Review for Enterprise Rent-A-Car (Community Park Location) I've rented multiple vehicles from this location, and unfortunately, I've had repeated negative and concerning experiences. A few weeks ago, I rented a car for a family trip to Massachusetts. During the drive, I noticed serious mechanical issues, including problems with the gas pedal and brakes. At several points, I genuinely felt that my life and my family's safety were at risk. I had to stop midway through the trip and call to report the issue. Since it was a Saturday and the office had already closed, I was advised by customer support to either call a tow truck or attempt to drive to the nearest open location in Lawrence the next day. This completely disrupted and ruined our family trip. When I returned the replacement vehicle and shared my concerns, one employee told me that the maintenance staff "don't really do a good job" and that they frequently receive customer complaints about vehicle conditions. I was shocked that staff are aware of ongoing safety issues but nothing seems to be done to fix them. Additionally, I've had multiple issues with lost items and lack of follow-up: * I left a bag with important documents in one of the vehicles. I called, was told I'd get a callback, but no one ever followed up. * On a separate rental, I left prescription glasses in the car. Again, I called and was promised a callback--no response. * Weeks later, when I went back in person, another employee checked and found both my bag and glasses in their lost-and-found area. This confirmed that previous staff did not properly check or follow through. I was also told by an employee that the cleaning team often fails to properly inspect vehicles and that complaints about cleanliness and lost items are common. Between the serious safety concerns, poor vehicle maintenance, lack of accountability, and failure to follow up with customers, I find this location extremely troubling. Customers should not be put at risk by being given unsafe vehicles, nor should their concerns be ignored. At this point, I am seriously considering pursuing legal action due to the safety risks involved and the repeated negligence demonstrated by this location. read more

I've had to use them twice. Both times, I've had cars that wreaked of cigarette smoke. The first time, I immediately turned around and replaced it. This time, I had the garage call ahead. I talked to them ahead of getting the car. They'd doused the inside of the car with air freshener so it wasn't initially evident but shortly after leaving, it was clear the car also wreaked. This time I just gave up and left the car sitting in case of an emergency. Why bother trying again while dealing with everything associated with an accident? It shouldn't be that hard to get a drivable car. Avoid them. read more

I only used Enterprise in West Orange because my insurance required it. Unfortunately, I didn't receive the car I initially requested. They "accommodated" me by giving me a much more expensive car, knowing insurance covered it. Then I was charged extra taxes, despite being told everything was included in my daily insurance rate. I was here then when I arrive here, she told me everything was expired. I had to have my take me back home to get a utility bill. I grabbed one that said "shut off notice. I had a very pleasant experience at this enterprise, car rental in Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City. The associates were very informative and I was in an out within 20 minutes not even because I had reserved online. However, it was so nice to go into a business and see an office managed by all women. Yay! Lol. They may have been a male, but I didn't see any which is fine. I've dealt with Enterprise before and regardless of male or female gender everyone does a professional job at Enterprise. Do not rent from this location! My car was being repaired and they recommended this location. the first car they gave me had a faulty tire. I called them and they told me to take it to PEP boys it was late so I waited till the morning after I got it filled with air. In the morning it was flat again so I call there road service. At this point they just gave me another car. When I returned the car they charged me over 50 dollars for the road service. I did not cause the flat the tire was no good. They never told me that I would be charged. I have AAA if would have know that I would have used my AAA. No good business decision. Hopefully I am never in this position again. I haven't had the need to get a rental card such a long time. However in March my car was rear ended and I got a loaner car from this enterprise. The customer service was super nice and he was also very helpful with informing me of the policies and procedures. I actually had to rent a car for almost 2 months. The drop off was just as simple as the pick up. I refilled the car with gas, and then dropped it off and provided them with the keys. It was as simple as that. read more

Everyone in the neighborhood always ask me why i go to this location (they think its in a bad spot and it's not). We rent often throughout the year and a few rentals per year can be for weeks.This crew has always bent over backwards to make sure we are happy.They are always courteous, polite, fast, and make sure to take great care during my pick-up and drop-off.I have seen other reviews on sites and people saying bad things. The worst enterprise location I have ever seen. Very poor service. They give you defective cars and then do not accept the fact that it was defective. Instead they tried to tell me that I may not have been driving it in the proper gear. Oh yeah ! Automatic transmission car not being driven in a proper gear. Then they promise me to give me a free rental whenever I want. I ask them for one and they say sorry we can't give it to you. Then they give me a car which after few miles has a flat tire. I get it fixed and then take it back to them. They promised me once it is fixed we will give you a call. I never get a call back for that and I am without a car. DON'T GO TO THIS ENTERPRISE LOCATION 832 Communipaw Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304. There is something TOTALLY wrong here. We used many time Enterprise no problems. Clean cars, everything smooth. This time when doing the visual inspection before getting the car I pointed out several scratches to Steven, he said not to worry, they know they are there. The car was super dirty and smelled, of weed and vomit. I had to deep clean it several times, it was horrible. Our ( minor) repair took forever, 28 days (because of difficulty of finding parts) . We returned the car Sat 28 of November, Steven was there and had another colleague check the car. He came back from the parking lot and said: "Everything is fine, car is fine, tank is full" 18 days later on Decener 16th they write that we made a list of damages so long you can't imagine! This is bogus, they want to take advantage of our insurance, they thought we are bad drivers and they could take advantage of us, but we have a stellar record in 20 years this was our first time having to fix a minor problem. Who knows what happened, and 18 days later they want our insurance to totally refurbish their car??? Bad news for them: we never ever had a problem with any cars let alone any rentals, ever!!!! And if they go in the Enterprise data base they will see we are perfect clients! DON'T GO THERE YOU ARE GOING TO REGRET IT ON SO MANY LEVELS!!!!! This is a scam, there are so many other places why subject yourself to this abject behavior, don't bring your business there!!! This location is really good about customer service and the prices could not be cheaper. Sure, you may have to take a train there and then either a taxi or call them to come pick you up, but it is worth it in the end. The rental agents are all friendly and will be more than happy to taxi you to and from the train, a service you can't get in Manhattan anyway. One weekend we ended up getting a car from here. It was literally more than $80 a day cheaper than a comparable rental in all of Manhattan and Queens. Once you get over the PATH train and the ride to the car lot, it really is easy and will definitely save you money and probably some hassle too. read more

I was picked up at a car dealership for a rental while they were working on my car. I was in their office for about 25 minutes while they worked on the paperwork. It was sort of ridiculous. They initially only had a huge minivan. Then, a disgruntled customer said that she wasn't going to rent the car assigned to her because the cost was too much. So I ended up (I think) with her car - a 2011 Impala. I am always concerned when doing the walk-around. The employee kept saying that the scratches weren't large enough to make note of. Of course ... until I bring it back and you want to charge me for them. There was less than 1/8 of a tank of gas in the car!!! And it smelled like a combination of cigarette smoke and a terrible carwash air freshener. Seriously. It was pouring rain and I had to drive with the windows down because of the smell. I wanted to return the car a day early because I couldn't stand the smell. But I was told they couldn't drop me at my apartment. The one redeeming part of the rental is that they let me drop the car at the Enterprise in my neighborhood. This particular location looked understaffed -- lots of people needing help (in the office and on the phone) and no inventory and not enough people to help. They were very nice, just a bit understaffed. My advice: Please don't rent cars that look/smell like they've been driven into the ground by 19 year old dudes. read more

It was so funny so see people wearing suits when I walked into this location on Communipaw! Definitely doesn't fit in with the neighborhood, in a good way! The staff were very kind and personable... I think mostly because I am a young fairly attractive female.... not to toot my own horn.... beep beep! I had reserved a "economy" car.... and it just so happened the only one left was a yellow fiat! At first I was not so sure, but then the staff assured me it was nice to drive..... Verdict: It is! I actually kind of like driving this little yellow fiat! Since I was in a wreck and my car is in the shop for the next two weeks, the fiat is mine for awhile! Next time I need a rental car to drive for work I am definitely returning here. Hi, I rented a car from Enterprise on Dec 12th for 2 days from JERSEY CITY II 832 COMMUNIPAW AVE JERSEY CITY, NJ 07304-1304 First they gave me a car which had a high smell of weed in it. I mean, how can you give a car with a weed smell, that too when I booked the car in a day advance. After that I had to go around to different location to have the car changed along with the gas I already put in the 1st car, because there was no gas in the 1st car when i took it. On my day of return, which was Saturday, Dec 14th, it was snowing heavily in Jersey City, so I called the location to ask them about the closing time etc. They said, I can drop the car at another location which has after hours drop off options. The guy never told me that I will be charged etc. if I drop there. I mean, what kind of training do you give to your agent who can't do a simple thing of explaining to your customers that they will be charged etc. if they go to after hour location. I mean, this is not rocket science. THEY CHARGED FOR 4 DAYS, WHEN IN REALITY I SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR ONLY 2 DAYS. Now, I keep calling the Eastern New Jersey headquarter and looks like you only have 1 person there in each department and looks like all of them are on holiday. I have called probably more than 50 times by now. Left so many voice-mails. Bottom line: They suck!!! Pro: The lady who set me up with my car was really nice and amazing... Con: BUT when I called into the office to tell them I was running late in returning the car, I spoke to this gentleman Travis who gave me WRONG information. How can someone working at Enterprise not know their company drop off locations .... especially after putting me on hold for 15 mins to look it up saying he was making sure he was giving me the correct information and THEN giving me information that was incorrect!!!! I was mislead into thinking that there was a 24hr enterprise and was put into a very difficult situation all because enterprise does not let its EMPLOYEES disclose their drop off policies...when i called into the office to place a complaint, this woman on the phone argues with me saying that their employees are not authorized to disclose information about different drop off locations!!!! Why the hell would a company make a policy to help out its customers and then not disclose it to them????? Are you seriously kidding me!!!!!! I placed a second call to enterprise customer service to find a after hour drop off location and this lady again takes 15mins to look up the information and lets me know very confidently that there is NO after hour drop off in my location....well surprise!!! there is an after hour drop off not even 0.1 miles from where I told her I was in a hotel!!!!!!! We got here an hour earlier than the reservation time and they claimed to have no cars available except one that would have required us to rent at a significantly higher daily rate. I have been renting from Enterprise for the past 5 years. If I had a chance would have given this branch 0 stars. It was the third time renting from this location.. But this was my worst experience thanks to Ms. Stephanie (the acting Branch Manager at the time). I reserved a premium car online and call them up a day before to confirm that they keep one for me. Which obviously they didn't at the time I arrived a the location, when it opened at 9 am on Saturday- 24th October 2015. They offered me a upgrade (of course by paying more-I have never come across a location that does not admit to their own fault and does nothing to make it right) or look around other locations to see if they have a premium. But come on, I was not born yesterday nor am I an amateur at renting cars. If other locations had cars, why would I have not reserved it from them. It's a weekend, I've been in this situation, and the Enterprise at Candlewood Jersey City on a previous occasion, made it right by giving me a standard SUV at no extra cost. Its not that I could not pay more to upgrade, but its the locations fault (for not having a car) and the tone of the employees here, makes me not want to deal with them- downright rude is an understatement. I say ok, find a car from another location. So they just dial some other location, at which no one picks the phone. So I'm waiting for over 10min while they are helping other people and taking phone calls. So while I'm waiting, I had the unfortunate opportunity of hearing Ms. Stephanie interact with customers on the phone. There was a Ms. Kim on the other side of the line who she was so rude to. Ms. Stephanie fabricates stories that she is the only one working at the moment and there are 20 people in front of her waiting to be serviced. In all honesty, there were 4 customers including me and 3 employees including Ms. Stephanie. If you can't handle people, you're in the wrong profession, even a child will tell you that. And then after she finishes off with her call, turns to me and says we can't get a car from another location (they have made no effort to find a car - dialing just one other location is a JOKE), take the SUV or leave it. Its like she is doing me a favor by giving me upgrade and charging extra for it too. This has been a terrible experience, and has ended up in me losing my hotel reservations for the weekend away. A tip: Save your money and skip this location altogether. Rent from a customer oriented car rental company where you're not insulted for a lapse on the part of the company/service provider. read more

Aside from some miscommunication regarding pick-up time and then regarding dropping at a different location (really the problem was with the other location), these guys stand by their word. The price was right and the car was in good condition. Any issue that came up was quickly resolved with no argument at all (I cant say the same for other locations in Jersey City). I rented a vehicle from this location on 4/25/13. The day itself couldn't have been worse as I woke up early a.m. to see my car had a flat, I had an important early a.m. meeting in upstate new york and the day presented nothing but doom and gloom ahead as I know my car has special tires and so I would be in this carless state for a bit. In a day like that, I couldn't have asked for a better service experience. I called Enterprise bright and early, booked a car, asked them to pick me up. I was greeted by a smiling face as I was picked up (great patience as I moved stuff from my car to take), taken over and promptly given a car along with a sympathetic listening ear. Knowing that I had an important meeting and a long way to go, I was even given a call later in the day just to make sure everything was well. The return was just as expedient and friendly. I was dropped back home with a smile as before. This was one of the best rental experiences I have had with Enterprise. I will be back without a hitch the next time I need a car. BEWARE!!! I rented a vehicle in Hackettstown on July 6, 2018, NJ and returned it to this location on July 16, 2018. About a month later a charge of $79 appeared on my credit card for a parking citation in NYC issued on July 9, 2018. On that day I had the vehicle with me in Pennsylvania, and had NEVER even had the vehicle within 50 miles of NYC. I called the Citations Department of Enterprise and was informed that they WOULD NOT ISSUE A REFUND unless I could prove that I wasn't at that location at that time. After several hours (and MAJOR hassle) on the phone with Enterprise and Verizon, I was able to email Enterprise GPS location/time data verified by Verizon, that my phone was nowhere near to citation location/time. Issue over, right? Not even close. On September 9, 2018 I received a package in the mail from Enterprise Damage Recovery Unit with a damage claim of $455.17, with 6 pictures of the damage, including HUGE DEEP scratches to the vehicle, and stating "their review indicates that you are responsible for the damages". The charges included a $50 administration fee and $47.37 Loss of Use fee. The date of the damage report was August 14, 2018 - almost A FULL MONTH AFTER I RETURNED THE VEHICLE! Turns out they rented the vehicle THREE TIMES after I returned it, and then brought it to a collision center for repair. DESPITE to fact that the return report on 7/16/2018 indicated the $455 damage was not present when I returned the vehicle, they STILL want to charge me for the damages! I will never pay that charge. My credit card has been canceled and replaced so they cannot charge it. I am reporting this to the Better Business Bureau. TO THIS LOCATION'S CREDIT, they did hang on to my garage door opener for about three weeks and gave it to me when I went back to the location - THANK YOU for that!. They are also not 100% to blame for this, since the Damage Recovery Unit performed the ridiculous review, and the Citation Dept reviewed the parking citation. read more

SCAMMERS! Don't get the prepaid gas especially if the car they give you barely has any gas in it because you wind up getting gas anyway and then they charge you for using gas. So you wind up paying for gas twice. I argued this and was able to get the prepaid gas voided. Also, make sure you check your mileage when you drop it off. I was allotted 150 miles and I went over by 24 miles. However, Jalisa tried to charge me for going over 63 miles. I have no idea how she came up with that number other than she just made it up to scam me because I went with her when she went to inspect the car and I even told her "I went over by just over 20 miles." So we actually discussed it. That would have been the moment to say, "No, you went over by 63 miles." Instead she just wrote it on the contract without mentioning it and charged me for it. I actually paid for it too without realizing the overcharge but caught it afterwards. Jalisa went to go double check and as she saw me also going to check she immediately agreed and refunded my money. SCAMMERS! Also, they don't do drop offs after they close. Their parking lot is gated and it is locked when they close so you're forced to return it the next day. If you don't discuss this at the time of rental then they charge you for renting it an extra day. Stay away from this place. Go to another car rental place. read more
