customers wandering around afterwards. They ended up processing our payment manually, it wasn't too big of an issue. read more
