1 star for service 3 star for the food. My friends and I all live in San Jose and we're visiting a friend in Paterson. We decided to head to Earnies Taqueria for some tacos. I ordered 2 Tripa and 1 Asada in addition to a bowl of menudo and a torta. My friends order another 12 tacos in total. Once I picked up our food from the counter and walk back to our table, I noticed my 3 taco was not served with this Order. I figured it's taking a little longer so I waited for a few minutes then I walked up to the cashier and let her know that we are missing 3 more tacos (2 Tripa and 1 Asada.) she insisted that she already served them. I politely asked her to double check the receipt again because we have not gotten them. I also asked her kindly to check our plate because our order was still missing 3 tacos. She kept insisting that she already serve me the 3 tacos and insinuating that I was trying to cheat her out of 3 tacos o_o I didn't want to make a big scene so I told her it was no big deal. No need to serve me the 3 missing taco. After finishing my bowl of menudo and tortas...the cook told me that my 3 tacos were ready...I'm like WTF!!! Great food, great prices. The Taco, burrito, beans and rice combo is awesome and way more than one person should eat... haha but I did it anyway. I've been here twice and both times was met with a smile at the counter. Definitely will be stopping by whenever I'm in town. I was greeted after looking over the menu and the gentleman who took my order was genuinely a very nice person. Ordered my usual burrito I like. This burrito turned up to be one of the best breakfast burritos in quality and flavor, not very greasy either which is a huge problem usually when I order what I do. Let me tell you folks I was in for a surprise when I ordered a super carne asada burrito with a regular size horchata which came out to be about $8-9. Not bad, little did I know the super burrito lives up to its name! It was huge! The super burrito was the size of my forearm and I'm a pretty small person. They were not hasty with the filling every bite is full of flavor and meat! The only issues I had about Ernie's is that to dine in is very small place with very limited amount of seats. I love Ernie's! In a town chock-full of awesome taquerias, I think it really stands out. Ernie's is also a great favorite with my coworkers. The facilities are clean and serviceable, but I only ever take advantage of their food on a take away basis. Ernie's main appeal springs not from its lovely environment or buoyant staff (though a few of their counter girls are pretty friendly). It's their food! All of the ingredients are delicious with flavorful seasonings. I've had their shrimp burrito a number of times and I've always enjoyed it. Lately, I order a rice, bean and cheese burrito made with whole beans. It's a little kinder to my wallet (but I may need to drop the cheese in order to be kind to my waist line). With their delicious salsa verdé, it's no sacrifice to have a simple burrito. However, the best part of dining on Ernie's chow is their cabbage slaw. It's located at the self serve salsa bar. I've heard locals refer to it as 'hot slaw.' It's really good! They don't always have it, since they run out of it, so come early. Really, this cabbage salsa stuff is good. (That's why it gets its own paragraph here.) Try it! I wish I good address the quality of their other entreés, but my coworkers have tried almost everything. The tacos were good, the carne asada had good flavor and was cooked correctly (not over done crispy), the carnitas had good flavor and was tender and juicy. The rice was light and tasted good, the refried beans were okay. The super burrito was good. It came with carne asada, whole pinto beans, rice, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, sour cream, and guacamole. Checked out this taqueria on our way up north after finding the yelp reviews for it. We had simple beef tacos, enchilada, and chicken flauntas. They were pretty good. I only come to Patterson every once in a while to visit family, but when I do, this is the place I go to when the kitchen at my house is empty. I normally get a burrito. Their lengua and asada is always what I get and will never be disappointed. Their salsa bar is also pretty good, but I just wish they would offer chips as well. After doing business in Patterson I was hungry & ended up here based on yelp reviews. I had 2 asada tacos, 2 alpastor, a side of guac, & a Jarrito. All this equaled $8.21. The tacos were good enough to eat but nothing to write home about. Usual fixin's of cilantro & salsa; hold the onions. Probably should have ordered a burrito but oh well. Alpastor lacked seasoning but asada was just right. The restaurant is small but I don't care too much about that as long as they can pump out good food. In my expereince that is why I gave them a 3 for the food. Stay away from the guacamole if you're not into onions because man, they did an overkill with it being heavy on the onions.
