Anytime I am in LA I like to go into Erewhon because the AC is always so really nice and I love seeing what they have on their shelves. The weekend we came up was probably one of the most brutal days, the humidity was so bad and I needed a bubble water. Everyone was really friendly and they had a large assortment of pressed juices and water. I ended up picking up a juice and a sparkling water, I really wanted to get hot food but we were going to have dinner so I opted out. Next time I will definitely get a smoothie to see if seamoss is really good for me. The sparkling water was extra spicy which I really appreciated and when I drank the juice at home it was so refreshing. I'm not sure if my memory is wrong, but I don't remember the Strawberry Glaze Smoothie being this sweet. I got the Strawberry Glaze from this location, and it was extremely sweet. I didn't enjoy it as much as I did at the other location. My boyfriend got the Salted Maple Cowboy Brew, and he said it was good! So maybe go for that if you like coffee. The parking structure is kind of a pain. It's an underground structure, and you have to pay to park, but you can get your parking validated at Erewhon. Food was mid for $37, as my colleague says it's HIGHWAY ROBBERY. Service is typical as usual and the inside is clean and organized. They had 2 vendors providing sampling of drinks. Parking is pay per hour underground. I tried their chicken plate for $25/per lb. However, when I first asked the server what the $25 entails, he said it was one price for 1 meat and 2 sides in which case was chicken. Beef or fish would be slightly more expensive. When I got to checkout, I realized I was informed incorrectly as it was priced per pound. Def recommend ordering the meats separately for the higher rate per pound and veggies and sides separately as well so they'll be charged accordingly as veggies are cheaper per lb. I can speak for their delicious, terrifically healthy hot bar of food options, as all of that for which I've had here are quite good. In particular, I love their white meat BBQ chicken, turmeric rice, and roasted broccolini--which will run $25 per pound when all are packed in a to-go container. They have a great selection of artisanal waters too. Great lunch place, and good value for maintaining a healthy eating regimen. The Miso Cod came in perfect texture, being so moist and extremely flavorful even until the center part. The buffalo cauliflower gave that slappin' spicy kick that made me sweat yet kept wanting more bites. The tofu got me surprised by how firm it was and same as the cod, very well seasoned. I went to Erewhon with my friends, and we had such an amazing experience! Everyone was so kind and friendly, everything was well organized, and they even validated our parking, which was a nice bonus. I ordered the mango smoothie without bananas, and it was so good. It had such a refreshing mango flavor, and I'm not sure if the white layer was coconut, but it was absolutely delicious. I would definitely order it again. The only downside is the price. At $22 for a smoothie, it's definitely expensive. Is it worth it? Honestly, yes and no. I have to admit that even though it's a bit pricey here, I paid $80 for 4 smoothies including a tip, the food is amazing! I've tried many of the different soup options and they are yummy and I don't think they are overpriced for the amount of soup. The store itself is pristine inside and they have many staff to help you with anything you require. I mean if and when I move here I will shop there for certain items, They do need to get freshly squeezed wheatgrass to make me happy I was surprised they didn't have it actually. I took a one day trip down to SoCal and had to finally try out Erewhon. Do they have overpriced strawberries that you can find at Whole Foods and Japanese and Asian markets? Yes. Do they have the bags of ice shaped like balls? Yes. Do they have $20 smoothies? Yes. Do they have lots of people shopping there. Yes. Everything I saw on tv and social media was all true. If you don't live in the LA area, I highly suggest checking it out. Maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't. Did I buy myself a Hailey Bieber glazed strawberry smoothie for $21? Yes. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Was it the best strawberry smoothie I ever had? No. I would say, it is worth $11 at most and there are plenty of stores all around that make something similar for much cheaper. I would come back again to try the more inexpensive smoothies and drinks and maybe the hot foods but those were $25 and up for chicken and beef. As I was walking around the market, there are some inexpensive items there that you can find at your local Safeway/Vons/Lucky's/Albertson's/Stater Bros, etc. Just scan the item with your Google Lens and you'll see plenty of places offering the same items for as much as $5 to $10 cheaper. Oh, you also have to pay for parking at the garages nearby. There's probably a validation machine somewhere but I didn't see one anywhere. My friend moved to LA less than two months ago, and everyone she knows has been nagging her to try the "Hailey Bieber Smoothie" (aka Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie) from Erewhon for TWENTY ONE DOLLARS. Gosh, even when I told friends I was visiting LA, they were telling me to drop $20+ on one of their iconic smoothies. This past Saturday afternoon, while we were exploring Culver City, my friend insisted on going to Erewhon for the true "LA experience." This Erewhon is smaller than the other ones I've been to, and I'd describe it as "Whole Foods, but 5x more pricy." Ordering the smoothie was easy since it was through a kiosk, but while we were waiting, there was a whole supply chain of 12 plastic cups waiting to be filled. The server squeezed identical syrups and purees into each one; it appears that the "Gabriela Katseye Smoothie" is the current hype. While my friend got the "Hailey Bieber Smoothie," totally behind on what's "in", everyone and their mothers were already boarding onto the latest trend. Feeling a bit defeated, my friend picked up her no longer trendy smoothie when it was ready. She debated also purchasing the Gabriela smoothie, but as a good friend, I stopped her before she made a rash decision. There's no reason for anyone to spend $40+ on smoothies in one sitting. I had multiple sips of the smoothie, which was really creamy and smooth -- much more than any other store-bought smoothie. I'm not going to lie, it was incredibly good. It was sweet, refreshing, and I'm honestly a sucker for strawberries and coconut-based drinks. Still, I don't think the price is justifiable, but what do I know? Every ingredient is organic and not sure where else I'm going to find something like "sea moss gel" in my smoothies again. I come to this specific Erewhon on a consistent basis mainly because of the hot bar. In my opinion, their hot bar beats out most restaurants in the same price category in terms of taste as well as ingredients. Their food is made extremely well and Id recommend any one to try it. Everything is a la carte and there is also a combo box you can choose from. On the occasion, I shop for interesting local products at the store. The Erewhon branded drinks are also very good with low sugar. At the end of the day I am a big fan of their products as well as hot foods and hot drinks. I would recommend anyone to try it. People may be shocked at the price tag but in reality their prices are on par of not better than most other places when you consider the quality and ingredients with everything they use. I gave in to my curiosity and was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the food and overall experience was. Getting the elephant out of the room.... yes, this is essentially an overpriced grocery store with an expensive smoothie bar. While I still can't rectify the smoothie prices in my head, the overall pricing at the hot bar felt fair for the variety of food and quality of ingredients. This location in Culver City is great. It rained the entire time I was visiting LA, but we parked in the underground parking garage and took the elevator directly into the store and avoided getting wet completely (can't say the same for the rest of the trip). Here's what i got: (i am vegetarian) - Tofu Stick: solid, very flavorful - not super crispy but the tofu is nice and firm - Avocado Cucumber Salad: also delicious, the smashed cucumber and avocado work so well together - super fresh - Miracle garlic noodles: star of the show - amazing flavor but this doesn't fill you up since it's made from a low calorie alternative (not your typical wheat) I spent ~$30 for all of this so definitely on the pricey side but very tasty food! Yes this place is WILDLY expensive compared to a Trader Joe's or Sprouts, but for many of the items and their food quality I think you get what you pay for. I absolutely love their hot bar and soups (keep the jars and you can return for a credit). They don't use terrible seed oils or junkie fillers in their products and you know you are getting a high quality product. Customer service is always top tier and shelves are stocked and organized. Parking anywhere around the Culver City stairs is going to be nutty so if you can I'd recommend popping in on off hours otherwise be prepared to navigate some tight grocery isles. read more

Went in for the first time today FINALLY to see what the hype was about after I had a yoga class right next door, just to add a cherry on top of my great day ! I checked out some salads, some of the hot food & made my way to the infamous smoothie section. I wasn't sure where to order or find the menu so I asked a black female employee who was standing near by, handling a make-up cart where I could find the menu . She graciously smiled & guided me to the computer & paper menu. I met this other black gal who was also there for her first time! We mingled, helped each other through the smoothie menu, ordered 2 smoothies then went to check out some of the sushi. We were standing there deciding on which sushi we wanted & as i looked past her, there was a male employee who was literally reaching in front of her face to put some edamame on the shelf .. I noticed he didn't say one word & she had to shift entirely 1 foot over to the right to allow some space between them because he didn't say excuse me & she had no idea he was even next to her. Mind you, his arm was literally right in front of her face & that's how she noticed he was even there ... We didn't even comment on it but I noticed.. so then we made our way to the cash registers to pay for the sushi. She got called over first, then I did. As I was getting cashed out, I realized I forgot soy sauce, so I asked the lady that was cashing me out " Oh! I didn't notice any soy sauce . Where can I get some or do we pay for it separately ? " her exact answer with the straightest face- no smile "It's over there!" No gesture, no nothing .. so i smiled & said " thank you ", then walked away.. While waiting for our smoothies, I told the gal I was with of the unpleasant response I received from the front clerk. I also reminded her of the way that male employee basically acted like she wasn't standing there while putting the edamame away & she said she was glad I brought it up because she almost didn't think anything of it or how rude it was, until I mentioned the experience with the clerk. We got our smoothies, took photos and parted ways happy w. our smoothie & sushi choices, but also with a bad taste in our mouth .. I stated to her that I'd rather try Whole Foods for the first time if Erewhon treats their customers like this or how i felt today, especially the black customers .. Not assuming all are this way but those 2 specific employees made 2 black women feel less than in especially, Black History Month . We decided to not say anything but i do hope management sees this review to assure service is always provided with a smile as the black employee handling make up did, regardless of her race . She seemed more willing to help w. something so simple . The front clerk stating " it's over there ", without pointing or being specific to the area, seems rude & I felt like she was trying to brush me off .. obviously after she said that, i just walked back over to the section ( assuming that's what she meant ) to find it myself, but she was very unhelpful & rude. I was willing to spend money here today but if it wasn't for the first employee helping & the taste of the food, i WOULD NOT be back & will definitely go to another one next time, but not for quite some time after today . Checked off another item on my LA bucket list! Decided to reward ourselves with Erewhon smoothies after finishing the Culver City steps. We went on a Sunday around 12pm. The parking garage was full so we had to circle around a couple times before we found a spot. Lots of different things to get from Erewhon: to-go meals, smoothies, desserts, groceries, etc. We decided to get the viral Hailey Bieber Strawberry Glaze Skin Smoothie and the Malibu Mango smoothie. Also got some chips Both smoothies tasted clean and healthy. They use fresh fruit - hence why the smoothies are not that sweet. Our group was divided over which smoothie was better - I personally liked the Hailey Bieber smoothie over the Malibu Mango smoothie as it was a bit sweeter. The coconut cream was a nice touch. I give the Hailey Bieber Smoothie a 3.5 and the Mango smoothie a 3 - good size and fresh flavors, however I don't think the smoothies are worth the steep price point ($16) and I could easily make them at home. Have only been here for the smoothie bar. I came in the other day for a strawberry glaze smoothie (their popular drink) and a laufey smoothie and there was no line. I walked right up to the kiosk and placed my order there was another group of 4 coworkers ordering with the cashier. Not that busy for a Wednesday. I waited 20 minutes for my smoothies. The laufey smoothie came out in 10 min not mad about that. But I waited 20 minutes for their most popular smoothie. That waited until they had enough orders and made a huge batch. And don't get me wrong I'm pretty understanding if they were understaffed but there were over 10 people behind that counter. At least 5 people came in after me and got their drink before me. I paid $44 which I knew ahead of time these are expensive smoothies. But why did they wait a whole 15 minutes to start my drink? This is my favorite Erewhon I've been to so far! The smoothie can get really busy, so I recommend putting in an online order. The hot bar, however, is probably the least congested out of all Erewhons, and in general, this store is relatively calm and well-maintained. The staff here are all very friendly too! Yes, Erewhon is expensive, but I personally think the hot bar food is yummier than many restaurants in the area, so I'm happy to pay the premium. I've tried just about everything at the hot bar over the years, and my favorites are the miso black cod, the fried rice, eggplant lasagna, and the salmon is very reliable. I think the Hailey Bieber smoothie, though the most popular, is a bit overrated, though my favorite smoothies are no longer on the menu. Erewhon's housemade pastries are also super yummy! I'm not a huge huge fan of the sushi section, but sometimes the crispy rice sandwich hits. A random note is that I don't get cell service in this store unless I'm right by the door. Parking is available in the Culver Steps lot, and the first hour is free. Erewhon will validate your ticket at check out. The last time I was at Culver Steps, this Erewhon wasn't open yet. I dropped in and picked up 30 oz. jars of New England clam chowder and split pea soup. They charge a $3 deposit/return fee for each jar. The soups were wonderful. I usually prefer thicker soups, but both were very tasty. The clam chowder had lots of clams. Service was polite and pleasant. The store is pretty small and it wasn't crowded because I went early. Everything is neat and attractive and parking is very convenient in the underground lot. This place HAS to be a social experiment. The nastiest smoothies I have EVER had in my life. I tried the vanilla matcha, blue coconut, and Haley Bieber strawberry. The strawberry was the only decent one but nowhere near $20. I would pay $20 for Jamba Juice's White Gummy or Orange Dreamsicle not these boring smoothies. Im glad I experienced it once because now I can judge anyone that is brainwashed by tik tok when they say good things about their smoothies.
