Overpriced is all I can say. We came in because they had a special bourbon paddle which was ok. They advertised Whiskey Acres heavily in their promotion but only one of the four was Whiskey Acres. I ordered their Fathers Day BBQ special which was supposed to be ribs, brisket, mac n cheese and cornbread. For $38 we got four rib bones and one slice of dry brisket. My wife's horseshoe only had the equivalent of one chicken tender. Our ticket was $107 and we joked we could have gone to Mission BBQ and got three times as much food for under $50. Four of us ate during lunch on March 6 2023 and the food was mediocre. My wife had the stir fry and there was a excessive amount of soy sauce used in this dish. My friend had the tenderloin sandwich and it was over cooked to a dark brown instead of a light to golden brown. However, it was a fair size thickness of meat. We happened upon the restaurant traveling - stayed at the Springhill Suites next door. WOW.... An amazing find. My husband and I are food snobs and this place check all the boxes. I had the salmon which came with rice, vegetables, an amazing lemon butter sauce and sprinkled with sunflower seeds. The flavors were spectacular. Mt husband had the ribeye and with the potato cakes. Nashville Hot chicken could have been a tad "hotter", but was cooked perfectly and crispy also. Bartender assisted me, by my request, signing up for their rewards. Our experience at Engrained was sub-par at best. First off it was freezing. I actually had to use all of our napkins to cover my arms because I was shivering the entire time. We were seated at one of the tall tables in the first room of the restaurant. The place looked empty b/c everyone else was seated back in the booth section. So we sat for a good 10 minutes before a server came over and said he was just informed he had a new table. Not the best of starts! We ordered drinks and an app while we had him there to get the show on the road finally. The cheese curds were good. Crispy, cheesy, and a great spicy ranch sauce. I then ordered the breakfast horseshoe. I've never ordered a breakfast version of this Springfield delicacy so I had high hopes b/c I love eggs, cheese, bread, and potatoes. Unfortunately it was not a winning dish. Their cheese sauce was terrible. You can tell from the pic I posted how lumpy it was. And I really couldn't even figure out what cheese they use. All you taste is beer. The dish was also cold. The eggs were cold and over cooked. The Texas toast wasn't toasted, and the potatoes were burnt. I probably ate 10 bites at best. With so many great local restaurants in SPI, this place will not be on my hit list during any future visits... read more

Best American restaurant/food in Springfield! Engrained and Obed and Isaac's are my two favorites; and Engrained not only has better food but hands down, a million times better service in my opinion. Love their cheese curds and their wings. Burgers and sandwiches are always solid. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Love their beers as well. I love beer and their Hefeweizen is one of the best I ever had. Waiter Zachary is the man! He was hilarious, super knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, and provided fantastic service. This was our second visit here. Last time I had the meatloaf dinner which was very good. This time we opted for salad and flatbread which also completely satisfied. Their craft brews were as good as I remembered from our first visit. Our waiter was prompt and pleasant. We were offered seating in the bar area, but opted for a seat in the "booth" area because it was quieter--more amenable for conversation. Overall, the restaurant was clean and pleasant. We were a group of maybe 50 that made a reservation around 3:30pm.... The restaurant was not really busy which was good. Plus it was past lunch time They had all 15 kids in one long table... and all parents in a section separate. Ordering food was chaotic because they had to go the parents table, then we had to get food for kids sitting somewhere else. Our daughter has severe allergies -- so we opted to get her from the kids menu -- grilled salmon with fries The salmon was not cooked. Since all the kids performed for the IDTA competition at 1:40pm... they barely ate in the morning so these kids were extremely hungry by the time their food came around 4pm. My daughter was just eating not knowing that her salmon was disgustingly uncooked. I reported this to the manager who was extremely apologetic... removed the order from my bill and offered me a complimentary glass of wine. When I got my bill they still charged me for the glass of wine. Good thing I checked my bill. Crazy experience. Unacceptable. My daughter is still having tummy issues till today. We ordered the fried cheese curds with sriracha ranch dressing and they were delicious. We also ordered fish and chips and their Black and Bleu Steak Salad. Both were very good.
