I've been coming here for years, usually on Thursdays after school because my son likes to order plain chicken with fries. We order ahead because we're on a tight schedule -- I'm a busy, involved parent getting him to the gym after school. A few weeks back, despite ordering plain chicken, his plate came out with pico de gallo. He won't eat it that way. I didn't have time to drive back, so I let it go. The following week, we ordered in person and the waitress assured me she double-checked the order. My son's meal came out correctly -- but my plate was made plain instead of how I ordered it. Not a big deal. I can eat it. I called simply to let them know there was a mix-up -- not demanding anything, not asking for free food. What I wasn't prepared for was being called a liar. I was told the order was made correctly and that if I wanted it fixed I had to bring everything back immediately -- including the salsas. I explained we were on a time schedule for my son's gym session. Instead of understanding, I was told my "games won't fly" there and that I was being a "Karen" looking for free food. My son was hungry and upset during the call. She heard him. We drove back anyway. I placed the plate on the counter, and once she saw it, the mistake was obvious. Only then did she offer to remake it. At that point it wasn't about the food -- it was about being accused of lying and being publicly disrespected in front of my child. Weeks later, I noticed the order was never refunded. I had to dispute the charge with American Express to get my money back. I've supported this restaurant for years. This wasn't about a wrong plate -- mistakes happen. It was about how we were treated when trying to resolve it. I can't return after being called dishonest and a beggar over a simple order issue. No estaba preparado para que me llamaran mentiroso. Me dijeron que la orden estaba correcta y que si quería que la arreglaran tenía que regresar de inmediato con todo, hasta las salsas. Expliqué que teníamos que ir al gimnasio. La respuesta fue que mis "juegos no funcionaban ahí" y que estaba siendo un "Karen" buscando comida gratis. Mi hijo estaba llorando de hambre mientras escuchaba todo. Aun así regresamos. Puse el plato sobre el mostrador. Cuando lo vieron, quedó claro que el error era real. Glad to have found yet another great Mexican restaurant in Vallejo. Good food, good service, good price! I'll def be back. I can see this becoming one of my regularly visited spots. The Carne Asada Super burrito was good, the shrimp taco (deep fried shrimp) was REALLY good. My son got Al Pastor Taco (he said is was surprisingly different from any Al Pastor he's had in Vallejo but he liked it nonetheless). Ok so this is my first time trying this place and I'm disappointed. I was excited about the enchilada but it tasted more like tomato sauce instead of enchilada sauce. I had takeout last week and tried some new things. The kids quesadilla with rice and beans was a pretty good deal but it was just a flour tortilla folded over with cheese. Not big, not amazing, but not bad for a plain quesadilla. I guess to me it lacked flavor and needed a dash of salt for that cheese to stand out. Also got a kid Super burrito with fries. That was really good and a good size portion for a kid. It could easily be split between two children or a leftover meal. I had the chimichanga with the rice and beans. I really liked the chimichanga and it actually arrived still crispy on the top, which is rare. It looked amazing and tasted good but when you tried to cut into it, the crust was so thick and doughy on the inside that I couldn't cut through it without a sharp knife. Since I have a sharp knife, but no patience, I used my fingers and tried to pull it apart and well then I just made a mess and it didn't look appealing anymore. lol ‍. The flan was the star of the meal. And I'm not gonna lie, I ate half of it before my dinner and I don't regret it. . It was really good. Had a nice creamy consistency with good flavor. I usually get tacos here on Tuesdays but I came in on Wednesday. I totally started ordering tacos and then found out it wasn't Tuesday lol. So I ordered their next special which is a pretty good deal. Super burritos for $7. Their tacos are pretty good so can't wait to try their super burritos. Monday morning I was in the mood for a breakfast burrito and a quick search on Yelp turned up Mi Jalisco. I had been here before a few years ago but was not impressed. Today was different. *Disappointed by a Good Spot That Needs to Take Cleanliness More Seriously* I've been coming to Mi Jalisco Restaurant for a while, usually with my wife or family. The food (especially the ceviche) has always been a favorite of mine. On this visit, I came alone, craving that same ceviche I've enjoyed in the past. Everything started off well. My waitress was polite and attentive, and my order came out quickly. I was really enjoying my meal... until something unexpected and disturbing happened. As I was eating, I saw something crawling along the edge of my table and toward the back of my seat -- a cockroach. I was shocked and grossed out. After a moment of panic, I managed to kill it with a napkin and brought it to the attention of my waitress. She apologized and said she would inform the owner. I told her I was going to wash my hands and would return shortly. When I got back, she apologized again and offered to get me some boxes. However, what surprised me most was what didn't happen: -There was no effort to comp the meal, -No sincere or detailed explanation of how this issue would be handled, -No reassurance that this was being taken seriously. I paid the full bill at the front and left feeling extremely disappointed. To make matters worse, this wasn't my first encounter with pests here. Just last month, I noticed a trail of ants along the window baseboard on the opposite side of the parking lot. I didn't make a big deal of it at the time, hoping it was a one-off. But now, after seeing a cockroach at my table, it's clear that cleanliness is a recurring issue. I still like the food, and the service is generally decent. But what happened today shows that the restaurant needs to take much better action when it comes to food safety and customer care. No one should be seeing insects while dining and if it does happen, it needs to be handled with urgency, transparency, and responsibility. I went here recently and man was it good! Got the Carne Asada Fries and they were perfect. Sometimes you to places where they either short change you on the nacho sauce or they put so much that the fries or nachos get to soggy. This order had the perfect amount of nacho cheese with all the juicy fixins. The picture below doesn't do the meal justice; especially the Mi Jalisco Burrito... Again I tried to put it next to my arm so that people have a reference but the picture still doesn't do it justice. It's pretty dang wide too...Just imagine a Super Burrito but almost twice the size. I finally found the ultimate chile relleno. These are out of this world good. They make the perfect mild ranchero sauce which is a MUST have. The chile is rather large so you don't need two. And the cheese, they don't spare it. The chile itself is mild. I could eat these everyday. Please don't ever stop making these.
