Eric is a crack locksmith. The flush bolt on one of my front doors was not functioning. He came out the same night and fixed it for a reasonable amount. He does little to advertise himself because he has a full book of business already. I can see why. read more

Short Review - If I could give a five star plus or a six star rating I would. The long review is that, I had gotten a new door installation (door and frame) and new hardware. After the installation, I was really disappointed with the installation. The list of issues included the following: 1. The door closed on itself (it wasn't installed plumb/level). 2. A piece of insulation was missing on the side where the strike plate was located. Thus creating large cold drafts. 3. The door was rubbing against the frame (you had to push the door in hard to close it). 4. The lock was incredibly difficult to turn. 5. The Armor plate (the piece of metal that protects the mortise) was never installed. If you installed it previously, one couldn't shut the door. 6. The Lock cylinder didn't sit flush. It was actually crooked! 7. The Lock cylinder was damaged because the contractor had used a wrench to turn the beautiful brass hardware! 8. Multiple brass screws were stripped or poorly installed. But these were just the surface level issues - those things that one could see. Upon uninstalling the hardware Eric also discovered: 9. A set screw was never installed (this helps hold down the hardware from the exterior). 10. The holes used to anchor the hardware was misaligned and not even straight. 11. The strike plate was in the wrong location AND had been installed incorrectly (upside down, inverted. 12. Etc.... The list goes on, this ended up being one of the poorest installations that Eric had seen. He knew I was extremely unsatisfied with the prior install and told me, no problem, everything is going to be awesome when I'm done with this. Guess what, he fixed every single one of the problems listed above. Can you believe that and he made it look like a breeze. While it might seem odd to praise doorhardware or a locksmith, I think there is extreme satisfaction in owning and using a mechanism daily that is working the way it was intended to. Eric truly did an amazing job and I'm blown away by how much he was able to fix, and improve on such a poor installation. When you call Eric, you are truly getting a master locksmith. This guy is incredible in his line of work, his insights, and his stories. I really appreciated not only his work performed, but his tips he provided along the way that will have an impact on me. Even if you have to wait for Eric to come help you (he's in high demand). I highly recommend waiting for Eric and Eric only if you want the best on your door and hardware. read more

My contractor used Eric to install new interior doors with European locksets and to fix two existing exterior doors with European locks that had been (amazingly) installed upside down and were very difficult to operate. Eric was superb, a consummate craftsman, and made everything easy to operate and smooth as silk. He was wonderful at sourcing products from a rather obscure Italian manufacturer and at fabricating new parts for the exterior door locks when parts were not available. But it's not just in dealing with unusual mechanisms that Eric shines. He is also very knowledgeable about US manufacturers and is a Baldwin specialist. If you are installing new doors or just need a repair or adjustment to any door Eric is the guy to call. Well, well, well... look who it is. Now, where do I begin. I spoke to this clown a few months back and he was the most unprofessional, moody child about...wait for it...QUESTIONS about work. I am completely ignorant about his profession hence the questions. He became increasingly annoyed with me for god only knows what and when I told him I would be going with another company(don't want to waste his time, I understand time is valuable) he says "great." As in thank god I don't have to "deal with you." Lol. Eric Eric..I told you when you surfaced that I would keep my eye out for you. It's people like you who hide behind employers and think your actions will never reach the light of day. The best part..the company Eric was used as a vendor for removed him from their list and when I showed them the texts, agreed about his in professionalism and kindly gave me his info for contractors license board. (That is who you contact if you want to make a contractors life a living hell). Shortly after the company seeing how his actions were out of line, good ole Eric has switched hats into damage control mode and is kissing my ___ and making himself available all of a sudden. Eric Olsen provided the best service I've ever gotten from anyone in similar situations, from start to finish. In the beginning he spent about 20 min. with me on the phone discussing the problem with my Baldwin lock. Everything was clearly explained beforehand--the process, the charges and the schedule. While working he kept showing what he was doing and why. He also found more problems with the door itself which he fixed right there. Now I have the lock that works better than new. Eric Olsen Locksmith repaired our front door, and reset and replaced the hardware. Since our house was built , the front doors have been difficult to use, always needing extra force and often two hands and a hip to close. Now one fingers closes the door. After being ripped off by Locksmith Services, a service for itinerant locksmiths, we needed someone who could properly fix our front door lock. This time, we checked Yelp and called a highly rated locksmith (Steve's Lock and Key). Steve looked at things (at no charge) and recommended Eric to us. Our lock was quite old and we wished to maintain it because of its aesthetic value. Steve recommended Eric Olsen. Eric called that evening and came by the next day. My assessment of Eric: He is a true master craftsman. He took apart the lock, showed us the problems, and gave us an in-depth tutorial about locks. He is passionate about his craft and enjoys teaching. We were so impressed that we had him do additional work on the front door as well as installing a striker plate and cleaning our rear door clock. In the 30+ years we have been in our houses, our doors and locks have never worked as well as they do now. Eric is not inexpensive but I strongly doubt one can find any individual as competent and knowledgeable about locks and doors. Great work at a fair price! read more
