    Wine for sale
    Joey S.

Okay I didn't have food this trip, but I was greeted and made to feel at home. Was told about their offerings and had a few wine samples, the. Purchase several bottles of wine to take home. They mentioned that jungle Jim's sells their wine, but glad I bought here as the selection at JJ's was very limited. I can't wait to come back to eat a meal and just enjoy the drive here. It was worth the trip from Cincinnati over. The place was super clean and very inviting. I highly recommend them.

I have been seeing signs on I-74 for years for Ertel Cellars Winery and finally, with my BFF, I took a detour to find the winery! It isn't too far off of 74 and it is so beautiful!!! The staff was very welcoming. A woman came out to offer us wine samples and she gave us a history of the winery, a small tour as well as talked about the samples she was giving us. I didn't realize this was also a restaurant, with beautiful seating outdoors as well as inside. We had already eaten elsewhere but the food smelled and looked heavenly so we will be back for lunch!!! We bought 4 bottles of wine thanks to the samples!!!! I can't wait to come again soon!

What a great find in this small town. Ertel Cellars is not only beautiful but also great quality food and wine. We got a table right by the windows where you can see into their production. Very cool! I enjoyed the Cabernet Sauvignon. My glass was full all the way to the top. We started with a cheese plate. Which was overwhelming in size, but underwhelming in quality unfortunately. It was your normal grocery store cheese cubes and crackers. But we certainly got our moneys worth in cheese. My husband got the grouper which he very much enjoyed. I wanted something light, because I was full of cheese (ha-ha). I got the burger with a side of potato soup. I was happy with my meal. We would like to come back in warmer weather and enjoy some drinks outside!

Great little out of the way spot in Indiana. Food was well prepared and pork chop was grilled to perfection. The cheese tray was MASSIVE and it paired well with the Cabernet Sauvignon. Service was a bit slow but always very friendly.

We had a wonderful lunch. My husband had the fresh grouper, grilled and I had a special Shrimp dish, Shrimp Capperrelli. These both came with choice of potato, and fresh green beans. I had a glass of pinot grigio. Delicious, the entire meal was so good. Quite a meal then to top it off with Creme Brulee. Highly recommend, well worth the drive.

Wife and I went here for date night. We have been here before and we've always enjoyed it. They have a great wine selection there. All wines are good. Very clean tasting. You can taste a variety of wines at no charge. For dinner I had the macadamia nut crusted seabass with blue cheese crumbles on top on a bed of creamed spinach. Very good and full of flavor. The mrs had the Wagyu beef and loved every bite of it. It is a bit on the expensive side but worth a trip.

Big sign on Indiana 129 showing you where to turn

I stopped by here yesterday on the way back from Cincinnati to Indiana. I saw the sign on the interstate and thought I would check it out. There was a nice big sign on the highway to point to where it was. I still however passed up the entrance to it because the sign was a big rock and it was late afternoon and there were no lights on it. I could see the grape arbors behind the building. They also serve food as they have a bistro but I did not try any food on this trip. There was a nice man who got my samples of wine. There was no charge for sampling the wines which is a rare thing these days although I did leave him a tip. I am a sweet wine drinker and found a couple I liked. The ambience seemed nice and I imagine I will stop back by with my mom and maybe next time we will try something off of their menu.

We have been here many times before, but before I got heavily into yelp. Wanted to post a review about how awesome this place is.. from the wine selection and taste, to their weekend brunch buffet. I know that's up in the air with covid, but they are still offering carry out orders for food and pick ups for wine! Don't sleep on this winery! And PS- the grounds are beautiful

This place was so good! The vibe was super laid back and relaxed. The wine is fantastic and the food was decisions. Waiter was super good and we got our food quickly.

    stony entrance into the restaurant/winery

Although I didn't stay for dinner, I loved the setting and hospitality of this local winery. Located on a hill that overlooks their vineyard, the spacious stone winery is gorgeous inside with plenty of room for their dine in customers (lunch, dinner, and brunch). As you enter, there is a counter for wine tastings. Unlike most wineries I've been to, this one allows free tastings! And there isn't a limit to how many you can sample. They are that confident that you will like them so much that you will make a purchase (I did!) Many of the dry and semi-dry wines are made from grapes grown on site. All the wines are processed and bottled here. I decided to go with their Chardonnay and Vignoles. I hope to return for a meal soon and may give some of their sweet wines a try. Very friendly staff that is quite welcoming. Review #2459

Do you serve other beverages besides wine?

No other alcoholic beverages. Soft drinks, coffee and tea are available.

Do they serve other alcohol in the restaurant? My mom got my sisters and gift certificates, but one of us doesn't really enjoy wine. We were just wondering if there would be other alcohol drink options for her.…

Wine with an amazing view? Yes please!…read more The Ridge Winery & Tasting Room knows how to make an afternoon of enjoying wine. I met my family there over the weekend for a fun lunch. The Ridge allows BYOFood, so we brought a spread. And then we bought wine from them. My favorite was the Blackberry Table Wine, which was sweet but balanced. We took over a table on the large patio that overlooks the Ohio River. And man, what a view. There was slight breeze and ample room for everyone to sit, while being socially distant. We watched barges slowly make their way down the river while we chatted and drank. And then inside, The Ridge has a small but fun gift shop. My mom and aunt bought a cheeky glass and T-shirt. The Ridge also offers tastings in case you want to try several fruit wines. I've had better wine in Kentucky/Indiana, but The Ridge's wine plus view and overall atmosphere makes this a must-visit.

I loved every wine I tried and brought several bottles home (which were consumed within a week or so). The tasting room is connected to a couple's home but it isn't weird at all (b/c I thought it would be!) It was so enjoyable to taste the wine, chat with the owners (who were hilarious and in love), then buy our glasses of wine to relax on the deck for girl talk and river views. I look forward to coming back and hope to bring my husband for a relaxing afternoon!

As I drove down the driveway toward the tasting room, I took in all of the gardens and the grapes that were growing. When I got there I walked along a path that was lined with greenery and flowers. When I got inside, I was greeted by the owner Tony. Tony was lovely and so helpful, he explained the different wines, and they were clearly marked for sweetness level or for how dry they were on the sheet where you chose your samples. I did choose four samples to try, and I really liked one of them. I am more of a sweet wine gal, and I have been trying to branch out a little bit, but I'm just not there yet. And talking to Tony I found out that his son is also in the wine business and he is in the wine business in California. Tony also sources some of his grapes from California. I also found out that he has three Airbnb's on this property one is over the tasting room and then two are at the front of the property. It was so beautiful there and I ended up bringing a couple of bottles of wine home. I also ate my lunch there, but they do not have a food license so I picked some local cheese that they had in a refrigerator and some summer sausage from a sausage maker in Cincinnati and he handed me a knife and cutting board so I made my own charcuterie and it worked out perfectly. There were so many lovely places to sit outside and have my lunch but it was about 90° and not much breeze so I ended up staying in. If I am ever in this part of Kentucky again, I will stop for another late lunch and wine tasting! Kudos to Tony he did a wonderful job.

First things first, we (4 of us) put our names on the tea room waiting list. Then we shopped for our gardens. I'd selected the plants I wanted to buy, and then it was time for lunch. Our name was next on the list. We stood waiting for the hostess when a pushy woman and two men climbed onto the porch in front of us. The woman insisted on being seated. The hostess explained that the kitchen was backed up and she couldn't seat them. Said woman loudly insisted that they 'only wanted to sit and they wouldn't be ordering anything'. A manager came out and the old woman tried to establish that a relationship existed with her and the owner. She insisted again that they be seated. They were, and immediately got wine, silverware and menus. All of this in front of us, the party that was standing waiting. At that point we said we were next on the list, but since they had not only been seated, but served before us we would leave without eating and without buying the plants we'd come to purchase. The kicker is that there were MANY seating choices outside in the shade that these people should have been directed to rather than being seated in front of us. And we left - never to return. We didn't even get an "I'm sorry." Addendum, all was not lost. We drove to a new-to-us restaurant in Seymour IN, and had great service and great food for much less than this would have cost! Addendum 2: to the person who responded to this review yesterday, thank you. I can't find your response now, but I appreciate your comments and that you took the time to explain the situation.
