Good atmosphere. Good customer service. Seems like locals frequent here. I'm not a beer drinker but I did buy a flight. While I didn't fall in love with anything. The group of beer drinkers I was with didn't have any complaints. I will say that I didn't stop freaking out the whole time about parents leaving there children without oversight just trying to play with strangers dogs. It didn't appear that some of these kids have proper training around unfamiliar dogs. But that isn't epidemics problem... at least not until one gets bit. Small snacks are available. Limited other drinks are as well which could use some additions to but I would imagine this is what you'd expect at any other place like e.a. More thn anything I found this place to be rather cheap on the price side. Surprised they weren't busier. But location probably has something to do with it... I like the local though! read more

I first visited Epidemic Ales for a Yelp Elite Event a while back. I had a lot of fun at the event and got to try basically every beer on their menu. The space seemed like a great place to hang out, and I was really impressed by their generosity. A few weeks ago, my wife saw on Facebook that Epidemic Ales had Girl Scout cookie pairings with their beer flights, so we decided to check it out. We arrived pretty close to opening time on a Saturday and were able to get our drinks really quickly and get a table. It's a good thing we got there when we did though because the place was packed about an hour and a half later. By the time we left (around 2:30), there were close to 50 people there. This created a bit of a problem since there was only one bartender. Either they didn't anticipate that level of a crowd or just happened to be understaffed that day. The flight featured the following pairings: -Affliction Amber Ale with Samoas: This one didn't really work and really seemed to be about making sure that Samoas were part of the flight since they are so popular -Post Mortem Porter with S'mores cookie: This was my favorite pairing. The coffee taste of the porter nicely complemented the chocolate in the cookie. -Peanut Butter Stout with Tagalongs: Eh, this was too on the nose. Of course, peanut butter and peanut butter go together. -Stout with Thin Mints: I thought this was a good combo even though I'm not a fan of Thin Mints. We really enjoyed eating the cookies while sipping the beer. Some of the combos seemed forced, but I think it was successful for the most part. After that, we tried the Abomination Hazy DIPA which was really good. The beer selection at Epidemic Ales is extensive but definitely skews more towards darker beers and only has one IPA and one IPL. In terms of atmosphere, Epidemic Ales is a really great place to hang out, especially with children. They have a whole play area for kids, and there were plenty of families there that day. We brought our baby who was 4 weeks old at the time, and felt comfortable having her there. They also had a food truck outside which was serving pizzas. Overall, Epidemic Ales is a really great place to hang out and have a few beers, especially if you are a fan of dark beers. read more

I went to this place on a fluke. Best beer selection I've seen hands down (and I go to breweries every weekend). On top of that, the bartender was cool af. Coming from the Berkeley area where everything has gotten so expensive, I was shocked when closing out as my 6 beer flight, which is by far the best flight I've ever had, was only 13 bucks. The story of Epidemic Ales is pretty awesome. It's about six friends and family members that loved beer so much that they started brewing their own out of their homes. And, within five years they had perfected their craft (beer) and during the first weekend of January 2016 they opened their taproom in North Concord. An added cool factor is that they were obviously watching The Walking Dead (TWD) while draining wort from the mash because their brewery is zombie-themed. As a beer lover myself, I commend them for accomplishing what all beer drinking aficionados have dreamt about at least once or twice between gulps. After all, it is quite the risk to turn a hobby into an investment! I first heard about Epidemic Ales when I moved to the East Bay from Los Angeles last summer and started adding local Yelp friends so that I could find great eateries and drinking establishments. Among the friends that accepted my friend requests was Erin S. who was Gold Elite at that time (unfortunately when you start a business you lose your Elite status - Erin is one of the Concord-Six). She told me to keep an eye out for the brewery and even told me that Epidemic Ales would be dog-friendly. Let me "paws" here and say that any establishment that is dog-friendly gets bonus points in my book. And from my experiences, dog-owners tend to be the most fervent beer lovers. Therefore, it is a no-brainer that most paw-some breweries allow dogs. When we visited the brewery on Friday January 15, 2016 there were five beers on tap. They were the Lager at World's End, Nightshade Bourbon Barrel-Aged Vanilla Stout, Zombrew IPA, Batiquitos Brown English Ale, and the Wicked Ailment Pale Ale. Pretty much, they have a flavor for everyone! I just hope that they brew a sour or saison in the future. The wife and I really loved the vanilla and bourbon accents of the Nightshade because everyone knows how much we love bourbon because it is pretty much stronger beer. We also enjoyed the fruity Wicked Ailment. To help wash down the beer, Epidemic Ales provides complimentary pretzel snacks and they allow outside food. Occasionally they have food trucks. For now they are open Thursday through Sunday and closed Monday through Wednesday. Be sure to check their hours so that you don't end up "unhoppy"! I don't know if a zombie apocalypse is imminent, but if there is a zombie epidemic, I am heading to Epidemic Ales so that I can be Glenn and drink out the "world's end". Gonna' have to knock off one of the owners "Ricktator-style" though because anyone that knows TWD formula knows that there can only be one Asian guy. LOL. * Just got an email that they will be releasing a beer during San Francisco Beer Week on January 23rd called Squishy & The Wig Pale Ale. The beer is a tribute beer to two of the brewery's beloved doggie friends. Simply paw-tastic! * Epidemic Ales is located down the street from another dog-friendly Concord brewery, Black Diamond Brewery. With dog-friendly Hop Grenade in downtown Concord and dog-friendly Eureka over by Willow Pass Road, one can argue that Concord is becoming quite the dog-and-beer destination! read more

We attended the soft opening of Epidemic Ales yesterday. The six-pack of owners are doing what they love and it shows! They had five of their beers on tap -- Lager at World End, Wicked Ailment (American Pale Ale), Zombrew (IPA), Batiquitos Brown, and Nightshade (Barrel-Aged Stout). All are excellent, although I am partial to Zombrew and we left with a steel growler of that one. Officially open in early 2016, I recommend that you bookmark them for a visit! With Black Diamond Brewing Company around the corner, and EJ Phair, Hop Grenade, and Pig & Pickle (Ale Industries) in Todos Santos Plaza just a few minutes away, Concord has become quite the destination for beer fans! I can appreciate a good beer from time to time, and when I do, I ALWAYS want to make sure that I'm drinking something good. I'm not a beer connoisseur (like fellow Yelper John B.) but I do know a good brew, and the humble start of Epidemic Ales drew me to drive out of my way to be a part of their Zombrew-copalypse! When I pulled up on a Friday night amidst all the surrounding office building warehouse/obscure tenant buildings, I saw their lights on, garage open, dogs around and tap fresh. It was like I walked into someone's living room as people were playing Jenga, some had their dogs and they all were enjoying a casual night with beer, pretzel snacks and a large TV. You walk right into their taproom which is very well-kept for a brewery, and are able to taste their 6 brews. My brother and I opted for their Nightshade (barrel-aged vanilla bourbon stout) and Zombrew (IPA). I'm a fan of dark stouts and vanilla, and could see how the bourbon definitely makes this quite the strong brew. The Zombrew was actually a really nice, slightly sweet and not bitter ale and was easy to drink. A glass goes for $5 each which is such a steal, and a flight for $12 of all 6 of their brews. I love how there is a craft beer trend coming to this side of the Bay. With Concord's Hop Grenade and Pig & the Pickle, Epidemic Ales seems like they'll fit right in, bringing their own special brews into town. Not sure if I'd drive out of my way here again, but I look forward to what they have in store for the near future! P.S. They also have bottles you can buy on the go! Did the Martinez, Concord and W.C. Breweries this past weekend and will have to say product wise this place had a slight edge on the others. Everyone is going gangbusters with hazy right now and tried a taste of Abomination and thought it was a solid contender with all the others I tried this past weekend. However, I was wanting something different from my norm and switched up to a lager. I typically stray away from lagers probably due to all the mass produced "domestic" beer I drank during college. Lager at Worlds End was a nice gentle reminder that I can be just as happy being less hoppy. The biscuity crispness had just enough meat on the bone to really have me pause and enjoy a Lager again. I think more lagers are in my future. Too bad I wasn't in town when the taco truck was here on Tuesday. It would have paired perfect with a taco or two...or six. read more

Got a sample flight & it was pretty epic! This place is in the cuts, which means it isn't by any stores or resturants. However, upon arriving the place was packed. My friends & I each got a flight which consists of 8 glass, 5oz each. It was pretty perfect to see what type of beers I like, since I usually drink hard liquor. My favorite was the Strawberry Milkshake IPA & Brown Ale. It was a good taster & to feel a light buzz. The beer are price reasonable & this place is chill. I felt welcome & relaxed. They have tons of games available to play. We played big jenga & corn hole. Definitely recommend & highly will return. Another great deal from Groupon. Two flights and two take home glasses for ELEVEN DOLLARS. The lady and I arrived exactly when it opened and were welcomed with a plethora of activities to do: Two Jenga tables, card and board games, a pool table, corn hole. They even have a kids room filled with more toys and games. There is plenty of room, seating and standing. By 4:30, just an hour later after we arrived, it was packed. It was also nice to see other people taking advantage of the Groupon deal as well. Food trucks are only on Saturdays but they have small snacks for sale and pretzels for freeeeeee. Best tasters were the Nightshade stouts! Chocolately, malty, hints of coffee. Great beer. We really liked how their flights were not cheap with the pour. This was a great find thanks to my Groupon I purchased for my friend that adores beer. Me, not so much but I wanted to cheer her up and found a great deal for a flight tasting of beer and a souvenir glass to take home. Situated in a business park of warehouses it's very unassuming and easy to miss but thankfully they have a sign up by the parking lot. It's a small brewery but friendly staff. They even have a small room designated for the littles if you bring them in tow, equipped with some games and a tv! The flight had at least 8 beers generously filled. We didn't finish them. They have some snacks you can purchase. The lager was pretty good for a light beer, a pint of that runs $5 specialty beers $6. The best thing, they usually have a food truck of some sort T-Sun. Sadly we went on a Monday and were starving. Okay, from now until I believe Oct Taco Tuesday's here are ON FIRE when OG Tacos are here. They don't have a Yelp page but should! They are usually at Antioch Fairgrounds but have been here on T for the past few weeks from 4-8 or until they sell out which they do every time. We get here at 4 and the line is already deep. My girlfriend and I came at a good time when there was not very many people there (530p on a Sunday). We got each of our flights and some bomb-ass spicy peanuts they offer. The bartender was nice too; he brought over a bowl of water and some dog treats for our dog. (oh btw the brewery is dog friendly inside and outside). They have corn hole, a pool table, board games and large Jenga. Check em out! It gets busy though so it may be a hit or miss dependant on how it is for that day. read more

The rumors are true - this place rocks. Made it here one hour before close on a Saturday and there were just a few seats available luckily for us. It's definitely not as big as fellow east bay breweries like Fieldwork or Drake's. Service was really friendly and efficient. They offer up a flight with all their beers on tap, which we opted for since we weren't sure when/if we'd be in Concord again. If it wasn't for their Groupon deal I probably would have never found this place but I am so happy that I did. The people that work here are really nice especially Greg who bartends on Thursdays and Sam, the artist of the beautiful masterpiece in the back room. If you come and see the huge painting of the Epidemic Ales logo, that was all Sam. Also, I'm pretty sure if you're a beer person you'll find your favorite one cause they have a wide variety from lagers to stouts. I'll tell you about my favorite one in just a minute. First, the Groupon deal is amazing! Two flights and two take home pint glasses all for $24.50. Regular price for a flight is $16, that's 42% so just think about the savings. There are three different deals on Groupon but I bought the two flights for date night with my boyfriend and we had so much fun. Located near the drive in movie theater and Kinders in Concord. It's literally tucked in between Industrial Way so just look for their sign on the sidewalk to turn into their driveway. Inside you'll find TVs, big Jenga blocks, board game, tables, chairs, and the bar. The best thing about sitting at the bar is that they have bag hooks! Yes I know, bag hooks? But I love places that have bag hooks. I don't have to take another seat just to place my bag. Now let's talk about the beers. So the flight contains 8 different types of beers. From left to right it goes from light to dark. For each beer, they have info cards which is very unique because it tells you what exactly you're drinking and how it was made in the warehouse. The names of each beer is also interesting as it is geared towards the apocalypse so if you're a fan of Walking Dead, Zombies, you'll love it. - Lager at World End - Traditional pale lager with a crisp. The taste reminds me of biting into an apple slice. - Seismic Saison - Tarte. - Bella Donna - Very, very hoppy. - Patient Zero - Hoppy with citrus, passion fruit, berry, grapefruit and tangerine notes. - Affliction - Tastes like an Amber Ale. - Red Plague - Reminds me of coffee when I first took a sip. - OG Nightshade - Roasty, chocolate stout. - Nightshade - Hints of vanilla. An interesting fact about this one is that it took 4 to 6 months to make because they age it in a bourbon barrel with vanilla. I work in Concord, CA. Not the most exciting place to work in the SF Bay Area but you could say it is up and coming. Thank goodness I'm steps away from Building B (Epidemic Ale Brewery) and when I hear a Project team say there is a meeting in Building B at 4 or 4:30 I'm going to make sure I don't miss it. Epidemic Ale is tucked away in an Industrial park and it does not have a big sign out in front. I guess you can smell the hops aroma from the open roll-up door. When I entered, I saw a wall with eight beers on tap, I ordered the Affliction Amber Ale (they have a percent alcohol on the chalkboard) and the lager. Very flavorful and home brewed at it's best.. Love this place!!! Great location. Easy parking. Great home-like feeling. A variety of truly unique beers. Been coming here a long time. Bartenders are all very helpful and friendly. Very " come as you are" kind of place. I don't care who you are--you'll fit right in here! Indoor and outdoor seating available, they have a pool table too. Seems to be very kid and dog friendly. Sometimes the music can be a bit loud and it can be crowded/loud thurs, fri and sat nights, so if you need a more low key environment I'd avoid those times. Most other times are super chill. Check their Instagram to see what food truck is there. Some of them are great, some of them need improvement. Go easy, drink water, eat something and be safe!!! The beers are so good you'll want to guzzle em down but they are on the strong side so it can make the next morning a tad rough!! They really will sneak up on you in a way most beers won't! And it is definitely a true craft operation, there are some deviations in the taste of the beer from time to time! It's located off of Port Chicago road just down the street from Black Diamond brewery if you're interested in doing a beer tasting outing. The owners are behind the bar and can give you more information than you knew you wanted. You can't go wrong with $5 pints and giant jenga. It's relatively quiet till you have families coming in to get food from CE & then it's a playground of Lit'l humans knocking down barrel, playing jump rope with the chain & pissing of the dog who didn't like all the nonsense.
