    Menudo wasn't edible..

Sorry really sorry. Made a mistake coming here. Now the service was ok but the food. There are lots of Mexican food from here to Napa. This place is quite atrocious. No wonder it was empty when we got here. As much as i would like to love this place they need to step up their food game and reinvent. Not good.

First time here and it was pretty decent. I got the pastor enchiladas and carnitas taco 2 item combo. Al pastor was the better tasting meat, however both were a bit dry and the green sauce on the pastor enchiladas really carried it. The rice was just okay, but the beans were very warm and yummy. I also got an agua fresca de jamaica which was delicious.

Food is consistently wonderful. Crispy tacos are not soggy because they use taco stands. The beans are so flavorful. Service is great

What looks like bagged lettuce on the side of my vegetarian burrito entree.

I've lived in Benicia for years and have never tried this place, but decided to order delivery. The nicest thing I can say about the food is that it came quickly and the order was correct. The vegetarian super burrito was pretty bland with the flavorless refried beans (no black beans?), and on the side was what appeared to be bagged salad. The mixed meat fajitas tasted basic. Neither dish had much flavor. The refried beans on the side also had no flavor at all. The salsa tasted unpleasantly sweet, almost a hint of spaghetti sauce-like flavor rather than fresh salsa. I was also surprised that you have to pay $2.99 for chips and salsa (Sandoval's doesn't charge for it). For $1.00 for extra salsa, we got a few tablespoons in a tiny container, which ultimately, we didn't mind because we didn't want it, but come on---$1.00 for a few tablespoons? The chips tasted mostly like the oil they were fried in. All of the foods we tried just tasted like they were low quality. There wasn't a single thing we liked that we ate. It was mediocre at best. Multiple reviewers have said "the owners have changed and it's better now." I can't imagine what it must have tasted like then, if this is the new and improved. Either that or nothing actually changed and I'm tasting the same thing that most people rate 2.5 stars. Two to 2.5 stars is fair, in my opinion.

Carne asada burrito but where is the meat?

Slowly trying new local businesses since I am new to the area and unfortunately, I will not return to this place because my $15 carne asada super burrito did not taste good nor did it have enough meat for me. They got my order wrong initially by giving me a regular burrito so they had to remake it. (Thank God I took a bite in the car! Something told me to do that!) The customer service was actually good...she was very apologetic and fixed me another burrito right away. They are a little slow, I can honestly say that. It took quite awhile to make my burrito... (It was faster on the remake).

We came here for a quick bite to eat and a margarita. When you walk in you seat yourself, there was only one waiter but he did his best tending to all the tables. For the appetizer like most Mexican restaurants we received chips and salsa. The portions were extremely small, my mom and I finished it within 5 minutes. (We were a little hungry, so the picture is the aftermath). Regardless of the small portions the flavor of the salsa was great, and it was chunky how I like it. The chips weren't greasy, and tasted fresh as well. The portion sizes must run throughout the restaurant, because my margarita was so tiny. I also asked for sugar rim, but still received salt...I didn't say anything because he was a one man band. An upside to this visit was the mini connect 4. The food was cold, and kind of bland. I didn't have high hopes for this restaurant because it was in a complex, but decided to give it a try despite the reviews. Probably will trust my fellow yelpers next time. So disappointing to come to California and have bad Mexican food):

So disappointed. Ordered 2 kids burritos and a super burrito or my husband and I ordered Pozole , it was all broth , no cabbage , no lime, very bland . Send with stale tostada chip tastes like cardboard. Kids said the sour cream on burritos tasted like buttermilk ... definitely will not order here again .

*** Vegetarian Review ***…read more You order at the counter. I told the staff that it was my first time, but wanted a breakfast burrito. She didn't just take my order, she made sure I got the breakfast burrito exactly like I imagined. The best review I can provide - my first visit was on February 18. I've already been back 3 times in under 1 week. Each time I've ordered the breakfast burrito, but I do want to try their cheese enchiladas and chili relleno.Seating Limited inside seating. 7 tables, probably a maximum capacity of 25 people. Outside seating - 2 picnic style tables. No salsa and chip bar. They have the salsas in a fridge behind the counter. Chips aren't self-serve either. Breakfast Burrito ($14.50, Grade A) - typically comes with a wheat tortilla. Choice of pinto, refried, or black beans. Rice, scrambled eggs, sour cream, cheese, avocado slices, salsa Fresca, and roasted tomato sauce and lettuce. I was really happy she asked me "do you want the wheat or white tortilla?" I went with una tortilla blanca. Great size for a burrito. The fresh avocado slices are a nice touch to elevate the burrito versus guacamole that can get messy. Plus, guac inside of a burrito usually makes the burrito cold, but fresh slices fixed that issue. Plenty of scrambled egg in every bite. One of the better breakfast burritos I've had. Can't confirm if the tortilla is housemade, but it has that texture. You know the last bites of the burrito have that texture? In this case, every bite has that same texture. Fajita Tostada Salad ($15.95, Grade A) - flour tortilla shell filled with warm black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, salsa Fresca, sour cream, and guacamole. Not sure where the fajita part of the menu comes into play because not much fajita-ish about this dish. Substitions - instead of grilled chicken, they allowed a free swap for rice. Cool looking dish. Who doesn't like a fried flour tortilla bowl? The thing that sticks out about this menu item was the bowl fillings were hot. Many times when I order taco salad bowls, the fillings are room temp. Having the dish warm-hot made a world of difference and made it truly feel like a meal. This dish comes with a salsa verde that acts like a salad dressing. If you are familiar with Dos Coyote Howlin' Tostada dressing, this was similar. Salsas - they have mild and hot. Hot is totally doable and if you can handle a little spice, it makes every bite of the breakfast burrito that much better. Bottom Line - friendly service. Delicious food. If you take it to go, make sure to ask for chips and salsa because they won't automatically put it in the bag.

But one thing that has been really annoying was that the last couple times we've gone, the service hasn't been the best. Our orders have been wrong multiple times. But this recent visit was different. Last week we came by and decided to sit outside since it's been warmer. In my head, I was thinking, "I'm gonna be so sad if they forget about us." Like literally 30 seconds a super kind kid came out and greeted us and asked if we wanted some chips and salsa. Thank god! Things were starting to look up! I ordered a Beer Batter Fish Taco Dinner with flour instead of corn tortillas. They were so good. The fish didn't have too much breading. The seasoning was perfect. But I was shocked with the sauce that it came with. I don't know what it was but it was a light green and creamy texture. Maybe a cilantro or avocado crema? Whatever it is, if you order the tacos, you gotta add this crema to them. It is a must!
