I really like Engrained, and not just because it's extremely convenient for me. They focus on sustainable and local foods, and generally have a variety of healthy items, as well as a few unhealthy type treats. The prices are a bit higher than other locations on campus, but the food quality is great, and the portions are often more than I can eat in one sitting.
They are located at the very south end of ECHA, on the 2nd floor.
I usually get the soup, the Engrained Big Bowl (a delicious salad), or the veggie pita. The staff is great, and they are willing to adapt the food orders for my preferences and dietary restrictions (by making something from scratch so it doesn't have cheese, for example.) The ready-made salads all have either cheese or meat on them, so veg*ns are best off ordering from the grill!
I gets very busy at lunch. The system of purchasing food is not very effective when there are crowds, so I recommend making sure you have lots of time to order and eat. Also, like other campus food places, they charge for using the interac machine. read more
