I purchased a Groupon here and had such a great first experience. They are located on the corner of the street so you'll have to find nearby street parking, which came with ease. As you enter, it smells realllllly good - minty and refreshing. The ladies at the front desk checked me in for my appointment and I was directed into a room by Olivia. She was so friendly and talkative which made the wax go by fast and smooth. It was my first time getting a Brazilian and she made it such a memorable experience. Tried sugaring for the first time today and it was so much better than waxing! I had Terra and she was amazing. I was so surprised how normal my skin was when she was done. I regret taking my original review down. I took it down after I got a phone call from Kim saying she wished I called her and relies on her reviews on yelp. It would turn business away... Etc... Offered a free facial. I felt bad but after time has passed and the more I've educated myself about waxing, I need to leave this review because I don't want anyone else to have the same experience I had. On top of not being able to enjoy my vacation in Palm Springs that weekend... I couldnt drink, couldnt get in the pool or hot tub... I got vaginitis from the anti biotics!! Called up to make an appointment and the told them that I am looking for a great massage! The receptionist mentioned that Orlando was great and has been with them for a while and gave him good reviews so I decided to book a massage with him... Upon entering the SPA, it looked clean, nice, and up to date.... Before I got on the massage table, told Orlando (massage Therapist) I would like a slow and relaxing/therapeutic massage and to focus more on the neck are and shoulders areas... Once I got on the table Orlando (Massage Therapist) slapped on alot of oil and procecceded to massage at a very quick pass with his hands and elbows over my neck shoulders and back, which felt very uncomfortable!!! I told him to slow down...He did a little bit, but after 2 minutes he was at the same fast pace... 5 minutes into the massage I was almost going to get off the table and leave...but I stayed to see if it would get beter... Let's say the massage didn't get any better! 30 minutes into the massage I couldn't wait to get off the table... By the way, I use to do massages in the past for over 10 years and know what constitutes a great massage and this massage wasn't even close!!!. Out of about 40 massage I have had in my lifetime this was one of the worst massages I ever had!!! Massage was poorly executed, didn't seem to listen to me about slowing down, and my neck didn't feel any better after the massage!. After the massage I spoke with Orlando and told him in a calm manner that when doing a massage he should use alot less oil, slow down so he can work the muscles properly and connect with his clients... If you have sensitive skin (like me), don't go to Enviouskin. The type of wax they use here, as explained to me by the lady (whose name we shall conceal - she might call me again on my cellphone, LOL) that did my waxing, doesn't require powder or oil to be applied on your skin. I guess oil and powder helps prevent the wax to peel off the top layer of your skin, like i said, IF YOU HAVE SENSITIVE SKIN. I left this place and didn't take me that long to realize that mine got peeled off. it Is definitely uncomfortable for a couple of days but not the worst waxing experience i had. After reading my first review on this place and eventually asking to be taken down, the lady offered me a free waxing and complementary services because she felt bad. My answer still stands tall. I decided to try this place out because they had a grand opening special. I set up an appointment to have a Brazilian done and upon arrival, I was surprised with a pleasant atmosphere but the location wasn't all that great because you can pass it up while driving. After we settled in, she took me into the room and told me to undress my shorts and lay on the table. It was awkward because she didn't give me anything to cover myself with. We made good conversation throughout the process and after she put the wax on, I started to feel the heat more and more than the first time. I noticed that she DOUBLE DIPPED every time she put the sticks in the wax which really grossed me out and it got me to think if she reuses her wax too because there was a LOT of wax left in the container. The waxing process felt like the first time I got waxed. It hurt very badly compared to the previous session i had. When everything was done, there weren't any hairs left behind on the top except in the labia area. In literally 2 DAYS, I saw and felt hair protruding towards my skin. In 7 days, my hair was growing which freaked me out because I never experienced this in any of my wax results. It was too good to be true for the first day I thought. Kim followed up with me the day before my appointment the next month and I told her I wouldn't be coming back because of the results. It clearly shows that she lacks experience in the field. She apologized and said that it was probably because of the different length that hairs grow. She offered me a 20% discount but it's not even worth a try. Being military I ended up having to work late and didn't cancel and couldn't give them a date to reschedule at the exact second that they called. I even offered to call them back with a reschedule time and date. Not good enough for them. My bad. Ended up with a $45 charge for a service I didn't even get. Patient, thorough, and professional. She puts pressure right after she rips off the strip. She's not all over the place, anticipating where they're going to pull from. I'm very suspicious of several of the 5 star reviewers for this business especially after getting a facial done here. I signed up for a Detox Facial 50 min. Positive: convenient to book appointments online, great location (I love UH!) and the place smells wonderful! Less than positive: the email confirming the appointment had the wrong time and no reply to my request for an email with the correct time. The esthetician, Natasha, needs more practice giving facials. She moves very slow but it's not a relaxing type of slow...I didn't know how to say this to her but the facial ended up being more annoying than relaxing :( I ended up with major greasy hair and my skin felt waxy after this facial. The products left on my face felt sticky and I couldn't wait to get home to wash my face! I wanted to give Enviouskin 5 stars, I really did... but I just wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I did. I took a "me" day off of work and scheduled the Harmony Package - a massage, facial and eye treatment. I was the first appt of the day and was graciously greeted by Paige and the receptionist. The spa is nice enough - good location, was able to park right in front and didn't have any issues getting an appt. However, just to set everyone's expectations - it is tiny, tiny, tiny. Not a big deal as long as it's a good use of space, which it's not bad, but size is sometimes important. My facial was pretty good - I felt fairly relaxed and my skin is in good shape after it. Once that was done, I vacated the room for a couple minutes so Orlando could prep for my massage - both services were done in the same room. He gave a good massage although he seemed to be in a hurry. He moved very quickly the entire time which didn't lend itself to much deep relaxation. Also - he used his forearms a lot and they were a little scratchy, which was a super distraction. Overall - here is my pro/con list: Cons: - spa is so tiny that if the phone rings, another client is in the spa, or even if a bus drives by outside, you can hear it in the treatment room. no bueno if you're looking to really enjoy your time. - there aren't any blinds/shades on the large front window... walking out from a darkened room into full day sunshine is not overly pleasant. I needed my sunglasses while I was still inside. - there were bags of garbage in the shower in the restroom. I'm guessing the shower must be prearranged and isn't included in normal services. - I never got my eye treatment that was supposed to be included in my package - and I didn't realize it until I got home... and my eyes needed it! - water is served in paper dixie cups. you know, the little ones you used to use in the bathroom after you brushed your teeth. (I would suggest classing this up a little... buy some clear plastic cups, use a water pitcher instead of the large water cooler in the corner and cut up some cucumbers or lemons as a garnish. It will really be noticed by your clients!) Pros: - services were done on time (but how many spas actually go long, right?) - reasonable prices - good selection of makeup/facial products for purchase Ultimately, I'm not entirely sure I'll go back. There are SO many spas to choose from that because my Cons list was larger than my Pros list, I think I can do better. After taking the "plunge" so to speak at Le Wax in North Park I moved to Uni Heights and wanted to support the businesses in my neighborhood. Through Groupon, I discovered a quaint little shop, and Paige who inspired me through her personalized care and service to claim Envious Skin as my new place for intimate waxing. Being a person with sensitive skin, Paige was kind enough to listen to my concerns and responded by assuring me that the products used would not give me any trouble, pending my commitment to following the after care instructions she provided. I invested in a product Paige recommended that is carried at Envious Skin which has proven to be very successful for me. I recently noticed that Envious Skin had another Groupon offer posted which included one-year of waxing services for $179 but was only offered to new clients. Upon calling the shop, the receptionist apologetically informed me that in fact the offer was for new clients only. My only suggestion is that perhaps this offer be applicable to existing clients as I question how many new clients would be willing to commit to a years worth of services at an establishment they've never been to. The shop recently went through an expansion which resulted in a larger space that is beautifully decorated and even more inviting, if possible than before. I'm so grateful to have found Paige and can't imagine going anywhere else for my personal care needs. I came here because I had a groupon for a Brazilian wax. Its a cute and cozy place, and they always make you feel welcomed. The staff is extra friendly, but not in an overwhelming kind of way. The wax itself was one of the better waxes I've experienced. Quick, thorough, comfortable, and very little pain. Haven't had other services here, but I would recommend this place for their Brazilians. They currently have a promotion going on--$25 for first time clients. I'm pretty picky about this stuff -- I have had sub-par spa treatments before in LA, so it's not just something I jump into. I have been going there since last May. My first aesthetician was Katie, the second was Nicole. Both have been amazing. My skin looks worlds better than it did this time last year. Nicole worked on me last Sunday. I came in looking haggard with a massive PMS zit. . . and I'd picked it. She totally worked me over, and within 2 days, it was GONE. Yeah, I said it -- GONE. She gets in and gets the nasties out -- it can be intense with some of the peels, but to me, that means it's working. I had an amazing scub that left me feeling divine, and after that, a massage by Orlando. It was my first time seeing him, and I honestly don't do massages as often as I do facials, but I will definitely be re-booking. He has magic hands. Kim, the owner, is originally from Germany, and that's where she trained. For their licensing, it's three years of school -- much deeper and more intensive training than provided here in the U.S. Kim's superior training shows in everything she does and I can't be the only one to notice; while many spas / personal treatment facilities have a revolving door of ownership, Kim has actually taken over the space next-door to expand her business! (Construction is in the final stages as I write this.) Kim's detox facial was divine. From my hands to my scalp I was pampered and revived, glowing happy cheeks as evidence. My following visit was for an hour massage with Orlando and it was amazing. What I enjoyed about both Kim and Orlando is how they tell you what they will do and then ask, "is that okay?" I liked knowing my comfort - both physical and emotional - were a priority for them. Orlando is supremely gracious in his "handling" of limbs he keeps tabs on your satisfaction with the amount of pressure he uses. Afterwards he also gave me some pointers about the proper way to sit in front of a laptop. I'm going back this week for another massage and I'm sending my man for one too! It was the least painful wax I've ever gotten! On top of that I'm the smoothest I've ever felt! I have been looking for a new spot to replace my old one. The shop is located in the heart of University Heights; it has a few parking spots in front for customers, which is great. The Spa is small but works. I love that initial smell you when you walk into a well-maintained spa. It is clean, calming and refreshing all at the same time. The receptionist was on a call but quickly made eye contact, and mentioned she would be right with me. Lets get to the good stuff: Overall I was happy with the products that were used and the esthetician because I went back... BUT 1. I felt like the girls were really bad used car salesman. They upsell like a Mother** in here. 2. While I was trying to enjoy my pumpkin facial, I could hear the other employees laughing and carrying on... So my calming, relaxing facial was interrupted by bursts of laughter and talking. If you work there you know how thin the walls are so keep it down so I can enjoy my $75.00 facial 3. Which leads me to my next gripe: I bought a $50.00 spa week special, but it seemed as if you had to "upgade" or customize my facial make it worth it. If you are going to advertise a $50.00 facial, that is the bare bones and will do nothing for my face but take my make up off and do a few extractions let me know ahead of time so I can make an informed choice on whether I want to come in for a customized facial. My first visit was not as pleasant as I had hoped and I was in dire need of a waxing. Kim called me to speak to me about my experience. After, I definitely felt better! I love coming here for Brazilian waxes. Kim the owner, who also does the waxing, is amazing! She is so sweet and does a great job! The wax is $25 for first time customers and $40 after that, but it is worth every penny. She is sweet, professional, and clean. She uses new sticks everytime and the wax is hot but doesn't burn, and you don't come out feeling all sticky and gross. I have had Brazilian waxes done before by one lady who I can describe as, "brutal" compared to my experience today. The place is easy to overlook since its a small building and the parking is limited, but it is overall a great place. Clean, nice, relaxing environment. Each staff member was very friendly and was very warm. That's a big plus for me. Once I encounter rude staff I leave right away. They exceeded my expectations- It was a quick 15min session. I went to this place on the recommendation of a good friend of mine, and now I love this place! I was nervous about scheduling a brazilian wax at a place I hadn't been to yet, so I tried the place out with a brow wax first, and totally loved it. It was the fastest brazilian wax I've ever had, no girl wants to endure that kind of pain for too long, especially when you're pregnant and your skin is more sensitive. I like to start my day at EnviouSkin with a complimentary mimosa. I have been going here since September of 2014. I started off with getting Brazilian waxes, but then got some occasional under-arm waxing, and facials. I have since moved on to sugaring instead of waxing for the skin benefits. The price of $65 is reasonable considering the prices in other locations. I have been going with Alexandra "Allie" every time I go. I had a great time the first time I came here and ever since have made sure to see her. She is very friendly and makes me feel comfortable. I try to take advantage of their Enviousweek that they have twice a year (April & October), because they have unbelievable deals during that time. You do not want to miss it. Having never had a facial before, I did not know what to expect. There were tough questions like "what do you wash your face with?" but the people asking them were salt-of-the-earth nice. So the experience was excellent. I think. I mean, I've never done this before so I don't know. But I cannot imagine the experience getting any better. The room was full of high-tech gadgets, many of which made noise, and a massage table. Done. Worth the price of admission right there. But it got better. My Esthetician (I had to look that up) was Paige and she had the softest hands I've ever felt. She was so nice and so quiet and the things she did to my face, no woman has ever done before. If I weren't taken I'd consider making her Paige Six (but only for the comedic effect). OK, so she steamed my face, then moved the steam off with a fan. Then I fell asleep. There was lots of rubbing. Some tingling. A hot rock or three. I woke up holding two and had one under my neck -- and THAT was good. I could get used to this. At the end it was close to $100 with tip, which she deserved, and worth every penny. My problem now is making sure to keep facials special so I don't get addicted. That and not telling anyone. Came here back in March and was very disappointed that Haley didn't follow what I wanted her to do with my nether region jungle. Could have been partially my fault as I agreed to let her trim my mound at her suggestion, but she pretty much removed all the hair on it, which as a middle aged lady, I don't like. I just like a trim up on the labia, and in the groin areas. Well, she made it right when she said please come back at any time and she would do it for free. She not only did a great job on my return trip, but she was supa dupa nice. I just think that most of the young girls that do this type of service, can't believe anyone still wants any hair on their mound. But I just don't care to look like a 12 yr old girl! I realized that I never updated my review here and I did return back! I returned here for another waxing with Haley and was very pleased with the results. Not only was she again very quick but she also double and triple checked everything to make sure it was to my liking. The renovations here looked great as well and just like my first visit, very sanitary (huge plus)! The only reason I have yet to return is because of pricing. Many waxing places I notice will have discounts for first time customers which is great... but I have always felt that it is more effective to have discounts for returning customers. Reward the people that stay loyal to you and continue to book is how I see it. Needless to say I have found a salon with the same level of sanitation and friendliness that DOES offer discounts to returning customers. Since this is something I want to be able to do every 4-5 weeks, that really helps my wallet! read more
