When I sent videos and photos to the owner explaining what happened, she said she wasn't liable. She then ghosted me and refused to answer me (she has read receipts) and she ignored my calls. We now have to pay for the water line to be replaced, our hardwood floors under the fridge are ruined, and I have to get the carpet in the basement cleaned. I submitted a complaint to the BBB and owner still didn't work to resolve the issue. Thank goodness for my credit card company going after her for a refund at least.

I just got an email from Goodrich Chimney offering discounted services to get ready for fall. I…read morerealized I never wrote a review on the work I contracted with them to complete. Bought a house and the chimney was in disrepair. They suggested I put a sleeve in the chimney stack instead of repairing / replacing the bricks that could allow embers to gain access to other parts of the house. Could be a huge issue if the house were to burn right? The sleeve was inserted, but now the smoke from the fireplace would fill the room. When I asked for them to come and fix it, they just told me that I would have to start the fire directly in the middle of the fireplace. That didn't work, so I stopped using the fireplace for a bit of time. Later, I went to a different company. They did an inspection and noted several issues with the sleeve installed by Goodrich. Once you see the photos below, it makes complete sense why the smoke was coming back into the house! Why didn't they cut the excess length off the sleeve and allow the smoke to draft completely. Even so, the diameter of the sleeve was also questionable - so everything they did was just money down the drain. I absolutely cannot recommend this company and wish I had read Yelp before hiring them.

Not only was the installation done well, but they were the most courteous, clean and informative folks to work in our house. Prior to the install, the spent time with us to ensure we got a quality insert and even came by a second time to make absolutely certain that it did. When I thought that perhaps the insert was not performing right during the seasoning fires, James came back and did a thorough testing and identified the issue (me. I wasn't operating it correctly) I wish they did more that fireplaces because professional, honest and fair contractors are not easy to find these days and these guys are special!!

I contacted chimney sweeps of America to install an electric fireplace. The initial quote I…read morereceived was wrong, and included electrical work that was already done and was clearly visible. When I contacted this company to point out that I didn't need to be charged for an outlet and separate line to be installed for my electric fireplace since it was already present, the office doubled down claiming that I did not have an outlet installed. They did not believe me at all until I sent a picture of a very obvious electrical outlet. I ordered an electric fireplace that I wanted and they said they were willing to "install" the electric fireplace that I wanted for an increased labor fee, which I initially really appreciated. I then came to find out their installation involved simply leveling the unit, it was not fixed into place in any way, and actually almost fell out of the fireplace when my dog bumped into it. Because they didn't fix it into place, it makes a horrible sound during heating because it vibrates unevenly. Apparently this "leveling" is all that installation involves, for over $1000. I was told that the face plate for the fireplace would come and would be installed within 1.5 weeks of this leveling, possibly sooner. I paid for this all up front upon the leveling of the unit. Three weeks later, I called the office to ask why they hadn't contacted me yet, and they said they forgot to tell me that their supplier for the face plate had broken production equipment leading to a delay. So now it's weeks later and I just got the plate installed today. Meaning for 3 weeks my electric fireplace could have just fallen out. The end result is also poor. The faceplate that was installed is uneven and bows out a ton. I can fit my pinky finger into it. If you push on the fireplace the gap can be closed but slowly comes back. TLDR- triple check your quotes from this company and don't trust the timelines they give you, and the end result is probably not worth the price tag. There are certain things I would recommend having them do, like insulating a flue. But I would never recommend this company for electric fireplace installation. I really regret not just doing the work myself because it really is as easy as installing any other appliance.
