This was by far the most frightening and unacceptable rental car experience I have ever had. After…read morereceiving the vehicle from National Car Rental in Atlanta, I discovered a firearm left in the back seat and what appeared to be blood on the driver-side door. I was genuinely terrified for my life. I had no idea who the firearm belonged to, whether it had been involved in a crime, or why there appeared to be blood inside the vehicle. No customer should ever be placed in a situation this dangerous. National clearly failed to properly inspect and clean the vehicle before handing me the keys. This was not a minor cleanliness issue or inconvenience. It was a serious safety failure that could have resulted in devastating consequences. A firearm should never make it through National's vehicle return, cleaning, and inspection process and into the hands of another customer. I am extremely disappointed, disturbed, and traumatized by this experience. National needs to investigate exactly how this happened, take responsibility, and ensure no other customer is ever put in this position. I will never forget how scared I felt, and I would strongly caution others before renting from this location.
