Shishito Peppers were a great app. We got many with a bit of heat that was well balanced w/ the teriyaki sauce drizzled over. Miso Cod was good, but this may be the only one I would say is less than expected. Small cut and perhaps overcooked as it was a bit dry and too flakey. Sushi Roll (Maki) game is strong!!!! Colorado Roll is one of their many fried rolls. We kept the shishito teriyaki sauce in reserve and quite honestly, the roll should be drizzled with this. Very fresh flavors w/ buttery fish in the middle. YUM. Aki Roll is a HUGE HIT. Salmon and fresh mango inside topped with super fresh tuna and black tobiko for that little POP. Peppered Tuna Roll: I have not seen this on any menu before, but FANTASTIC. The small grain pepper grind over the tuna is so perfect. Definitely the unanimous table favorite. I tried Aki Sushi tonight based on other's recommendations, and it was wonderful! Definitely some of the best tasting fish I've had in a while. The sashimi cuts were HUGE. And normally I'm grumpy about "sauces" being on all the rolls, because that usually means goopy, overpowering sauces, but here they were light and perfectly complemented the rolls. I never touched my soy sauce! Also many places make a heap of tempura shrimp for rolls at the beginning of the shift (if you're lucky) so they are cold and soggy in the roll. But my shrimp was still warm and crispy! It was the perfect offset of temperature, texture, and flavor in the roll (as is should be). Came here for a quiet date night and was happy to see they closed a little later than many other places in the area. We walked in at almost 9 PM and decided to sit at the sushi bar, it was clean and inviting, there were only a couple of other people there. The server was super attentive, greeting us instantly, answering all my questions and giving some much needed recommendations We decided to start with the spicy edamame. I also asked her to bring out a side of the garlic dipping sauce, normally served with a different appetizer. It was really good and fresh, not really spicy, but still yummy We decided to split a few rolls, one I can't remember the name of, but the Kiss of fire was really good, genuinely spicy with the jalapeño on top. I was craving sushi and decided to pop into Aki with my husband one afternoon. The interior is elevated but with a casual vibe. We noticed that they have happy hour everyday which is a nice option. We were greeted immediately and ordered a Sapporo and purple sake. I need to mention that I just adored the stackable set the sake is served in. We started with shumai and it was so fluffy and crispy. My husband ordered the sashimi entree and I ordered the Yama roll with a spicy tuna. We had the miso soup which had so much umami. The sashimi entree comes with soup and salad and I tried some of the salad. The dressing was so flavorful and creamy you could tell it was house made. I've been to places before that unfortunately use bottled dressing and it's a huge difference. My sushi had perfectly cooked and seasoned rice. It was one of those nights: visit at Swedish hospital for an entire day and the only place still opened at night that was nearby was Aki Sushi. Parking was plenty to the side of the building and we entered from the back. As soon as we walked in we felt welcomed. And although we didn't order a whole lot, we finished everything! House salad was refreshing and it woke me up like a cup of coffee which I wouldn't have at night! Fantastic Dragon Roll was fantastic! Hubby knows how much I like good imitation crab, sometimes even more than real crab, lol. This role was doused in shreds of them, I was so happy! The Seafood ramen almost sent us to an argument. I thought he was going to get the traditional ramen, you know, the kind with a marinated egg and pork belly, in a thick creamy soup. But he went for the seafood option thinking that's what I wanted! As soon as we tasted it, though, both of us shut up. It was pretty hearty, and well flavored. It warmed up my body and mind after a long day of at an unpleasant setting. We travel to Denver once a year (Alaskan, and BIG SUSHI lovers) and always try new sushi spots when we arrive. This year we stumbled upon a Reddit post for "best food in Denver 2024" and Aki Sushi was mentioned multiple times by multiple redditors who said that no other sushi spot has held up since trying Aki, it's the best they had. I have to say, they were right. We can't believe how amazing it was. The sashimi was so fresh, so flavorful, so tender it was like biting into soft buttery heaven. The speciality rolls were perfect as well, it was just an incredible experience. We joked we don't know if we can try other sushi places now since it has always been a risk/reward chance before, but finding what feels like the holy grail.... We checked these guys out today because I wanted to have some ramen after 12 hours of fasting for bloodwork. We started with sharing seaweed salad and Dynamite. The salad was great but I wasn't happy with the way the dynamite was prepared. They dice everything quite small so the consistency was not ideal - plus they didn't have mushrooms in the mix. I had a giant bowl of very tasty miso ramen with 4 pieces of delicious pork, while my husband had sushi. I also had a few pieces of hamachi. My eyes were a bit too big for my stomach so I did share my soup....Oh and they have a special on hot sake in the afternoon so we split one. :) The service was great, too. read more

We were headed back to Gallo Supper Club for some lunch and pastries to go when we noticed neighboring Aki Japanese Cuisine just a couple doors down. We are always up for trying a new spot, so we stopped in. Here's what you need to know... They serve lunch specials seven days a week. This is a huge plus in my book when my husband and I cannot take a lunch break at the same time during the week. Lunch specials with soup and salad run $13-16 each. This was quite the deal for the amount of food they serve. I tried the sushi & sashimi with a California roll. It was way too much food for one sitting for me and the size of the fish blew me away! The salad dressing tasted good, but the lettuce was just that. A little lettuce. My husband skipped the lunch special and ordered some tuna and salmon sushi and a Philly roll. Everything we tried was very flavorful. The service was excellent. We were not left waiting or wanting anything at anytime. This was a very nice lunch for a good price. We are looking forward to heading back to get adventurous and try some of their special rolls next time. read more

Not gonna lie, the wait here and how they treated us when we were waiting almost made me downgrade them. However, when I had their sushi, I had forgotten all about the wait. The wait was definitely worth it. Their sushi is definitely fresh and it's soooo good! My favorite was the fatty yellowtail jalapeno. It was so soft and melts in your mouth. It was fragrant, tender, and super tasty! I could honestly eat that all night. They have a variety of options of sushi/nigiri/rolls. Their sashimi is definitely worth the price. You can tell from the picture that they have thick cuts of sashimi and they do not skimp one bit on that part. The only complaint I would have is that their rice to fish ratio for their nigiri was a little off. They had a bit too much rice on there but that's ok because everything was super fresh. The wait staff is super friendly and sweet. The owner is so nice and came to talk to us to check in on everything. She was super pleasant. My second favorite dish was definitely the sweet shrimp. It was fresh and so sweet! The shrimp heads they made were delicious as well. I usually don't eat the shrimp heads due to its greasiness but they fried it so well and it comes with a sauce that really compliments the shrimp heads, so yummy! Yes, there's limited seating here and the wait may be long, but it's definitely worth it. I can see why this place is so popular and busy, it's because they deliver great service and serve delicious and fresh sashimi. Amazing experience! Love a baked mussel from anywhere but this one had so much flavor. The top roll (kiss of fire) was good & had just enough kick. The bottom (3484) was my favorite. Aki Sushi had opened recently and after reading the Yelp reviews, I anticipated a delicious lunch. I was very disappointed. The good: Inside, this place appeared clean and decorated nicely. The service was prompt and our server was friendly and courteous. My neighbor had a 50% off coupon. The bad: I ordered the shrimp hibachi lunch special which included miso soup, a salad, mixed vegetables and rice. My friend ordered the salmon hibachi and 2 rolls. When my order arrived, the vegetables were lukewarm and none of the food I tasted had much flavor. With so many decent sushi restaurants around, I will not return nor can I recommend this place. read more

Generally I like this restaurant very much. They have good quality and I like what they have. On this particular day we ordered by giving them a phone request for pick up. We ordered five different rolls and some crab wontons. We received no wasabi no ginger and very little soy sauce to go with the sushi. With the wontons we got two little containers of sweet-and-sour sauce and no hot mustard. Don't know what's happening with them today but I'm not very happy.
