Reserved 6, 12 passenger vans for 3 hockey teams that traveled to Chicago. Prepaid for all of them…read morein advance. After an hour long wait in line, was told that none of our cars were available. They were able to find 1 full sized SUV, and 3 minivans, but this still left us short by 24 seats for our players. Those 24 ended up spending $600 on 8 minivans to get to the hotel that evening. My minivan was absolutely filthy with bits of food, dirt, dried up liquids on almost every surface (see photos). Worse than that, I only discovered that the car had not a single drop of washer fluid while driving thru a snowstorm the next day. Most egregious, despite having already prepaid $660 for the 12 passenger van that I never received, I was charged $901 for the smaller, 7 passenger minivan when I dropped it off. Counter agent never gave me a contract / rental agreement and never informed me that I was going to be charged for the mini-van in addition to the prepayment that I had already paid. The absolute worst aspect of this entire experience, all 3 staff members could care less about their customer's experience. It was difficult to even get them to remove their AirPods when speaking with them. I usually use Avis as my preferred rental car agency, but will be switching to Enterprise or Hertz after this.

I assumed this was just related to the cleaning and was exhausted after a long day, so took the car into the city where I was staying. Didn't end up driving at the next day, but the day after I got in and noticed a severe cigarette sent and a cigarette burn on the driver side seat. In addition, the cigarette or small storage area in the console was sticky and dirty, and the cover for the back storage area was obviously from a different vehicle, did not fit, and took up a large portion of the rearview mirror space. None of this had been noted prior to renting the Car. I stopped at three Hertz locations and was told they did not have any cars that I could trade out for. RJ with reservations told me these locations would have cars, but said he couldn't reserve any for me and couldn't make any promises. Elijah at the State Street Chicago location walked away from me, after telling me there were no cars and did not offer any type of support or even a phone number to call for assistance. Larry at Midway location (again, where I was told cars were available on the phone) told me there was nothing for me and would hardly even make eye contact. He also mentioned that it was Saturday so I shouldn't really expect anything and that there wasn't really any customer service or manager available. When I asked about options, he just handed me the customer service booklet and again ignored any further questions that I had. Overall, I spent half a day trying to figure this out and still got nowhere. I spent over an hour on hold with no one even picking up the phone just calling and dialing multiple locations without getting any assistance. Extremely disappointed with the customer service experience even with gold status!

I was in line for over an hour to be seen. I rented an intermediate SUV, but they only had large pickup trucks. I took the offer. The check- in staff was professional and friendly given the circumstances. They provided a fuel credit due to the inconvenience. The pickup was too big for my needs. Difficult to maneuver. Many of the features that should be available on a large vehicle were not equipped or programmed, especially the parking technology. My car lacked wrap- around cameras to assist parking, proximity warnings when close to objects, or back up warnings. The back- up camera was imprecise. I had no functional trunk. My drop-off experience was poor. It was Easy to drop off. One agent was friendly and helpful. The other public- facing agents were uncaring or rude. My agent barely spoke to me and didn't ask basic questions about returning the vehicle. Offered no assistance. I also had bad experience with staff in preferred member area. Five minutes after returning car, I realized that I had missing items. The friendly return agent directed me to the desk agent. The desk agent was openly dismissive and rude to me . Suggested that that my reason for checking the car was not important. She was dismissive and didn't want to offer help. This is not an exaggeration. This experience makes me less likely to rent a vehicle from this vendor at that location.

This is what Alamo should have done, but Hertz came through. The employee Alexis stayed to 2:15am assisting us, and it was a smooth process. So props to her and Alamo helping at 2:15am, preventing some late stranded passengers like us.

I asked her if she arrived before us or after, and she said that she had arrived after us. I decided to do some research on this location, and saw all the terrible similar experiences on different days and time. At this point, I went to request to speak to the manager, and they said that we were next in line. I requested to speak to the manager anyway, and the lady said that the person would be on their way to speak to me. My significant other, at this point, started to look for a ride and went up to cancel the reservation. As soon as he got to the counter, the vehicle "suddenly" became available. We got to the parking lot, and it was full of vehicles of all sizes! What on earth?? I don't understand what happened here, but do yourself a favor, do NOT rent a car from them.

We rented our car through Costco so when we got there we did not have to wait in the line downstairs, we went upstairs to the checkout and there was no line and it went very smooth. They did not have the Camry we were supposed to get, so instead they gave us a 4 door Jeep for the same price. It seemed like ok deal. Turns out the Jeep was a hybrid but the battery wasnt charged so it was like a normal car with small gas tank. We were not driving that much so it didnt matter. One thing specifically about Jeeps which I did not know, but should have expected, is the ride is pretty rough and bumpy. Now I know, I should not get one in the future. It was a nice looking car with plenty of space, just rough ride.

The representative who tracks incoming cars, took it and washed it, filled the washer fluid and tried to make me feel a little better about the situation. When I was waiting, I asked the agent how I'd be compensated for my inconvenience. He shrugged his shoulders and said the car I was going to be put in was an upgrade. I'm not a Mustang person so this rang hollow. I then insisted that he adjust the rental time to only reflect the time I had the car. He agreed and went back to doing next to nothing. I had no issues returning the vehicle. As a rule, I take a picture of the fuel and miles to be able to confirm that I did refuel it and no surprise charges occur. Keep in mind when you are arriving or returning to allow time to take the shuttle back to the terminal. Customer service is minimal here. No one answers the phone when you call and the in person experience leave something to be desired. I do plan to use other car rental agencies in the future as I was not happy with the experience at this location.

We had reserved a car 2 months prior fir our trip and also prepaid, and they didn't have any cars. They stated they only had full size trucks and we were going to downtown chicago. So they told us to wait until some type of vehicle gets returned @ 7pm at night on a Friday. Well we knew that wasn't going to happen. So after at least and 1hour we went over to the enterprise counter and spoke with Antonio. He said he could take care of us but we would have to make a reservation online. So we went to our phones made one for a simple standard size car and they took care of the rest. After waiting on budget for about 2 hours we were upstairs in a couple of minutes and picking out our car. Upstairs we told Bruno we were wondering if he had any other SUV type vehicles and he pointed over at the Chevrolet Trax. I said if it's newer I'd take it. I then asked what the up charge would be and he said there wouldn't be one he just wanted us happy. We sure were the Trax is small and rode a little rough, but was awesome on gas, and fit anywhere in the city. On the return of the vehicle the gentleman took a quick look at and in no time we were heading to the bus for the terminal. What a painless process. I don't think I will rent from anyone else when I come to Chicago ever again. Thank you Enterprise for saving our trip!!

We may have lucked out when using the Alamo at Midway. We looked for the rental shuttle outside…read morebaggage claim and it takes all rental customers to a central garage off site 5 mins away. The Alamo line was short and fast. Some others (Budget for example) were extremely long- could be luck of the draw. Friendly service and then we got our rental on the 2nd floor. Easy and the car was fine. Return was quick and painless. An older gentleman welcomed me back and was very nice. My wife left her phone in the car and a younger associate ran after us and returned the phone - so thankful as that would have been a big mess. I would definitely use them again.
