Went on a hike on our trip to California and stumbled upon this coffee shop. The staff is very knowledgeable in the surrounding area if you're interested in going kayaking or hiking. All the food that they have there is made fresh to order the morning of and runs out very quickly because it is a local spot. I would highly recommend getting a slice of pie and one of their empanadas that are made fresh. They have different coffees that is comparable to Starbucks, but I would say is cheaper and a large larger portion. The inside is a market that has different local goods made by the locals in the area as well as indoor and outdoor seating near the river. It's a very cute mom and pop shop that gives you a feel of the local area, I would highly recommend going inside and taking a look and talking to the staff there! read more

I've been going to this place for years, and so there are aspects of it that I like such as the location. However, the below are things that could be improved. 1) don't order coffee after about 9 AM because it tends to taste old, and whatever you do never order coffee after 11 AM 2) the quality of the pastries is dramatically impacted by who the baker is that day, which can vary from day-to-day, week-to-week, or even month-to-month. I learned that I cannot trust that anything will be made the same way when I visit, which is a huge negative. 3) hours: they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and for the other days of the week they close in the early afternoon 4) pastries selection: I never know what they are actually going to have until I get there 5) at least half of the experience of going to a cafe or bakery is how we are treated. Over the years there have been really positive and happy employees, and then there are a few who always seem to have a negative way of saying things. That is another consistency issue. I still go there, but I've expanded my options to places in Placerville, Coloma... due to the above issues. If you are a tourist and you looking for a nice place for breakfast and it is after 7 AM, try Placerville downtime: Buttercup has good pies and studdles... Most places open at 8 AM. Placerville downtime is something out of a different era. Or, try Nugget Supermarket in El Dorado Hills which is by the highway 50 freeway. Their bakery is excellent. They have good sandwiches, pizza, and sushi. And the related shopping area has a wide selection of places to eat lunch or dinner. It is a really nice area. read more

Nice little place that red pudding and I have some lunch menu but not a lot. They close at 1:30 PM in the winter, but they have a seating area outside and inside. And they have games and service is good. Inside for you to play and I have a big seating area. read more

We picked up a strawberry rhubarb pie from them a the farmer's market in Lincoln last Sunday. OMG! My side could've of eaten in one sitting. The crust was perfectly thin with a good chew. The filling was bright and tangy. Now the only problem is they are too far away to try all the rest of their scrumptious flavors. We will obviously stop in if we find ourselves in the area again. read more

I am lucky to have this bakery/coffee shop close, so I visit a couple of times per month. Service is friendly, quick, and efficient every time. So many beautiful and well-prepared baked goods (both sweet and savory) available. For a special occasion or a chocolate craving, the flourless chocolate cake is the decadent answer. The atmosphere is comfortable, unhurried, and welcoming with both indoor and outdoor seating to accommodate any weather. A favorite place for locals and tourists alike. read more

Purchased some beautiful hand thrown ceramic bowls . They sell really cute hand crafted shoulder bags all at reasonable prices. I was disappointed with my latte sadly . The flavor was not there . We had the pleasure of working with teal for our wedding cake. We did a tasting a few months prior and we picked a few flavors and we were absolutely amazed. Every single cupcake we tried was outstanding. I've worked at several bakeries in Sacramento and they don't compare to the cakes we tasted. The pricing on the cake was incredible and very affordable, especially given the quality and care that was put into it. Everyone at our wedding said it was the best cake they've had. Delicious quiche. Fluffy egg mixture with perfectly melted Swiss, and ham. However, if you want a special treat, try the brunch pasty. Flaky crust with just the perfect amount of everything you'd expect on a brunch plate...potatoes, sausage, cheese. Order a Mexican mocha drink and bam! Your taste buds will love you! read more

Cute place and friendly workers. However, the coffee was terrible. Tried the ice coffee and americano and everything was off. Super watery and bad choice on the espresso used. The pasties looked beautiful, but were soggy. Wouldn't recommend or go back. read more

We had our son's rehearsal dinner here on the patio for 24 people and it was wonderful. We had the onion puff pastry and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers and everybody raved about them. Dinner was the dry rubbed tri-tip which was cooked to perfection, wild rice pilaf, asparagus, spinach salad and a delicious rosemary bread. There was plenty of food and we were able to bring the leftovers home. The desserts were also outstanding! The price was quite affordable and the service was top-notch. I will definitely use Sierra Rizing again for any future catering needs. read more

Was pleasantly surprised to see two vegan options. However when I tried to order the vegan veggie burger the woman behind the counter at first didn't even know what I was talking about. Then asked me what kind of cheese I wanted on it. Ok fine they don't get people ordering that very much. Then when it was brought out I took a bite and a long ribbon of cheese was visible. I picked the burger apart and there was cheese literally cooked into the burger that they are trying to pass off as vegan. Thank god someone with a severe dairy allergy didn't try to eat this but who knows if they continue on serving this and being misleading. They showed me a box they have that says vegan on it but I think they mix their vegetarian and vegan burgers together as this brand, if bought in bulk, mixes them (see photo). They kept trying to argue with me that the globs of gooey cheese were carrots or onions like I don't know what cheese looks like. It's nice for places to put an effort for inclusive options...but only if those options are what you say they are. Really sketchy and misleading, and straight up illegal and dangerous in terms of food safety and labeling. I will be reporting this if not corrected. read more

This is my favorite place to go for their angus cheese burger & cold brew. I prefer to sit outside & sometimes recieve a cool breeze off the American River. They also serve frittatas, quiche etc. Everything is made fresh. Goodies oh yes! Got a Carmel toffee bar for later. Can hardly wait..Family & furbaby friendly! I just wish they were open just a tad later though. Inside they have a selection of artisan made items as well. I just always enjoy myself here! read more

Teal generously donated to our Soroptimist International Placerville's 2025 Chocolate Affair. Not only did she provide fresh baked bread for the sit-down dinner for 120 attendees, she also donated a delicious flourless chocolate torte and a Jack Daniels Pecan pie for our dessert auction. This is a cute little place for breakfast. Lots of parking as they are in a little shopping center. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a clean bathroom. They have different coffees and teas along with juices in the self serve fridge. They also have a lot of pastries and quick grab and go items for breakfast. I ordered the breakfast sandwich. The sandwiches come with egg and cheese (no cheese for me) but you can add different veggies to the scrambled eggs. Each additional item is 70 cents, but they had a good selection of items to add. I did tomatoes, mushrooms and onions. Comes on wheat toast. My husband had the eggs and bacon with wheat toast. We also added some extra veggies to his eggs as well. He said the bacon was delicious! We were fortunate to meet the team at a Roadster Roundup event at the gold discovery museum as they were selected by the club to cater the lunch event due to their reputation for quality. Great for us...around 135 of us. The pulled pork sandwiches and rolls were well prepared, hot and tasted homemade (unlike generic catering). Potato and pasta salads, um...YUM! Also, tasted and looked homemade, also not generic and slopped together like others do. Cold iced tea and lemonade as well as a selection of chips. The portions were great, ladies were friendly and helpful and so welcoming. All tough to do for a large crowd and get everyone fed fresh food with a smile and great quality. And they walked around after lunch to serve a variety of killer cookies. I'd highly recommend...great real tastes served by great, real people. read more

Humor is important during these times, as well as providing great quality food and service. Sierra Rizing is such a spot to wet your whistle with cold and hot drink choices. The coffee is a great brew with bags of beans available to take back to your campground if staying in the several parks nearby. As you can see by the photos, there are sweet and savory food choices which I tried two. The Frittata was excellent with a light and fluffy texture and perfect herbs selected. Frittatas can be known to get too dense and dry, and this far beyond reached my expectations-Yummy! The Bear claws were also delish with a consistent almond filling and perfect light crust. Outdoor seating is available on their roomy patio. Mornings require a coat or blanket to enjoy your morsels. Highly recommend SR and so glad they are making due during these times. We had a pasta bar and an assortment of the most delicious homemade pies for our son's rehearsal dinner. Our guests were amazed at the quality of the food! My Husband I got Married in Coloma, CA. After searching for bakeries to cater our wedding we came across a local cafe in the Coloma area. When meeting Teal (the owner) for our cupcake tasting she provided a very professional and informative meet and great. Not only were the cupcakes delicious, she introduced us to the flourless chocolate cake...AMAZING. A few days before the wedding we last minute decided we wanted figs from our tree on our smeared cake, she also added her own touch with the fig leafs. As you can see from the photos she did such a great job! The day of the wedding we set aside a desert table with our preferred cupcake tiers and a few decorations. Teal came the morning of the wedding and efficiently decorated and set up the desert table as shown in photos. She did a wonderful job and we were so happy with how everything turned out! We would definitely recommend Teal and her delicious deserts to anyone!! Next time we are in the Coloma area we will be stopping in for a slice flourless chocolate cake and cupcakes! The drip coffee is on point, and my relative loves the latte. Pastries, cakes and food are great. I used to get the Caprese but don't think it's on the menu any longer. Some things come and go. Apple fritters are brought in but a staple in my diet. Chocolate croissants are my next go-to. They have other offerings like chilled sodas, and the Knick-knacks are always cool. When it was fully open it was a great place to hang around, you can still access the back room and restroom through an outside door. Outside patio is nice, but heaters during the winter mornings would be a nice addition. I'm an all day coffee drinker, and long for longer hours but that's a pipe dream out here. Service can get pretty slow for long groups and there are problems with certain ingredients but I'm a stickler about my drinks, so I just stick to the coffee. read more

We stopped here on way to Marshall state park, and were blown away by just about everything. Frittatas were perfect, and the Elderberry and Raspberry croissant was divine. We also shared a mouth watering meat pie and had a solid but nothing special biscuits and gravy. This is a gem. There are very few cafes that can compete with them imho. read more

Honestly this place should be ashamed of what they do. We ordered two egg and cheese croissants and they forgot to put anything other than some microwaved egg onto one of them. For over $10 thats just dirty. Coffee was no good either, and to top it off the staff was surly and unpleasant. I didnt want to leave this review but come on.... What a fun little place for bunch! I got the lotus scramble which came with scrambled eggs with veggies, potatoes and a wheat toast. Also got the Apple turnover which was delicious.
