IF YOU WANT AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND YOUR ITEM NOT TO BE FIXED MONTHS LATER AND FOR THEM TO REMOVE PARTS AND LOSE THEM (WHICH IS CONSIDERED STEALING) THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!!!! This was seriously WORSE EXPERIENCE I have ever had with a repair shop. I sent in a sewing machine to be repaired, I told them is was urgent and needed it asap and they said they could have it done in a week. The owner consistently lied to me the entire process and yelled at me. I checked in often because this was urgent and the sewing machine was for my job. Every time I was given a LIE, whether it be it will be ready tomorrow or we are waiting on yet another part. Every single call I was given another false ETA or another excuse why they weren't doing anything. It took me +2 months for me to finally give up on them. They LIED every time I called saying 'we will call you back' with more info. I never received a call from them the months I insistently called them. In the end my sewing machine was never fixed, and more parts missing from the machine that weren't missing when I put it in for the repair. Nothing was ever fixed from when I put it in. THE OWNER IS A LIAR AND WILL MAKE UP THINGS TO HIDE THE FACT HE HAS LIED TO YOU AND DONE NOTHING TO REPAIR YOUR ITEM! THEY HAVE THE MOST HORRIBLE SERVICE. IN THE END THE OWNER WAS YELLING AT ME!!!! I WOULDN'T TRUST THESE PEOPLE! I wish I could give them zero stars read more

With all the wonderful reviews for this business, I was eager to add my experience to the mix. However, when I picked up my vacuum, I was charged double ($40 for a total of $80!) the quote because he replaced the filters. Then & there I looked up and purchased the EXACT same filters on Amazon for $16.99, free shipping. So I paid the quoted $40 for a 'tune-up', but later discovered the cord was still dirty/greasy with marks that could've been cleaned off had not been touched. My previous experiences elsewhere with getting a vacuum tuned up was that the vacuum was returned to me in in almost new condition. All in all, I do not recommend this business. read more

I was highly impressed with the service I received on my a sewing machine at this shop. Not only did Salvador immediately determine the problem and fix it within a few minutes, but he was very patient with various questions I had about the machine operation and set up, and took the time to look over my shoulder while I did some of these operations while still in the shop. We have a very old Singer Sewing machine that seemed to need a new motor...brought it in to Salvador who immediately recognized the problem as an adjustment and gave me the machine back immediately with only a smile... I had brought our old vacuum here a couple of years ago to be repaired..it was a cheaper model and we got another 2 yrs use out of it. More recently my husbad brought the same vacuum back to be repaired and ended up buying a new one-- he was over it. The Riccar vacuum we have now is fantastic. Brought my serger to Sewing & Vacuum to fix the problem I'd been having with it. I was told it would be done within three days and he said he'd call in two... I waited until the third day and still no call from the guy. Because of the negative reviews I read here, I decided to take my serger back and bring it someplace else. Guess what? I'm glad I did because it didn't cost me a penny at the other place, while Sewing and Vacuum told me that the job would be a lot of work. The Sewing Machine Plus guy found the problem the moment he laid eyes on my serger and fixed the very simple problem in less than 5 minutes. It doesn't get better than this. The kind of Mom and Pop place with integrity, except there's no Mom and Pop. There's just Salvador, who is the owner and truly a salesman with integrity. I purchased two vacuum cleaners from this place that are high quality. I must have spent over an hour in the store inundating the guy with questions and test driving different models. He was patient and applied no pressure whatsoever. (One part of the vac broke off of one of them and over a year later, Salvador is willing to replace it for free. No fuss!) And more recently, I purchased a used perfectly humming sewing machine serviced and warrantied under Salvador. (He had a Bernina mechanical machine in MINT condition! Allowed me to sew on it and sat down with me to explain and help me figure out the mechanics. It sews like a dream and he gave me a one year warranty in addition to handing over a machine that's been newly serviced and ready-to-roll.) Salvador knows his products and is honest (he could have tried to sell me one of the more expensive Pfaffs or Janomes in his store, but didn't). This place beats big box stores by far. Wish there were more Salvadors in the world. You'll feel completely at ease knowing that you're getting a high quality product with a kind, honest salesman behind it willing to make sure your product will continue to satisfy. This by far is the best store I have experienced for my vacuum needs. I needed to replace an older power head for my built in vacuum system. I received excellent advise and an excellent price for the replacement.I got home with the unit and it did not work. I called Salvador and he came to my house that evening to fix. It was my power hose that was the problem and not the unit. He fixed it and I could not be happier. This is an excellent shop to deal with. read more

The folks here are quite nice but the work they do is not effective. I've used them twice for repairs; neither time did they actually repair the machine involved. First, about 2 years ago, was my central vacuum system, which was making an awful screeching sound. The repairman came, did something, and said it was fixed. Nope! Called, he came again, did something, and .... Still screeches like a banshee. I gave up and bought an upright vacuum cleaner and ignore the fact that I have a non-usable central system. This summer, my Kenmore sewing machine froze. I took it over, explained it wasn't working, and left it to be repaired. After I got it home (after about 10 days there), it worked for about 2 weeks, then froze again. As with the vacuum system, they said they'd take care of it. Back we went. This time, he said he tightened the belt and it would be fine. It worked for less than an hour before freezing again. I was so discouraged that I gave up (as with the vacuum system). I just phoned and was told that what they had done was just service, not repair at all. But, said I, both times I told you and the owner that the machine did not work! Clearly it needed more than service. She didn't seem able to hear (or maybe accept?) that she and the owner had not understood (or chose to ignore) what I had actually said. Now she says to actually repair it will cost an additional $129. NOPE!! I urge you not to ask these folks to repair anything. read more

I took my Singer sewing machine in to be mended. I received a call a day later telling me that the motor was dead and that it would be difficult to mend because the Singer motors are now made in China. The girl said that they would give me $50 dollars for my machine in part exchange for a reconditioned one that they were selling for $500. My machine was a Singer Digital quilting machine and the one they were trying to part exchange was 'mechanical' and she didn't think it would quilt! I told her that that wasn't a good exchange since her machine didn't do what I needed. I said I would just pick the machine up. As it was a Friday afternoon and traffic on I-5 would be bad, I said I would pick it up the next day. She said fine, and did not specify a time that I should come. At 10:30 this morning, ( a day later), I traveled back to Encinitas to collect my machine and the male working there said I couldn't have it because it wasn't ready, and told me to come back in the afternoon. I explained that I didn't live anywhere near and couldn't come back. He started shouting at me and telling me to go. I remained calm and said that the girl had said it was ok to pick it up on Saturday and hadn't specified a time that I should come, in fact she had given me the impression that I could come the day before. Long story short, It got very nasty and he refused to give me my machine back. Since they had told me it was irreparable, I was prepared to take it even if it was in bits. I ended up calling my husband and he suggested calling the police. As a compromise, the man said come back in one hour and it will be ready. My gut feeling, and reading some of the other non-favourable reviews here, is that this business has got some kind of scam going - saying something can't be mended, offering another reconditioned item in part exchange and then mending the original item to start full circle. I just got a call from him telling me my machine was ready, went to pick it up and he shouted at me, 'your machine is a piece of s**t, now get out here'. The man was obnoxious, unprofessional, aggressive and rude. I would sincerely advise people not to use this business. If I could give it zero stars, I would. read more

I didn't get a call when the sewing machine was ready like the guy told me I would, so I had to call him myself. Then they couldn't find the foot pedal that should have been kept with my sewing machine (in the original box, which I also brought), and he just gave me a different one saying that one worked just as well and it's a newer model anyway. After reading the reviews I was very excited to bring my sewing machine here to get fixed. When I dropped it off, on Friday, I was told they would get to it the next day. As the end of the next day approached I called to check in & was told they would get to it Tuesday. Tuesday morning I had a message that they needed the pedal. Thankfully I grabbed the pedal & the power cord because when I got there it turned out they needed the power cord too. Friday came & I called to check in again, they've had the machine for a week. I was told I could pick it up Saturday anytime. I picked up my machine & happily paid the $49 to have the timing adjusted. Got home & half way between my first project the machine is still making a noise and shredding the thread. I'm not sure if they adjusted the timing or not, all I know is it took much longer than promised and I'm out $49 for a problem that wasn't fixed. I can't say I would recommend them for sewing machine repair. read more
