I just moved to Houston and have been looking for a salon. With all the good reviews I chose Eric; however, that was a HUGE mistake. I had a terrible experience all around at this salon. To start I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and had to wait for an additional 20 minutes after my appointment time to even go to his area. After that, I still had to wait for him to finish up with another client. This usually isn't a big deal, but it became the beginning of the worst hair experience I have ever had. When I finally got in the chair I told him what I wanted and he seemed reluctant to do it. I felt judged and uncomfortable the whole time I was there. If he didn't want to do my hair, then he should have just said so. I asked him to bleach my hair -- a style I've had for years -- and he did a horrible job. He missed a whole chunk of my hair the first bleach process and got bleach on the sides of my hair that are supposed to remain brown. He had to put dye on the sides of my hair, but still managed to leave bleach on a part of my hair that is supposed to stay brown. During the second bleach process he left bleach on my forehead for the whole time I was waiting for my hair to lift. It left my forehead dried out and slightly burnt. When the process was finally done he didn't bother to tone it out so I was left with a yellow/brassy blonde that looked horrible. I ended up having to fix it myself with the instruction of my old hair dresser. To top off my horrible experience, he didn't even give me the haircut I wanted. I asked him to shave the sides and blend it where it meets the top, but instead he shaved all the way up and left a chunk of longer hair in the back. I was extremely upset with this. I had to go get it fixed at a local sports clips in order to eliminate the lengthier part in the back. He said he would refund me for my haircut, but that has yet to happen. I got my hair done last week and it was taken my six days to stop being angry/upset. I would not recommend going here. read more

If I could give Eric Perez a zero, I would. My significant other came here to get a haircut and color and came home IN TEARS. Not only did Eric charge A HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE than they quoted, but they also burned my SO's scalp because they left the bleach on too long. Ken didn't even get the haircut they wanted and they were there for four hours!!!!! Eric got bleach on the side of Ken's head and had to dye the hair to fix it. AND he had to bleach their hair twice because first it wasn't right. Avoid Eric Perez at all costs!!! I have been in Houston for 10 years and have yet to find someone who is willing to take the time to listen to me, to look at my face and head carefully to determine the best cut/style (I have very a short, pixie cut), and work with me to achieve the cut that I'm looking for. With very short hair, attention to detail is essential, and that is something that I have not been getting. Also, the communication between the stylist and client cannot be understated and often times when I have tried to explain what I think needs to be changed or different, the response I have often gotten seems defensive. That I don't need. And so, I have gone to nearly 15 different stylists in an attempt to find someone who "gets me". I think I have found that someone in Eric. I felt an immediate connection in the initial visit. He really listened to me, looked at the shape of my face and head, and we talked back and forth about what could be done and what needed to be done to achieve the look I am aiming for. I've only had one cut with Eric but I could tell immediately that I've finally found the stylist I've been looking for. Although my hair needs to grow out in some places due to having been overly textured and cut too short in a couple of areas, the initial cut with Eric was a big improvement--and the color he did was definitely better and more flattering against the color of my skin. Don't go! I specifically told him that I wanted a trim, long layers, and framing of the face. It was super important to me to keep my hair long because I am having a baby and want to be able to put it in a pony tail. I wanted an easy haircut. I got NONE of that. He wanted to give me a lob. I told him absolutely not. I need hair for a pony tail. He cut it and said "I compromised!" WHAT?? A compromise?? He straight up gave me the lob and my hair doesn't fit in a pony tail and I couldn't be more annoyed. The hair only looks cute if I curl it which is not the low maintenance I was looking for. Let me start with this, I have never walked out of a salon this happy with my hair. I had dark black hair that has been bleached and dyed red for past 5 months. I was tired of the red and wanted to go with something more natural.
