Although the restroom toilets were filthy, blood and pee stains on the toilet with paper towels everywhere. And the customer service wasn't the best, looked like the register lady didn't want to be standing there and when we asked for a cup of water they looked at us like we were in the wrong for asking them a simple thing between their casual coworker conversation. I saw that Erewhon recently opened at Pasadena and decided to stop by to see the store because I've been to other locations and I used to get their pressed juices all the time. The day I went there wasn't a lot of people and I realized the overall store is quite small inside. I went to the smoothie/food area because I was curious what it looked like and immediately there was a worker who looked at me and said "are you ready to order???!" and I said "ohh I'm just looking", unsure if a smoothie was what I wanted to get and was simply enticed by their menu selection. Seconds later, the worker asked again but in a passive aggressive tone, "are you going to order, hurry up so I can put it in??". I was shocked and I looked around and realized there was no one around me so I didn't understand what was their hurry for. Immediately hearing that and seeing their upset facial expression turned me off and I didn't want anything anymore. I browsed the store and noticed it was fully stocked and very organized. I like this place but I probably wouldn't shop here often. It's overpriced but you do get an extremely clean store and super friendly associates. The hot food section is good. I got a burger and a protein with two sides, total came out to $64. Prices are comparable to like Cheesecake Factory but in brown to go boxes. This is where Borders the bookstore used to be. I'm glad something finally became of the Borders retail space that sat empty for so long. Parking is decent if you know where to park, where it is less crowded (which fortunately I do since I'm from the neighborhood). Store is clean and well stocked. A lot of same items are also sold at Whole Foods for less $$$ (never thought I'd say that!). Lots of people working here, but many behind the Tonic Bar, prepared foods bar, and registers seem confused the two times I've been there so far. The miso cod entree I got from the prepared foods section we extremely undercooked (pink, jiggly and meat would not come off the skin), but I already got home so I didn't go back to show them. Not edible without getting sick. Waste of $20. They charge $0.20 per paper bag for online food order pick-ups (no option to decline if you don't want the bag) and they charged me for two bags, even though they only gave me one. I also ordered a half pound and they gave me almost one pound, costing me an extra $9 that I didn't want to spend. I think they do this with online orders to upsell and charge more. Overall, good aesthetics and quality, but extremely overpriced. There are very good local coffee shops, bakeries, smoothie shops, and prepared food places that cost less, same or better quality, and are a lot less boujee (the customers are boujee, not the workers). read more

There's a sense of entitlement of those who come to shop here. I've been here a couple of times and no one ever says excuse me when walking by the aisles. A lot of people come here and look around like they're at Disneyland, completely bewildered by the prices. I always feel like I have to flag down the workers for help. The membership plus is not exactly worth the hefty price point. Some drawbacks is that the smoothie of the month is whatever the bar decides and the advertised $0 delivery fee only applies if you spend $150+ on groceries. My first time trying food from this place! The grab-and-go sushi is at a reasonable price, which surprised me considering their smoothies are near $20. I love the variety in the set, with my favorite being the spicy tuna on crispy rice. I also got a matcha latte which tasted very earthy and healthy. The interior is aesthetically pleasing, with everything being well organized. After hearing about the difficult parking situation when Erewhon first opened, I was nervous. This location is beautiful inside and out but very crowded like others have mentioned; however, it just opened so what do you expect? The only downside was that my smoothie took about 25 minutes but that's to be expected at any other Erewhon when it's super crowded (especially the grove location). Overall I would give this location 4 stars, with one star being deducted for not having any staff members advise customers where exactly to line up for the juice bar which made it a bit hectic. read more

I wanted a sampling of what they offer, so I got a loaf of their sourdough bread (Erewhon label), a jar of their broccoli soup, and a dynamite roll (sushi). Anyone who's been here knows it ain't cheap, so I was hoping for good. I ended up throwing the sushi away. Inedible. Gummy fish, undercooked rice, bland...while still managing to leave a bad taste. The sourdough bread I'm hoping will be redeemed by toasting, because it's impossible to eat otherwise: it has the consistency of day-old. I also bought eggs, the pasture-raised available anywhere, but for two bucks more. Haven't had the courage to try the soup yet. I'm not holding my breath. read more

I got the Mac and cheese with rigatoni for the side option. For the main protein I ordered the rotisserie chicken. Then I ordered a salmon roll because why not. When we sat down and tried the food, that shit was the worst chicken I have ever had. Dry as shit, the broth had zero flavor. The Mac and cheese and rigatoni are alright. The salmon roll might be one of the shittiest roll I have ever tried, 1/10 meal. Then I ordered dessert because it might be better than the food. Chocolate cake taste fishy for some reason and was like eating sand. The Banana cream pie was alright but the crust was shit. These mfs don't know how to make food. I saw they had sushi rolls with tamari so I excitedly purchased one and gobbled it down. My stomach has been rejecting it the rest of the afternoon. My stomach is screaming and I've been doubled over in pain. The price of a premade sushi roll was comparable with Whole Foods, though many items were $1-$2 more. Flavor was meh. The roll was sort of watery. I spent $200 on a basic bottle of wine, some vitamins, ground venison that leaked blood all over my items and a jar of sea moss. There's nowhere cute to sit and enjoy a glass of wine with your premade food item (that makes your stomach scream in pain). They offer a membership for $200/year that will get you 10% off when you shop. I cannot say that I would be back soon. read more

This has to be the most beautiful grocery store I've ever been to. It's the first Erewhon I've been to, and holy crap, it's like being in a swanky establishment on the west side or in Newport Beach. Everything is SO neat and so organized and just such a pleasure to look at. I know that sounds weird, but for me, ambiance is a lot and that visual appeal puts Erewhon head and shoulders above other grocery stores, including Wholefoods and Bristol Farms. Not even a comparison. Every single piece of produce is fresh, their ready made food is delicious (I've had the falafel wraps and their vegan taco salad and both are 10/10, my husband loves their homemade granola and the fact that it isn't overly sweet) I can't remember the last time I went to Whole foods and found fresh produce throughout like you do here... WF's produce looks like its been sitting out for a week, same for their prepared foods. Erewhon's is like it was picked from the farm and brought over that same morning... maybe that is what they do, and maybe that partly explains their prices, lol. I see lot of comments mentioning the prices. It is expensive, yes. Sometimes very expensive. Everything from produce to bottled water, to prepackaged and ready made foods are at least a few dollars more than they cost at Wholefoods, and depending on the item, twice the amount. But everything is organic. Everything is fresh. Everything that I have tasted so far is delicious. The store is meticulously organized. The ratio of staff per customer is quite high and all of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Oh! And the manager Alyssa is the sweetest person in the world :) When you purchase anything that's in their mason jars or glass bottles, you can bring it back into the store for a 2-3$ refund and they'll recycle it, doing their part for the environment. How cool is that? All of this costs money unfortunately. Right now, the store is a little chaotic and packed with people who aren't necessarily buying things... I see a lot of people taking selfies or walking around having conversations and perusing. I'm hopeful that the Tiktok crowd will die down soon. By far the most crowded location (I'll give it the benefit of the doubt since it just opened but idk). It's really small in here seems to have less stuff than other locations (realllly beautiful tho). So much staff but no one really helping customers which is odd, they seem to pick and choose if you know what I mean and not the most approachable crowd. Very disappointed by the vegan sushi I got, some of the pieces were not edible (the rice wasn't cooked all the way through and hard) I don't expect these kinds of mistakes at an establishment with 3+ dollar signs. Also upset my cactus plant smoothie came in a regular cup and not the one they advertised I feel like for $22 it should be exact. And the staff isn't really educated on the allergens or dietary differences between products. I just think if you expect people to pay high prices the experience has to give that as well.
