    Latke Tots

Cute small place with all gluten free breads and bagel sandwiches. Vegetarian/vegan as well. We got their blueberry danish - tasted just like a wheat one - and a donut. We have had some other gf donuts before and they werent great - this one was a lot closer to a regular donut. I also got the spicy feta open toast on sourdough - VERY GOOD. I loved the chili crisp and the fried eggs were cooked perfectly. VERY generous avocado and portion size. My husband got the g'day mate - i think that was it - with avo, egg, and vegan sausage. I think he liked mine better. I would definitely come back and get something with smoked salmon. The sourdough was great too. We also got the latke tots - they werent my favorite but the truffle aioli was very tasty. The woman behind the counter was so helpful since it was our first time and answered all our questions. Theres a parking structure not far away.

I woke up this beautifully clear and warm Sunday morning and found heaven on Beverly Drive close to my office: Modern Bread & Bagel. Everything is GF. Why have I just discovered this joint? GF Donuts, Babka, sourdough bread, sandwiches, coffee cake etc. This is probably best for my waist that I just discovered this Gluten Free Willy Wonka like place but I was like a kid in a candy store trying to decide what to order. I ordered THE BURRATA: Heirloom Tomato, Burrata, Ramp Pistou, Cracked Pepper, Fresh Basil. They were out of sourdough so I had it on an everything bagel. A little difficult to eat on the bagel and would order it on the sourdough bread but I sat on the banquette along the wall and it was delicious. At 11:30 am I asked the server when they close and was told 5pm. I told her good, because it may take me that long to try one of everything. I will be taking out a mortgage and decided to take home 2 GF treats for later. The items are a bit pricey but being Celiac for 26 years I am used to higher prices and these prices are not out of line. But, who am I kidding? I ordered the chocolate Babka and the strawberry glazed donut. I immediately decided I will eat one of them, probably the chocolate Babka, when I get home and try to have a slight modicum of constraint saving whatever else tickles my culinary fancy that I haven't had for many, many years for the Rams football game. I ate the Strawberry donut when I got home and it was very large and delicious. Likewise the chocolate babka which I haven't been able to eat due to being Celiac for over 26 years. Who knew Heaven was just 5 minutes away.

Ordered a bagel from here and it was pretty good, but I have to say, they went a little cray with the amount of cream cheese they put. Every bite I would take, a bunch of cream cheese would be pushed out of my bagel and also get all over my hands and just be super messy. Don't get me wrong, I like a solid amount of cream cheese and I hate when there isn't enough and the bagel is dry. That being said, there can also be too much when you have a difficult time enjoying the bagel because you're eating mostly cream cheese. I got the everything bagel with chive cream cheese.

I just stumbled upon Modern Bread & Bagel. They have a nice covered patio and are dog friendly. There is street parking available. I've gone on weekdays, but I'm sure parking can be challenging on a weekend. The first time I went, I ordered the Farmer's Garden on a toasted Everything Bagel. It took quite some time to get my order and people who ordered after me, received their orders before me. I decided to give them a pass on the long wait because things happen and plus the Farmer's Garden was delicious. The bagel was chewy in a good way and super flavorful. Their pastry/dessert case is filled with colorful donuts, cookies, babke's & more, which I decided I needed to come back for. I came back 2 days later and got the avocado/lemon on a seeded bagel. Again, it was fresh, chewy and satisfying. I took a cookie home to go, but again will need to come back to try a donut or breakfast sandwich. Service is very friendly and I received my order quickly. Great little find.

Delicious breakfast stop! The place is known for their gluten free bagels/breads so of course we had to try their bagels/breads. We got the Breakfast Grilled cheese on Pan Demin bread and the Morning Stretch on everything bagel. The onion jam on the grilled cheese just blew my mind. It just pushed a simple grilled cheese sandwich into another level. The Morning Stretch sandwich was very flavorful with the addition of their red pepper paste. Would recommend both. The sandwiches are not that big so you don't feel overly stuffed. Next time, we will have to order the grilled cheese on a bigger bread or bagel. We also tried one of their drinks, the apple pie latte. It was really good and not overly sweet. They also have several sweet pastries and deserts. We got the apple pie cinnamon roll and the potato leek quiche to go. The cafe has plenty of seating both inside and outside. Service was very friendly. Metered street parking available as well as free 2 hour public underground parking nearby.

Tasty, but not amazing. The everything bagel wasn't as chewy as I prefer but the staff was kind and friendly.

Tasty baked goods, you wouldn't believe that they are being gluten-free! The café is beautiful with plenty of inside as well as outdoor seating. They have a great variety of food and drinks available as well as to our free parking in the garage nearby. Prices are fair and the food is tasty and filling. Great option if you're looking for gluten-free goodies in the area!

A short line on a Sunday but moved quickly. Friendly and open customer service willing to help and answer all questions. A good selection of breakfast and different types of bagel offerings.

Since I have been wanting to come here for a long time now I went to great pains to find parking nearby and was finally successful. I ordered the B.E.C. on Parmesan toast. It was tasty. But that's the only good thing I have to say about this place. When I was about to pay I could tell another customer was really irked off because it seems like they took too long with her order to be ready. And I noticed the same complaints on other reviews. So here I am waiting for my order for over 10 minutes for something that is a very simple sandwich to make. Not sure why it takes so long but I'm waiting in their nice patio area. Yet being surrounded constantly by gnats makes it frustrating and unappealing to eat here. Well I was just served with my sandwich and not sure why it was packed to go when I told them I wanted to eat at the restaurant. I was responded to with a nonchalant sorry as he plopped down my "to go" bag. Overall very unimpressed for this hype of a place. The vegan bacon was so hard that it was as if I was biting into an impossible tree bark! The presentation was less than mediocre. So disappointing since I had read so many good reviews about this place. Definitely not worth the money or my time.

    Morning Stretch Breakfast Grilled Cheese

Delicious food, but variable service! The ambiance was very warm and modern, with a reasonable amount of seating. Definitely try the breakfast sandwiches, because they are so tasty. We got the breakfast grilled cheese sandwiches on an everything bagel, and they were packed with flavor. The onion jam sets it apart, so definitely recommend this one! We also got a morning stretch breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel, which was also pretty good. They came out pretty fast when we went. The chocolate zucchini bread was moist and yummy, and would recommend this one over the cinnamon bun bread, which had a weird texture. There was a bit of an issue with a few staff members, who forgot about our vanilla latte and served other customers their drinks. Upon questioning the server they said they would check on it, but the drink never came. We asked the barista to make it as they forgot, and they nonchalantly handed over the drink with no apology. We thought this was an indicator of poor service for these specific individuals, but luckily the manager was kind enough to refund us the drink and give us a free pastry.

Solid breakfast sandwich! Everything bagel with egg, sausage, and melted cheddar was crispy outside, soft inside. Iced latte was smooth. Cute cozy spot to start the day. Service is amazing, very kind & accomodating.

As someone with celiac, I don't say this lightly: Modern Bread and Bagel Modern Bread and Bagel is hands down the best pastries I have ever had. I have not had a croissant in EIGHT YEARS. Eight. Years. I took one bite and genuinely just stared at it. I made my friends try it (all gluten-eaters), and every single one of them said it was better than a normal croissant. I almost didn't believe it myself. It was flaky. Buttery. Layered. Not "good for gluten free." Just good. Period. And the donut??? Usually when you get a gluten-free donut, let's be honest , it's cake. It's always cake. This was not cake. This was a real donut. Light, fluffy, perfectly sweet -- truly the best donut I have ever had, gluten-free or not. It was so good that I made three separate purchases. I'd walk away... then go back up and order more. Not only to eat there, but to take home If anyone listens to me ever -- if you are celiac or even just gluten-free -- GO HERE. I live in San Diego and I will legitimately drive back just for this place. That's how serious I am. I think about it all the time. And I have to add, the staff was unbelievably kind. At one point I was half convinced they had secretly poisoned me with gluten because it was too good. Five stars isn't enough.

In comparison to other bagel shops in LA, this spot falls right in the middle. Unfortunately, what…read morereally holds it back is the price point and the overwhelming hype--both from long lines and TikTok buzz--that doesn't quite match the experience. The scale tips more toward the downside when it comes to the bagels themselves. The toppings aren't particularly unique, or consistent, and the bagel had a noticeably firm texture that didn't stand out in a good way. What initially drew me in--and ultimately prompted this review, my first review--was the coffee. After trying 50+ coffee shops over the past 2 years alone, I can honestly say this was one of the more disappointing lattes I've had. I ordered a whole milk latte, and the best way to describe it is simply: watery. It wasn't milk-forward, not sweet, and surprisingly not even very coffee-forward. Instead, it had a slightly herbal, almost oily, burnt-bean flavor that felt diluted with water. I also ordered the carrot cake latte, which had the same base issue. The carrot cake foam helped mask it a bit, but it tasted more like a strong sugar cookie flavor than anything close to carrot cake. In the end, giving grace, perhaps it was just a "bad barista day". Overall, it's not terrible--but definitely not worth the hype or the price. *If visiting on the weekend arrive before 9:30 to beat the line if you dare.*

Oh, it presents as a textbook Jewish deli of old, with traditional brown booths and paneled dividers, dark Formica tables, and a menu featuring the greatest hits of deli dining. But the food here is overpriced and underwhelming, like so many of the other delis around town these days. The staff is nice, for sure. They welcome you with smiles, seat you quickly, and immediately offer you drinks. Everything is clean and well-preserved, so you feel like you're in for a great meal. I ordered my usual: Pastrami on Rye, Russian Dressing on the side, with Potato Salad. To drink: Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray, the very best soda for cutting through the richness of deli meat. The sandwich came promptly, and looked quite nice. The portion was appropriate for a normal sandwich (as opposed to being ridiculously stuffed), and the pastrami was nicely marbled. But looks can be deceiving. The bread was a bit too dense -- possibly made that way, or possibly a touch stale. Either way, after 2 bites I abandoned the bread and just ate the meat. The pastrami, while juicy with a soft texture, lacked flavor. I believe they bring their meat in from a purveyor, and the lack of inspiration is evident. Potato salad was also generously portioned, but had far too much mustard, and the result is a side dish that feels more Southern Picnic than Lower East Side. Again, this is a Deli serving a so-so sandwich at a price nearly the same as Katz's in NYC, and it's a shame. It's just not worth it. I've come to find that the best pastrami in Los Angeles is being served at places Johnny's in West Adams or on special at BBQ places, and usually at 2/3's the price. When it comes to Nate & Al's, I wouldn't say never go, but I wouldn't expect much bang for your buck -- or in the case of the pastrami sandwich, your 27-bucks.

I love their sides, specifically the potato salad & cucumber salad. a little spendy but big sandwiches, I always eat half to enjoy the other half later. Service is always kind & the location is small but a nice patio to eat on. I love daughters deli.

I've been in LA for 2 months and waited until the last week to try it and I went back a second time. The hand sliced lox bagel on a sesame bagel is fresh, crispy, well-balanced and salty in the best way. They clearly only use the freshest ingredients. I'm fully converted Also the line truly isn't bad at all. It is so worth it!

Delicious and crispy. Vanilla paste latte with almond milk was perfectly bitter/sweet balanced. My full open face + drink was about $30. To my surprise the line was short Sunday around 10:45am. Able to order quickly, waiting for food wasn't too bad around 15 mins. The person taking orders was super helpful recommending things from the menu (since all sounded so great). There was a good amount of outdoor seating with umbrella to block from the sun but many people were there waiting. Didn't take long for someone to head out to get a seat, so not really a problem but could be worse if it's a super busy time.
