We visited Ernies all three days we were in Brainerd. What a great place! Located on Gull Lake, good food, great drinks, beautiful view, what more can you ask for? Live music on the weekends & a DJ late night. My bf & I had an amazing time tearing up the dance floor & drinking Surly on tap. I love getting a table outside and listening to the small bands on sunday with usually one to three people in them. They start at 1 p.m. so dont miss out. The service is great outside with the full menu and a small bar to sit at and order from. Sand volleyball, baggo, and also plenty of chairs line the shoreline so you will never get bored at Ernies on Gull! Try the bluey and greeny drinks...they both are refreshing and can pack a punch. Ernie's is always busy for a reason: it's fantastic. Great beer list with plenty of local craft beer options. The portion sizes are gigantic so you'll never leave hungry. Everything I've had - from appetizers to entrees - has been delicious. And you can't beat the views with the patio right on the lake. They've got a convenient outdoor bar where you can grab a drink while you wait for a table. I make it a point to visit here at least a couple times each summer and it never disappoints. read more

We loved Ernie's! The outside seating is awesome and the service was great even though the poor lady was running around from table to table constantly helping everyone. The Greenie is their signature cocktail and it was good. Their cheese curds are amazing as were the onion rings! I had the M&M burger and would definitely order it again. My kids had their old stand by, chicken strips with honey mustard and fries. They enjoyed them, but I'm not sure how you could mess up chicken strips. I like this place mostly for the view - the outdoor patio is awesome. I try to go early to avoid the frat boy scene that seems likely to erupt at any moment. Service is always hit or miss at these resort area places during peak season, but the service was good for the two visits we made - both friendly and stopping by often to check in. My husband and I have been there g F or several Sushi Wednesdays. The sushi is delicious. What I find concerning is that your advertised Happy Hour isn't really that. At most places, HH is either two for one drinks or an across the board discount. You give out a coupon with each drink instead. Our first visit there we received a couple of discounts. The last few times have been "full price" drinks only. So, defeats the purpose of happy hour. read more

I was really pleased to see Ernie's was still open during all the disruption from COVID. They have plenty of outside seating, we ordered from the bar and are in the bar's outdoor seating area. I had the Mushroom and Swiss burger and my wife had the classic burger. Service was quick, and the food was excellent. The fries are absolutely amazing. read more

This really is a fabulous place to visit on such a breathtaking venue. Well worth the time! The burgers are amazing and beautifully presented (with the veggie burger being my personal choice) had a unique tenderness to it that made it just worth every penny. The soup was tasty too, lobster bisque. On nice days they have an outdoor plus and indoor bar which are both charming Of course, the location is key. The tables were nicely appointed with umbrellas and seating for our large group up to 12.There is a dock that we pulled our pontoon up to that made it easy to come and go without getting off the lake vibe. Food is always good, though in the summer, the menu on the bar patio is definitely different from the main restaurant. The ONLY thing that has caused our pontoon to pass Ernies is the fact that it's newly remodeled and the line for the ladies room is unbelievably long. You'd think that with the demand, Ernies would have added another stall to make the line a bit shorter. It's disappointing. We love Ernies. We go there weekly. Fix the women's bathroom situation and we will be there nearly daily! read more

VEGAN OPTIONS!! I have to give Ernie's high praise for bumping their vegan menu up a notch to accommodate people who want to eat plant based. They have hummus plate , a grilled tofu sandwich and avocado tacos. You still have to ask the right questions and omit the mayo based sauces, but - when you remove items you still have food in front of you! A hearty "hey hey!" to Ernie's in my book. 1. The kid that was probably kicked out of his frat house had 2 people at the outside bar. This being to many people for him to handle, it took him 10 minutes to make a Greeny and pour a light beer. $12 -1* 2. The Greeny was wrong. It is concocted with a powder that gives it its name. They were out of the powder and failed to tell us this. -1* 3. We found our own spot outside at one of the tables on the grass. Our server was pleasant but by no means present. 4. We ordered peel-n-eat shrimp and fish tacos. The shrimp was generic and overpriced. The fish tacos were mediocre and fell apart through the corn tortillas. $24 -1* 5. We shared these dishes.....so come on and give me an extra plate. 6. Due to my boyfriends birthday that day, we asked for a bday shot. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Service was great but not great enough to make up for the food.... I had mushroom stroganoff which had prime rib in it. Very plain sauce, scarce mushrooms, and shell noodles rather than stroganoff or linguine which was not mentioned. $20. My husband had walleye dinner. Soggy walleye, barely fried seemingly, $30. The lobster bisque was flavorful. The hot tea was great. We didn't even eat a 1/4 of our meal. read more
