Especially yummy when you're hungover like my husband i were. i ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and i was expecting bland food. i was wrong. it was full of flavor and it was actually moist. it was also topped with freshly sliced avocado and grilled onions. i got the skinny strawberry shake but it's tastes too good to be "lo cal". i cannot personally vouch for my husband's burger, but if he's nodding his head in approval as he is eating, that usually means he's in food heaven. Great food, great staff! I'm visiting from New York and was told to try these burgers. I'm glad I listened! The burgers are exactly as advertised, just wish I had gone the whole wheat bun route instead of white bread. Vanilla shake was delicious and thick. The fries tasted great although as anywhere you go, sometimes they're oily/greasy. The manager walked around and spoke with us, we told him about the fries and he brought us a brand new batch of fries on the house. If I ever come back to Chicago I will definitely come back and I will be back before I go back to NYC. I would compare them to Five Guys Burgers just healthier (I mean burgers fries aren't the healthiest option, you know?). read more

I cant even begin to describe how delicious the burgers are here! I have tried both burger and turkey burger and both have come out perfectly cooked and well seasoned. You can definitely taste the difference here with the quality of meat. Sometimes turkey can have a bland taste but this was exceptional. Those who prefer Shake Shack burgers over Epic is just frustrating to hear as Epic is so much better. The fries alone made the choice for me! read more

I never write reviews so you know the experience must have been amazing or horrible. Unfortunately this experience was horrible. We ordered 2 burgers, fries, and drinks. But when my meal came out there was a huge piece of hair in it, I called the server back right away and she didn't say a word, was not apologetic at all just took the tray and ran back. We normally would have left right away, but we walked here with three kids from millennium park and the kids were exhausted. So my husband began eating and almost completely finished his meal when another server came with my meal about 10-15 minutes later, again no apology. Just threw the food on my table and left. I was really annoyed at this point and asked to see a manager. Turns out the original server who brought my food, Linda was the manager. She was so rude when I asked if I'd be compensated for my burger for the fact that there was hair in it and that I had to wait almost 25 minutes. She's like I'll give you a $5 coupon for next time, I made you a new burger so I don't get what you want. I told her that was horrible customer service and she said well if you don't want it I'll return it. So she threw away my freshly made burger and gave me a refund. Linda needs to learn about customer service, and unless you want hair in your food and to be treated poorly is recommend never eating at this location. read more

Although only four entree options are available, my recommendation remains the tasty junior epic burger with grilled onions, cheddar, lettuce and tomato. A laundry list of options are available atop your burger as well, but I generally stick to a more minimalist style as they stack much larger than expected. Then grab yourself a bag of fries and your set. Among the delicious burgers, Epic burger also stocks only organic ketchup and biodegradable disposable silverware, a huge unexpected bonus. When you walk into this South Loop gem you are immediately taken aback, this is not your average neighborhood burger joint. The interior exudes a "modern/hip" vibe. It is contemporary and welcoming. When this place first opened I was in love. Sure it is a little pricier, however the serving sizes are decent and the food is super tasty. However the customer service has significantly gone downhill. Almost to the point that I would rather go to Panera or Potbellys 1) All of the workers there must be best friends or classmates or something. I've had to wait 5 minutes while being the only one in line because all of the cashiers and cooks had more important non work things to discuss. When I politely stepped up to the counter to hint that I was more than ready to order the cashier just sighed and reluctantly took my order in a very hurried fashion. 2)I was in there one time and it wasn't super busy. A homeless man came in and started soliciting customers including myself. I looked to the counter in hopes that a worker would politely tell the man to leave. The two girls working saw the man and walked to the back of the kitchen. I'm sorry but if you don't feel comfortable enough asking someone to leave then you should not be working unless a braver person is there. I ended up asking the man to leave. I've never had the burger because I can't get past the chicken sandwich. It is without a doubt the best chicken sandwich in the world. You can do no better. The wheat bun and epic sauce compliment the perfectly tender meat perfectly. Also, the peanut butter milk shake is superb. For a made fresh meal it doesn't take long. Typically 5-10 minutes. I wish they could deliver early enough to my office (by 11am no later). It would mean several hundred more dollars a month for them for the amount of people we would order for. Someday I will have the burger but for now I will keep loving the chicken. read more

As other reviewers have noted, I wouldn't call it an "epic" burger, so my search for the best burger in town continues... The burgers are large, but the flavor doesn't stand out. I appreciate the options for the patty (beef, chicken, turkey, portabello). There is an extra charge for bacon, your choice of cheese, and a fried egg. Toasted wheat buns are available and balance the greasiness (and yes, it is pretty messy) of the burger, but it's still not enough to take the burger over the top. Their fries are good though! Fresh cut fries, crisp, with a sprinkling of sea salt. I give Epic Burger an extra star because it strives to be better quality food for a reasonable price in the South Loop. I appreciate their mission as honorable (natural/organic ingredients whenever possible, antibiotic-free proteins, etc.) The staff is friendly too. Bottom line, it's a decent option for a burger and fries in the South Loop, just not at epic level yet. read more

Had pretty much lived next door to this burger joint for a few years, but just went back with great company for the first time in awhile. We had a wonderful time laughing it up with our comedic and very entertaining server Isaiah. I always enjoy an Epic Burger meal. In fact, I probably had the most enjoyable burger I have EVER had in my life there on one occasion. The sauce is amazing and is what makes their burgers special to me. Also, I recommend any of the shakes since they are all delicious. The staff is very courteous and attentive. The only downside is it is a little pricier than your normal fast foodish place but its probably comparable to a Five Guys. read more

I went here for the first time and was a little weary. Burger places aren't really ideal for vegetarians. I went in with an open mind and saw they offered a portobello burger. I must say... it was pretty excellent. Not your typical frozen veggie patty from a drive-thru. The toppings were yummy, and I appreciated the varieties of cheese they offered. My meal was EASILY a 6-napkin job, but it was delicious nonetheless. The staff was super friendly and was able to knock out a huge lunch crowd with speed. Very deserving of the 5 stars! Fries are good, but should get more for that price. My burger patty was in 3 pieces, and kept falling off the bun. The wheat bun was delicious, but it's 4x the thickness of the burger, giving a disproportionate flavor. Menu layout looks weird to newbies. You order at the counter and they bring you the food, never to be seen again. I wish they offered awesome salads! Drink selection sucks (pay $3 for a bottle of iced tea or Izze, or limited fountain drinks.) Burger ad-ons are steeply priced - a $6 burger now costs $8 when you add cheese and bacon. Add another $6 for a smoothie or milkshake, plus the large Chicago tax, and your lunch is pushing 20 bucks. I hate to say it, but for that price I could go next door to Panera and get a sandwich, soup, drink & dessert. Epic Burger just is not THAT good. read more
