After reading the reviews I was very excited to bring my sewing machine here to get fixed. When I dropped it off, on Friday, I was told they would get to it the next day. As the end of the next day approached I called to check in & was told they would get to it Tuesday. Tuesday morning I had a message that they needed the pedal. Thankfully I grabbed the pedal & the power cord because when I got there it turned out they needed the power cord too. Friday came & I called to check in again, they've had the machine for a week. I was told I could pick it up Saturday anytime. I picked up my machine & happily paid the $49 to have the timing adjusted. Got home & half way between my first project the machine is still making a noise and shredding the thread. I'm not sure if they adjusted the timing or not, all I know is it took much longer than promised and I'm out $49 for a problem that wasn't fixed. I can't say I would recommend them for sewing machine repair. read more

Last year the service was exceptionally quick and efficient, this year a nightmare. I brought in an upright and a stick vac, clearly explained that the former had a hole in the hose and the later needed a new battery. A week and a half later, they have not returned one single phone call, I have an upright returned with the wrong hose replaced and the stick vac is still there. They claimed dyson was back ordered (I found it on amazon with free prime shipping) and when I called today was told that I'd have to call dyson myself to get a new battery. When I explained that they told me they were calling ups the prior day to check on the shipped battery - then he says oh, yeh, we can fix it for $80. Yep! Well that's what I thought you were doing this past week and a half since I told you to go ahead with that and the quoted price a week ago!!!! Supposedly it will be ready today and they will replace the hose free of charge. Disorganized and unprofessional. read more

ONE Star? Here's why: First impressions were based on not much at stake. Friendly attitude however is what they USE on you to act like your friends. I brought in an old hoover to see what was wrong and they said they would take a look at it. It worked okay but I thought it could work better. When I came back I had an $80 bill! I was shocked since I never told them to fix anything nor did I approve spending $80. So it runs really well after being overhauled (but I never would have done it if I had not been railroaded, I would have tossed it out.) So it makes this plastic vibration noise when I turn it off. I keep forgetting to take it down because it is really low on the list and on the phone I had asked what it could be and the answer was bring it down any time, whenever you want. We'll look at it and fix it free.No mention of any warrantees ever. Today I brought it down and I got the third degree. They wanted to write it up and check it in. When I asked about the charging me to look at it the answer was of course since it has been more than 90 days. I was miffed! They were going to pull the same crap. They say we will look at it and then they fix it without approval and either you pay or lose your machine. I am sure that is where their used machines come from. (Creepy thought that all those machines arrived there that way.) So I said NO and left mad. Funny thing is in the days when they started they would have looked it over but no, not now. They are in practiced fleece you mode. Their competitor up by Sprouts is gone now too; old story and you know the plot. So here's the best part. When I got home the machine is lying on it's side and I spun the roller with my fingers and it made the noise. I see the likely problem and I sprayed the spots with dry silicone. Noise gone and the roller works better than new. Those con men could have done that too and kept a customer but they choose to try and shake me down again and lost a customer who pays attention and remembers. I fixed my machine myself and confirmed what I thought happened the last time. I got screwed over and they were going to pull that scam again. Go anywhere else. They deserve to go out of business with these lousy business practices PS: I thought my earlier friendly review was being appended so you could read the prior review. It was nice and 5 stars. I just wanted to say that Salvador saved my life by saving my sewing machine! I honestly thought it was the end of the road for my ancient Kenmore but I happened to be driving by and saw his store and thought why not... Not only was he knowledgeable and so very kind but he understood my sense of urgency along with the fact that I couldn't afford to buy a new machine and I was desperate! Within 48 hours I had my machine back and oiled and repaired and looking and running like new for just a few dollars. I was totally shocked and so very grateful! I called for an estimate on repairing my vacuum cleaner and it was half the cost of what another business quoted me for the repair. When I went to drop it off I noticed how neat, clean and organized the shop was. The man that helped me, Salvador, said he could fix my vacuum while I wait. He was courteous and the cost was very reasonable. They even sell used vacuum cleaners for very reasonable prices. I'm giving them 2 stars because my Dad had his vacuum fixed here and they did a good job (although it was $170 for a new motor on his vacuum) I'm writing this because of my recent experience. I brought in my roomba to fix a problem that should have been solved by taking it apart and cleaning the sensors. I dropped off the roomba and was promised a call later that day, no call. A few days later I called them and was promised a call later that day, no call. I called again the next day and was told my roomba was ready, but he would call me back in 30 minutes once it was charged and tested, no call. So I called again and told him I was in Encinitas and could I pick it up now if it was ready, and he said it was. I went to pick it up and he told me to just take it since he didn't have a chance to test it, and I could pay later, I told him I didn't feel good about that because I would forget and feel guilty. So he asked for $20, which I gave. I went home and tested it and it was the exact same. So I watched a YouTube video about how to fix it and an hour later opened up the whole thing and cleaned the censors myself. When I opened it up a whole mess of dirt and hair fell out of the insides, I know there is no way he actually opened it up and cleaned it or he would have removed at least the worst of the dirt. This guy is dishonest and I'm irritated I spent my time chasing him down. To his credit when I called to complain he denied not even opening it but did offer my money back. Btw I fixed it read more

Just had my trustworthy Oreck vacuum die on me after 10 years of use, and the Oreck Customer Service department referred me to Encinitas Vacuum. After getting the dismal news that a repair would cost more than a new vacuum, Salvador explained my options, reviewed new vacuum cleaners, and offered a good discount for me to turn in my old broken vacuum and buy a new one. Fantastic! I have a Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 machine that has been giving me problems since the day I bought it with the automatic tension/bobbin. After hours and hours of sewing aggravation I decided to finally take it in for repair. Will definitely be using Encinitas Sewing and Vacuum again! I called Vac plus (where I bought my $700.00 Sebo vacuum) because I had a clog and it would not pick up hardly anything. I had just just serviced it with them a year b 4 for $125.00 and thought they would offer to get the clog out. They did not! They wanted $18.00 to $38.00 to as they said "We will take another vacuum and "vacuum" it out." I was NOT happy so I called Encinitas sewing and vacuum and he said they would not charge anything. He had the clog out in literally 2 minutes and showed me how to do it myself. We had never even known how to open it up like that! He gave me a a new bag as well (sebo bags r very expensive) he would not take anything for it so I gave him $5.00. I felt like giving him more but that was all I had in cash. What a caring man Salvador is. From now on this is our new store and I will be telling all my friends how great the service is. He even walked me out and carried the vacuum! read more

Salvador is very helpful and knowledgeable. He first put on a new belt for my 20 year old hoover upright but once I got it home I realized it was now turning but there was no suction. I went back the next day and asked Salvador what vacuums were best and he said Sebo and Riccar. I bought the Sebo Automatic X which is fairly light weight and comes with a 7 year warranty. I love it! I took in my old Panasonic vacuum that had broken the belt on the wheel thingy (ya, I'm very good mechanically...) and he replaced it and also gave it a tune up, cleaning it thoroughly. On a Monday I took my daughters Singer sewing machine in to have the thread tensioner for the needle replaced as it was broken. When I left the machine I was told it should be ready by the end of the week. I went in ten days later and was told the part will be in later that day so I would be able to pick it up the next day. I could not get in until a week later and was told that they had been sent the wrong part (I suspect that the wrong part was ordered). I was told that I would be called when the Machine was ready to be picked up. After another week I went to the store and was told that they had again bieen sent the wrong part. I waited for a call that the machine had been repaired and went back to the store after a total of eight weeks to be told the part was in and it will be fitted today. 'three days later I got the first call from the store that the machine was ready. I am totally dissatisfied with the service and lack of communication from this company. This was something that I could have done myself but I have been busy with other things. I have a carpet shampooer that requires parts but I will not take it to this store. read more

I visited Encinitas Sewing and Vac last weekend. I've been looking for a replacement for my aging Oreck vacuum and like to actually see and demo appliances like this before I buy. The day I decided to go I had actually gotten a flier from the Oreck factory for a great deal on one of their models that I was interested in. On a whim I went to Encinitas Sew and Vac and was pleasantly surprised that they had this model in stock (as well as many other vacuums!). Salvador had one set up for me to try. I explained to him the offer I got from Oreck in the mail. Without hesitation he matched the price and even worked out a deal on a combination with a handheld vac (better than the one offered by Oreck for just a little more money). He even threw in the first set of replacement bags for BOTH vacuums for free. How could I say no. Salvador assembled the new-in-box vacuum and helped bring it out to my car while I carried the box for the handheld. I have two cats and have always had a problem with little bits of litter spread all around the carpeting. The carpet is kind of nubbly and the litter would get ground in. My previous two vacuums never could pick it up. I was resigned to having to pay a lot for a better vacuum, like a Dyson, but then saw this place and stopped in on the spur of the moment. I told Sal my problem and he immediately pulled out a Riccar vacuum that he said had a lot of suction and would do the job. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the price was less than $300! It did the job and more. I could even hear it suctioning up the little pieces of litter. When I was done vacuuming and walked around barefoot, I didn't step on one single piece of litter, and it fluffed up the carpet so it looked great. I know it's weird to be this happy about a vacuum, but I am. Sal was a true gentleman, was able to help three customers at the same time, and I totally trust him and his advice.
