A day or so later I decided to look into it myself and found some videos online to diagnose the problem. Turns out the icemaker needed replacement, I ordered a new one and installed it myself, 90.00 parts and a little bit of my time and my fridge is making ice. An update to this review: after posting the manager of A Action reached out to me and apologized for the misdiagnosis of my fridge and offered a refund for the service call. He was friendly and wanted to make things right, he also made me aware that they have had a lot of problems with my model and usually quote it for door replacement and mentioned a possible class action lawsuit against whirlpool for a poor design.
