So happy there's a bakery that friends and I can enjoy together! This time we experienced a beautiful chocolate flourless cake with raspberry jam and fresh raspberries. It was great. The chocolate taste was rich and decadent while the jam on top was sweet but not cloyingly sweet. The fresh raspberries on top were not only a pretty decoration but each raspberry was perfect. We also tasted the cannele that were perfectly made with a hint of orange and a center that is not dry but moist and very enjoyable. We also tasted a strawberry and cream filled cream puff topped with chocolate. So light, fresh and tasty. Highly recommend this bakery to everyone. read more

I'm perpetually on the hunt for good quality GF food, like the kind that doesn't sacrifice flavor and texture and this place is it. The bakery was smaller than I expected and tucked away in a little shopping center. But it was easy to find parking on the main drag. Great and friendly service. We got a variety of things: pizza dough, breakfast sandwich, quiche, cinnamon bun, peach tart. Everything we have had thus far was exceptionally delicious. Highly recommend this place. I myself am not gluten free, however my girlfriend is. It is really hard to find some gluten free options around el dorado county, not only does this place carry phenomenal gluten free options that taste just like if it were not gluten free if not better. Their food is all natural and whole, nothing processed. On top of the great food, the owner is an extremely nice person, and easy to talk to. He gave us a complimentary macaroon which are delicious. This is an amazing bakery. Not only gluten free but seed oil free as well. Prices were also extremely low in comparison to other gluten free options. I have a gluten allergy and feel unexcited to eat 90% of the time as I have very limited options. I was visiting Placerville and wandered in here and was shocked by so many options!! I ordered the lemon pound cake, macarons, pistachio cannoli, and a scone. I was given 3 pastries for free as-well!! Everything was AMAZING. Soft, not grainy, moist, etc. I highly recommend. I was lucky to try both a morning tea tasting earlier this year and take home a couple of extra treats from the bakery afterwards. The high tea event was well organized and hosted in a nice tasting room across from the bakery. The food and service were great. The bakery itself was easy to find afterwards and they provided prompt service inside. The selection had dwindled a bit by the time I popped in, which was towards late morning/noontime on a Sunday, but there were still several varieties to choose from. Everything I tried, both savory and sweet, were some of the best gluten free treats I've had, and I've been gluten free for about seven years now. The owner/pastry chef was present and shared some background on his process and overall was nice to talk to. He has struck a delicious balance between flavor, texture, and sweetness. The savory goods including focaccia and scones were not dry, crumbly, or grainy. The sweet pastries had pleasant flavors and textures, which included opera cake, entremet, petit four, and tart. It was fun trying these different gluten free items and it felt like I was spoiled with all of the options. I highly recommend making the drive to check out this shop. read more

Do not go to this bakery if you have a dairy allergy. We recently moved to the area and heard good things about this place. We came in and bought items that were supposedly dairy free for my son who has a gluten sensitivity and serious dairy allergy. Long story short, my son ended up in the hospital with a 104 degree fever. We later found out from my sister in law that the baker was using a brand of margarine that contained dairy for the first several months after his bakery opened (and didn't even apologize for it). Supposedly he's using an actual dairy free margarine now, but I would not trust him considering he didn't even read the label on a product that he used for many months. Who knows how many other people were negatively affected by this. I wouldn't even trust his products to be gluten free at this point. I hate writing negative reviews, but I would hate for anyone else to have this experience, especially with their child. read more

We are up here visiting my partner's parents for the holidays, and they let us know about this place that might be good for my newfound gluten insensitivity. One of the biggest things I miss from having to give up gluten is having a really good sandwich. Well -- Flourless just made me a very happy man. Their croque monsieur not only had an incredible flavor (that mustard was bomb), but the bread it was on was perfectly crispy and chewy in all the right ways. Flourless just opened on main-street and I couldn't be happier! I love to see businesses introducing inclusive food options for those with allergies or specific diets. I got a lemon lavender scone and it was lovely! With small bits of lavender and lemon inside, the scone was not dry as you'd expect. It had a soft and subtle taste of both the lavender and lemon with perfect brown edges. Everything I 've had was 5+ stars delicious! I had the little rummy cakes, the chocolate raspberry cake slices (vegan!), the puff pastry wrapped brie with pesto and the eclairs. For my birthday we did a pizza night with Flourless! It was amazing! Just look at the thick crust on this gluten free pizza!
