I feel like it's important for people to know going in that the basic air quality test service is only awesome if the test comes back negative. I tested positive for mold but there really wasn't enough information for me to take action with the basic one-sample-per-floor-and-one-outside for baseline. ERT appeared on schedule, did the work professionally, everything went well. They even threw in a couple of tests. Where I was disappointed is that they knew my situation and knew that the service I asked for wasn't going to be all that helpful if it was positive. The response was "Yeah, those potential trouble spots you pointed out? It's a good chance that's the source of your problem, you're going to want to look into that," which kind of left me back where I started. On-site I didn't get a helpful upsell: "well, if it comes back positive it would probably be more useful if we also swabbed here and here and here" or something like that. Consequently I feel like I just paid $675 to know for sure that my home is dangerous, which I already suspected. This seems like a lot to me, although if it came back negative I would have felt it was worth it for saving me unnecessary repairs. Our renter submitted a mold report that stated our rental home needed $3K worth of remediation. The report came from a mold company in Folsom, CA., unbelievable, they were willing to drive down to San Jose and take air testing and submit the lab results and only charged the renter about $300 for the air samples. The report was graded as a 3+ and the house was alleged to be toxic. It has become clear that the report generated by the Folsom, CA company was generic boilerplate and the actual inspector didn't state his last name nor was the report consummated by actually signing with his signature. We contacted a licensed engineer house inspector and he suggested ERT Environmental. The results were stunning, our house had no mold and less mold than the outside of the house. The report given to the renter was a total scam. Thank goodness for Richard and ERT, they only do reports and testing. They have no vested interest in giving you a "bad" report so they can run up the bill. It is frightening when you are dealing with something you can not see or smell. ERT was responsive and understood our concerns immediately. Richard was professional and had a report to us within 4 days with major lab testing. In this day and age where there are "fast buck artist", it was refreshing to meet Richard and talk to his partner on the phone. If you have concerns about any mold issue, this is the company to call. In over 32 years of handling our rentals, this was new issue for us and we were lucky to be referred to ERT. Under the California Business and Professional business code, any firm conducting both inspection and remediation for mold must be questioned as their finding maybe skewed by financial interests instead of the client's interest. I recently needed to have the air tested in my home after having my ceilings scraped. I called around to a few places and was happy with ERT's customer service on the phone and willingness to be flexible with a schedule. The removal was completed on a Friday, and to my surprise, the collection of the air sample was taken on a Saturday morning! I was so happy I did not have to wait until Monday for the test. I went with an invasive test which meant sending the sample to Southern California...prolonging the process a bit. We got the result about 4pm on Monday. I would absolutely go with ERT again and refer them to anyone looking for this type of service. I have used ERT twice. The first time is about two years ago when we tested Asbestos for the popcorn ceiling in the rental house. That went really smooth and results came back in a time. The second time we called ERT for final air clearance after removing asbestos popcorn ceiling in our new house. Overall it went very well. Richard came out to the house as we scheduled and he kept me informed every step of the way. One thing I wish they have is in-house or in-city lab that will greatly reduce the turn-around time. Our children have been having respiratory problems since we moved into our home. I wanted to have someone come out test our air for mold levels and then do a mold home inspection and help find all possible places where it could be coming from. When I talked to the person on the phone setting up the appointment I told him I wanted someone with thermal imaging cameras, moisture meters, cameras, etc. I was expecting a home inspection for mold with air testing. For $750 I was imagining someone going under the house, going in the attic, testing the moisture in the air, using a thermal imaging camera, etc. When Richard came to the house he tested our two kids bedrooms, the garage, and the air outside the house. He used a moisture meter and checked the moisture levels behind the sinks and toilets. He looked at the roof outside my daughter's bedroom through the window. And then he left. It was not what I was expecting. I felt like I payed all that money to have someone come and do some air testing and leave. I called and told them this, and after arguing with the man on the phone and him getting very defensive and then finally talking with Richard they emailed me and agreed to come back out for free and then charge me to do air testing in the living room (main part of the house) and do a complete home inspection. The problem is they never followed through. I emailed them, called them, called them again, called them again. They kept telling me Richard would call to set it up and he never did. It has been weeks and no call. I still need this done because I need to find out how to proceed based on the air in the main part of my home, not just the kids' bedrooms (which did have high levels of mold), so now I have to hire another company to come out and have to pay the $750 again. I am REALY disappointed in the customer service of this company. I would not recommend them to anybody. Sorry ERT, I didn't want to have to write this review, but you guys dropped the ball. read more

I was referred to ERT by our realtor. We had ERT perform tests during the inspection stage of closing on our house. With the influence of our realtor, ERT was very responsive and turnaround time on test results was quick. However, after we closed on our house and took the necessary steps to remove asbestos from our attic HVAC system, the customer service I received from ERT was less than stellar. I was in communication with ERT 1 1/2 weeks before our asbestos removal, to coordinate the date I needed them at my residence to perform follow-up testing. I was requesting their services on a Friday afternoon, or Saturday, whatever fit their schedule. After phone calls and an email to ERT on Friday morning, I received an email from ERT at 5:30pm on a Friday stating, "ERT can't do clearance. Please contact another consultant to facilitate this clearance. We can't get out there until Tuesday to clear." This caught me off guard and threw a wrench into our home remodeling schedule. I expressed my frustration in an email to ERT that Friday evening -- still to this day, no response or apology from ERT. Luckily, through a referral from the asbestos removal company I had contracted, I was able to get a hold of ProTech Consulting out of Redwood City. ProTech took my call on a Friday early evening, and had a tech out to test on Monday morning. They really came through in a pinch and I was able to keep our remodel schedule on track. If you need air quality testing, I would recommend ProTech over ERT, simply for the level of customer service. read more

our new house has asbestos wrap on the air duct and removed by a professional company. my wife would like to make sure 100% clean and search on yelp for air examination. finally we read a case hiring the same professional company and also hire ERT for the checking, we just tried to do the same thing. call them on monday and owner richard reply me an hour later. he is knowledgeable and willing to give you advice for different scenarios. we scheduled to take the air sample on thu morning. he arrived even earlier then schedule! he explained to me what is going to do and then take the air samples. i asked him different questions and he can give me reasonable answer. after about 2 hours, he did the sample and pack stuff. clean and nice! the most amazing thing is he realized that i am doing some other work for the house and he try to give me the result as soon as possible. i really get the result back on friday evening! just a day! we are very appreciate their work and highly recommend! :) thanks! read more
